Coffee Table build Industrial Style

- Materials for this build were a section of re-claimed C Section Steel beam that I bought from the local tip, Reclaimed timber; Douglas Fir, Silky Oak and some Australian Hardwood (Extra Hard Variety). The Feet, truss, top edge band and band bolts I made from new Steel from my Local Supplier. I stained the timber using Black Japan. This was the first time I used this product and I found it hard to apply an even coat. Wipe on Wipe off. Clear coat was Wipe on Poly. I needed ten strong men to lift it into position! Actually it's not that heavy, though I made it to last. I got heaps of splinters during this build.....just in case you were wondering, and I couldn't fit all the detail in this video as it was already getting pretty long. Well after it is all said and done, I hope you found the build interesting, if not just click on another video. I'd be glad to see your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks for watching.

Whoever doesn’t like industrial made stuff, doesn’t appreciate history and the arts. Well made/good craftsmanship
Great comment Thank you!
Nice table!
Glad you liked it, thank you!
Super!!! The steel band around the wood and the whatever they were, gave the top a bit of a medieval appearance. You are making art!!!
Thank you again Ronald!
This is one of the coolest Coffee Table builds I have ever seen.
That's a wonderful complement, Thank You!!
It’s a pleasure to watch you work Scott you’re art is like 50 shades of grey to men my friend. Love it Scott thank you for sharing and please don’t stop.
I like it! Thanks Iain! I will have to watch that show one day.
Absolutely blown away by you... you do awesome work. Love this little coffee table. The band with the square bead bolts where top notch. Thank you for this.
Very glad you like it - thank you Jacob!
Watched it again Scott I enjoyed this one , inspired me to build a 1.2 x 4.2 dining table with an angle web truss and arch style ends
Cheers from down south
That's great to hear Iain! Sound like yours is a Beauty!
Great to have a powerplasma cutter in the shop. Makes cutting those curves so much easier and precise.
For sure, so much faster!
the fact that you used a chunk of wood to bend that steel, I would never have thought that would have worked, amazing job!!
Thanks Kale, yes it was "hard wood" and it was an experiment that worked on this occasion. Thanks for the comment!
I love it when the wife comes to check on you.
Puzzlehead Design cheers, yeah she checks on meto see that I'm not goofing off ;)
you are A W E S O M E .
Love your work..

As a professional red seal welder/ Millwright, I must say that I am impressed. I subscribed to your channel.
Thanks Walter, I have huge respect for the trades and so I try and produce something that is passable. My trade background is aircraft maintenance airframe and engines. Manufacturing is a whole other thing as you know. Huge thanks for the sub too Walter, all the best!!
finally someone who can use a grinder on youtube!! subscribed
Thanks for the Sub! Had plenty of practice on the grinder, especially with the chair I'm building at the moment, the grinder has copped a floging and I think my neighbors would be glad if it burned out! Video on the chair should be ready in a few weeks
Am gona make a coffee table! Hell yeah!
Told ya ;)
You created a piece of art i think. And it will last forever. Love it.
Thankyou, yes will outlast me!
Wow, a lot of work and time ... An awesome handcraft table as result !!!
Thank you, great comment!!
Once again, how does anybody thumbs down artwork like this that is so beautiful?!?!
Much appreciated, Thank You!! Well we are all different I suppose.
Yeah...I'm sure you're tired of my praise, but another awesome project. What I like about your videos is that your best tool is the one between your ears. You use some brilliant ingenuity to get things accomplished without a huge warehouse full of all the latest tools. You stitch your plates together...scribble on cardboard and use your modest tools way past what normal people think said tools can do. You MAKE your own tools to do simple jobs. Best show on the internet, Scott.
So glad you can get something from the videos- Thanks again!
Congratulations; you are an expert. And I like that there is no strident music and, that you sweep at the end,
Thank you!
Solid intro, solid work
Cheers Stuart, can be used as a tank stand ;)

Thanks Robert, yes I think you are right. Gosh that would be a heavy beast!
Scott: Those "heavy beast" are fetching up to $6,000 per piece. Maybe bigger is better.
By golly, by gosh, Well then I'm going there in that case, best I get a crane! ;)

Working through all your videos this week, one a day as enjoying them so much! Another very well thought out and created project! Really loved the strut you fabricated from scratch, excellent design and execution! Keep up the good work!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching! Thats 75 Days worth.
Absolutely amazing. Even welding vertical up!!! Been a welder for a while and you sir are a great builder. Nice work
Oh thanks Adam. Just changed over to using gas instead of flux core with a new welder. I have to relearn vertical ups and overheads adjusting the speed and voltage. Just had a super crappy result during the week but I'll adjust.
Very creative, beautiful table!
freaking brilliant, mate. i learn something from every one of your videos.
Awe shucks, thanks Tim.

I sat through a ladies' hygiene product ad twice for you for this one, Scott!
I am planning a craft table for my wife, and you just made me seriously alter my design to take it from "functional" (which is my first priority with anything I make), to spectacular. Here's hoping I can pull it off! Loved your creation, not to mention the effort you go through to make it truly awesome!
Hey DB! Thanks for toughing it out through the adds! I do the same for those I watch :) Thanks again!!
You are as artistic as you are a brilliant creator. I am in awe of your fabrication skills. So enjoyable watching you work and play in your shop at fast speed. Cheers!

Awesome work. I like your modification on the bolts.
Hi Beau, thank you! The bolts I made from square mm solid bar drilling and welding in steel rod about 8mm. Rounded the tops over later. Thanks for your comment and encouragement, cheers.
Sir u totally make my day more happy...your work absolute not from this world...salute u sir
Thank you so much Mahathir. Glad this made you happy!!
epic, Scott! very inspiring for me especially since I have a decent welder now. I really liked the design and all of the details you put into this like the rounded over and blued bolt heads
Thank You! Timber is a joy to work with as you know, steel can be too. Welding glue dries fast and that I like a lot! Thank you for your encouraging words, cheers!

Excellent, welcome aboard and Thank You!
Looks very industrial indeed, good job man!
G'day FinnCrafted, thank you!! Yes I have the "industrial look" bug pretty bad at the moment. I appreciate your comment! See you next time.
Great style and well executed.
Cheers!!
The fact you took the time to make the leg extensions out of heavy gauge metal instead of taking the quick and easy way of forming it up with sheet metal says a tonne. You'd never be able to tell if you did it with thin metal but you still took the time to make it a certain way and I think thats awesome. Hope it serves you well for a lifetime. P
Many thanks!! I wanted to make the feet the same gauge as the beam. I guess its more work shaping the metal, though for me it is easier to weld and has less distortion with my welding set up. Should last............and last I hope. All the best, thanks
Excellent work!
Thank You Bradley!!
