Vandana Shiva is one of the world's leading ecofeminists and an Indian physicist combining the struggle for human rights with the protection of the enviroment. She obtained a PhD in Physics at the university of Ontario in Canada with the thesis “Hidden variables and locality in quantum theory.” Shiva combines Quantum Physics with social activism to peacefully resist a system that she considers has colonized the Earth, life, and the spirit. She recounts how she started defending the forest, the seeds, and the local ways of life and production, against the registration and control of patents claimed by multinational corporations like Monsanto. Our civilization, to survive, will have to review its model of understanding and interacting with the world, taking as an example the holistic knowledge of the Chinese and Indian civilizations that, according to Shiva, survived history essentially because they differ from the Occident in the relationship they have established with nature. She combines also fight against climate change with her feminism by analysing the relationships between humans and the natural world. Her activism promoting solidarity was rewarded with the Right Livelihood Award, which honors those offering practical and exemplary answers to the most urgent challenges facing us today.

I am among your many admirers of the work you and your team do.
I'm deeply concerned that all the concerns you've highlighted so effectively, the wonderful work you do, the voice of the voiceless millions that you are, and after you who will carry it forward.?
Is there a second line of leadership to carry forward your thoughts & work ? Will there be a continuum?
I do not know the inner structure of your organization, but my concerns are that , 1) Is a major part of your focus, attention, and resolve on admin & legal matters? 2) How much time is spent on fundraising? 3) How much of your energy & resources are spent spreading, teaching enabling, educating the methodology on how to create our own organic farms, gardens, terrace & gardens, etc.
In my book, you should be the union minister in India of a super ministry, which will include agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, rivers, and forests.
I hope in my lifetime I see or hear that Vandana Shiva is Bharat Ratna Vandana Shiva & Nobel laurette Vandana Shiva.
I think you and many others are missing the point through such statements, it might actually upset this incredible lady and few other hardworking for common good like her in the world, the idea is for all of us to wake up, especially the city people, to bring our contribution, seriously, people, we have destroyed so much of ourselves and the planet, it's time to stop passively admiring those that act for all and get out of this satanic system to work with Earth, our offgrid romanian family, no self-praise, has worked very hard for years now to plant hectares of deforested hills, clean the forests with volunteers, help the older villagers, build gardens, natural buildings etc, but it is exhausting with a few hands, if we care for our children's future we need to get involved now.
Maybe first ask her if she wants to live that long.
She will be born again and again. I already have seen her last incarnation and she did many great works. We don't die, our soul moves on. The body does.

In late 70's my father in law was sent to Brazil by Weyerhaeuser to teach Logging, that was the beginning of the raping of the Amazon rainforest.
As a horticulturist, I am appalled at the lack of understanding and respect greedy humans have for our planets eco-system and Science is right there with their bloody hands in all of it.
Sad to say that most of this information put forth by Vandana Shiva is not known to most people around the world. Too few people with too much money are denying too many people their livelihood.
Share it as much as you can. That is what I do. Even İndians don't know about her-sadly-

I am always uplifted and reinspired when I listen to Vandava Shiva, she needs to find others to take on and spread her wisdom that another world is, not only, possible but achievable, thank you Vandana.
