Tagging my notes is absolutely one of my favourite features of MarginNote! It allows me to create a professional knowledge database that is customized to areas of my profession. For example, when I read a journal article on ADHD, I can tag the various excerpts I make to form a database that contains excerpts from all my journal articles and textbooks. In the same journal article I could create the following tags: #ADHD_children, #ADHD_medication, #ADHD_children_boys, etc. MarginNote allows me to carry these tags into any other articles I read , which means I can read an article on behavior in the classroom, and if the article mentions something about boys having a harder time due to a higher prevalence of adhd symptoms, I simply tag that excerpt with #ADHD_children_boys, which grows my professional knowledge database on ADHD in boys.
That is smart learning!!! I have been cracking my head trying to figure out how to use the tag feature in MarginNote!!! Creating a data is the very smart! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Lee Townsend very interesting on how you’re using tags. In your example, how do you then creat the search for a tag across all your notes? Where is this global search feature located?
Bought MarginNote because of your recommendation... nice review. Not a student (far too old) but working in the medical industry. Perfect tool for research! Thanks...

Thanks so much for this review. I played around with transferring my notes to Notability but then discovered Agenda. It works beautifully with MarginNote and allows you to copy your notes into Agenda for Mac and IPad, and any tags in your notes link right back to the exact place you tagged the PDF in MarginNote.
The integration with Apple Notes and export to a Word Doc format sealed the deal for me. Also IOS and Mac support. It is now my go to tool for research of all forms. Can even import info from the Word format into Scrivener, my writing tool of choice for novels, and research papers. And the PDF handling is great too. Not expensive for what it does. I use Apple NOTES, REMINDERS and CALENDAR for process control and my central vault so works well with that as well.
Thank you so much for such detailed instruction. As a clinician and reseacher this is really what I have been looking for trying to complie data.. You made a comment about not knowing how to use the "tagging' in creating the mind map. I believe it helps with compliling data. For summary paper or grants we often have to pull data about various factors affecting a condition. At the end you have 1-4 determinant of disease process. Category allows one to create brain map and extract data on say psychological factors in the context of disease state from different papers and then summerize it. At least that is how I will use it. Though I could be wrong in its optimal use since I am just learning to use this application thanks to your tutorial.. It seems that others below are using it in a smiliar manner.

I am happy to hear you’re loving your experience with Notability. I wish I could lay my hands on the surface pro for comparison with the iPad pro. I guess I will be able to do that in due course
I think the reason the share button doesn’t work when you send it to notability (around the 12:40 mark) is that MarginNotes isn’t sending plain text. It is sending an x-callback-url. Notability and Kindle don’t accept x-callback-urls. I’m pretty sure this is a limitation of Notability and not the feature in MarginNotes
@@PaperlessX India is a huge country..So many languages,So many Cultures oh my God..I am tired to see the diversity in each segment of life..I don't know whether in one life I can explore India or not.. 😔
11:21 hashtagging is very useful as philosophy student. For example say I’m gonna be writing an essay about Aristotle’s virtue theory vs someone else’s. I can tag certain annotations to keep track of themes. I know that there’s a core disagreement between the 2 philosophers about #HumanPurpose and there’s a lot that’s been said about it on both sides. For efficiency, I can pull up #HumanPurpose and compare. Also to understand a single theory, I can pull up #HumanPurpose and flip through other hashtags regarding core concepts to see how that one belief ab purpose affects various other aspects of their theory.
Yeah the second I saw the hash-tagging feature I was like, “No way! That’s sooo thoughtful!“ and almost jumped with excitement. I think this feature would be useful for many other kinds of students and professionals who like to link information from various sources and draw novel connections.
Awesome app. I agree that embedded videos would be a real game changer as they could be used for tutorials, standard operating procedures, etc. Have you found an app that you like to use that you can export to, since you're unable to do so to Notability? Or since Notability is your App of choice you aren't inclined to try? Keep up the outstanding work!
Exporting PDF files to Notability is possible. It’s just exporting that small section that’s a problem. I still export to Notability and I also use Anki on my laptop. There are also many mind-mapping apps to export to. I have tried most of them
Hi Ropsie, thanks for doing these videos. They are super helpful in giving context to use cases. I use MarginNote 3 based on your various videos and my needs. I’m a finance research analyst writing research reports on stocks. I have found MarginNote 3 very effective in not only collecting information, but organizing it and also allowing for a way to create a follow-up/question workflow. One thing I’m curious about is whether you have figured out a way to link to items in webpages? It doesn’t seem possible and the only work-around that I can see is to print-to-PDF the webpage and then working off of that PDF. This is workable, but a little annoying to have to go to a two-step process.
Thank you. A little less than a year ago, I bought my first iPad for two reasons: Digital Planning & to try & study "paperlessly". I am an an old-school textbook girl. I got LiquidText & MarginNotes, mostly because of the mind mapping capability. I also discovered ThePaperlessStudent. ;-) Shortly after I got "ok" at MarginNotes, they came out with MarginNotes 3. Boy, oh, boy .... was I LOST! And I do I/T for a living! Then life got in the way, and all things digital fell by the wayside including my studies. Now I'm trying to get back on the horse. Thank you so much for your videos. I can see how tagging would work...at least for me...it is another way to flag a passage to be referred to later....like tags in Evernote, I would think. Thank you for all you do. P.S. I know you are paperless, but do you actively use fountain pens?
You are welcome. 😃 You mean physical fountain pens? If that’s what you mean... the answer is no... the only fountain pen I have ever used is a digital one
Please listen to your loyal audience & consider making an updated 2024 video on MarginNote. Are there any creative differences why you haven’t done one for so long?
MarginNote 3 doesn't have much active development anymore. We tend to cover apps that get frequent updates, as it shows that the developers are actively working on them. Since we have limited resources, we can't cover as many apps as we'd like.
@@PaperlessX Valid point. However, it’s a vastly different app today(UI n otherwise) as compared to when you did the full video in 2019. Please consider adding it to your backlog.
I searched for the tutorial you mentioned on how to create flashcards with MarginNote 3 but wasn’t able to find it. Please let me know if you can suggest any helpful tutorials on how to create flashcards with MarginNote 3, since this is probably the main feature that got me interested in MarginNote. Thank you 🙏🏻
It probably got deleted due to lack of traffic on the video. We'll start working on a user guide for MarginNote soon though. Sadly, MarginNote doesn't have a lot of videos online :( even though it is such a complex app.
I use the hashtags, in fact, I think they're great. Here's why. I research a lot because I'm writing a book and blog posts. As I study the sources I can hashtag things that aren't immediately useful for me but may be in the future.
Marginnote really listened to their reviews making their new version. The last one was so annoying and messy to use despite all the functionality. Liquid text has a rival.
For my studies I have to read a ton of pdf's and textbooks and I am considering going paperless, using either MarginNote 3 or LiquidText as my main app. However, I am currently undecided as to whether I should go for the 11" or the 12.9" iPad Pro. You are using the 12.9" as your main device correct? Have you ever tried MN 3 or LT on the 11" and what was your experience? The main reason I've seen people favour the 12.9 is because it is more suited for multi-tasking. Both of these apps seem to revolve around having two (or more) windows open at a time, so the more screen real estate the better no? However, I really like the portability of the 11" and it seems more comfortable to (casually) read pdf's on. Do you think I could get away with the 11" if I want to use MN 3 or LT as my main apps? Thank you!
Your analysis is correct... for multi-tasking the 12.9 inch is better. For casual reading, the 11 inch has no problems. But neither marginnote or liquidtext are for casual reading, lol! perhaps we have a different definition for casual. 😂 I find the 11-inch comfortable to use when you have a second screen.
Thank you for your effort I still know how to use the product! Where do I start. I not clear on this video, but I do understand that there are new features.
I downloaded marginnote3 after seeing your first few videos on it, and it really is a game changer. Do you use the notes from here to rewrite in notability?
Paperless Student That’s awesome. It’s super useful. I do have a question. I just got the iPad Air 3 generation, but I’m debating if i should get the iPad Pro 11”. Is it worth getting? Or should I stay with the iPad Air? I’m strictly using it as a notebook, per say.
Don’t understand why still need to rewrite it in notability . Marginnote cant take good notes? I’m checking your videos to decide one. LiquidText after your review I have removed from my list. Thanks for your video.
Hi Ropsie . I am very thankful to you for your endeavours for bringing such productive videos for us. I have a very important question for you. Does marginnote 3 has only the iCloud as a back up option? Please reply soon. Thank you.
I am going through the process of fixing the transcripts for your MarginNote TH-cam videos, i.e. create sentences and paragraphs. I also will use SnapMotion to grab associated screenshots. I really don't understand MarginNotes so I am very carefully trying to understand what you are doing in your videos. It is taking a very long time but it is worth it. I have to understand every step you are doing. I have an idea for you. Make pdfs related to your videos. i.e. one for MarginNote, one for Notability, etc. Include practice problems for us. I teach math to hardware engineers so I now know exactly what they are going through. I am a theoretical physicist - i.e. very different brain from my students. Starting from scratch can be very difficult. I would gleefully pay for such a book. You could sell them yourself or let TakeControlBooks sell them for you. You essentially have the books written. You just need to associate them with your fabulous videos. Let me know if you would like to see what I have done so far. ltownsend@hartford.edu. This is the correct app for my project, so I am tenaciously pursuing understanding. I suspect others would like books as well. There is no user guide for MarginNotes 3. With the size of the number of followers you have, I suspect this path might be more lucrative than medicine - just guessing.
Now that I have made TH-cam's transcripts look like sentences and texts, I realize I just need to watch the videos repeatedly and take notes on what I see. Taking screenshots would not help. Thanks again for the education. I can't wait to understand MarginNote 3 well enough to start using it!
I am still struggling. the marginnote.com videos leave out important information. like where did they click to get the current screen? What are the different menu bars and how do they interact? If I click Excerpt then select the text, the solid color shows up. I tried the rectangle tool first but that only created a border. Where are the default settings for interaction and what do they mean? Where is your Flash Card video? Why do I only get two lines of playlists on your channel? Not many videos are shown either. I have to search your channel name AND MarginNote 3 to find the videos. It's very frustrating. I need a step by step tutorial. What do i want to do and how do I do it? I see what happens in all the videos I have watched but I don't know how they got the results. I will give a couple of your videos one more chance then just give up on MarginNote 3 even though I know that's the app I want to use. Please provide links to the "previous two videos". Since I can't see your playlist, I don't know what they are.
Here is the playlist on MarginNote, I hope it helps... th-cam.com/video/5KqE-Cj4GuU/w-d-xo.html If not, please DM me, otherwise I will lose this comment in a few days.
I don’t. There are so many apps that still need reviewing. I tend to focus on what’s been released than speculate on what or when something will be released... Hopefully in the future though. When there are no more apps to review... I can indulge in speculations
Hi could you please explain to us how you get to organise your mindmap yourself ? I have been searching for at least 10 hours how to solve the fact that my excerpts keep being plotted on my mindmap, and I can't drag them elsewhere, nor create links. They all sit there in a random fashion. I am soooo annoyed with this tool right now. What are your settings that allow you to play around with your mindmap ? thank you in advance. PS : I went to the Margin Notes 3 youtube channel and suggested to them, that they should employ you to make short tutorials on specific buttons and features. I hope you will get a call :-)
Lol, thank you for the endorsement... I have talked about this but not sure in which video. I will look and send you a link. I will also do a short tutorial addressing this. Maybe that way it’s easier to find
@@PaperlessX Thank you Ropsie. I finally found how to do it 2 days ago. You need to hold a mindmap"card" with you pen or finger, for not too short period of time and not too long. When the period is too short or too long, and you try to move the card, every other mindmap"card will move along. But just the right amount of time (very scientific this) you can isolate and link it to the card of your choice. But then the next challenge presented itself, I couldn't make flashcards. WHY ! I couldn't make out how to get the answer on the flip side. Then by chance, I succeeded in creating one. ... and again. I don't know how I did it and I can't even replicate it this time. "Sigh" This application, I swear. I found a manual of a previous version of Marginnotes and I had it printed yesterday (paperless not😳). docplayer.net/42853760-Marginnote-user-manual-ver-2-0-3.html. Let see if that can help me, it is about 150 flipping pages. So today I just started flashcards with Anki, as my son has a test tomorrow and I wanted him to experience learning with his new iPad. Getting him motivated to create cards on a daily basis in the process. He already loves Notify for doing resumes now. So that is a huge win, for a 14 year old that does not like to write. And that is thanks to you Ropsie. Keep up the good work.
One hour later : the manual has a table of content with page numbers.... buuuuut......in the rest of the manual there is no page number to be found, wait, what ? 😰. So a girl has to do, what a girl has to do ... I have been highlighting chapters and subsections, while adding page numbers to 144 pages for the past hour. I deserve a break now.
Very useful content! What are your thoughts on ipad pro 11” vs 12.9” for this apps? I’m leaning towards the larger one but at the same time still afraid of it’s size...
Whats’s the biggest difference between Margin Note and Good Notes? I’m still new in this paperless notes taking and looking for the app that suits me better
Hey! First of all a big THANK YOU! without you, i wouldn’t even be able to use the app. They should pay you 😁 But I am still struggling with it. A lot.... one thing I don’t get is how i can copy plain text from the doc and then paste it in the comment section of the note. I have a lot of information that i don’t want to have one a separate note card, but rather below the note itself to clarify. I need a simple copy/paste function to work side by side in the note and the doc . I am also wondering whether it is possible to excerpt text not automatically as note content but as title of a note, for example when I want to have the chapter or topic headings as title of the corresponding notes as well....I hope anyone understands what I mean...😭😭
I get what you mean. It’s difficult to explain but what you want is actually possible. To copy and paste, long press... the same system works for making titles.
Paperless Student I tried but it only works after it has created a separate note, if I go in the marked section again. Then I have to delete the useless note, go in the other note again and then I can finally paste it. I don’t know what I am doing wrong... maybe I’ll just open the doc in another app and copy it from there...😓
Thanks for such a well covered tutorials on margins note 3. At around 10:37 it seems you manage to open the notes window on the left side (it usually opens over the document and blocks it) - how do you get it?
Mayur Ingale ah, for that you have to open the window by tapping the extract in the document. When you select if from the document and tap edit it opens on the left side 😃
Hello. Your tutorials are helpful. With so many apps around, things become confusing, which is one app that you can recommend which has best of all features (I know some advanced features may be missing ). I am currently using goodnotes 4, but the sync issue is taking too much time and it gets irritated to see the msg" failed to open the document". Is notability/noteshelf2 or any other app free from this bug? What's the use of notes , when you need them you can't find them. Thanks again. Continue with your good work.
Am happy you find my tutorials useful. It’s not a bug in GN5, it’s a missing feature. Notability and NS2 have this feature and I can’t believe it’s taken GN5 so long to add this syncing feature. It is too important!!
If you have GN4 you can upgrade to GN5 for free. So if you can get GN5 for free, then I suggest you go for that. If you don’t like it, then consider Notability
Is it possible to handwrite directly into the Mindmap in a free way (not connected to extracted Textfields)?! Couldn‘t find any way. MindMap is for me creative and intuitive, therefore I would like to use it with the apple pencil like an empty sheet of paper in combination with the citations from the PDF files. Thanks for the help.
This was really useful! Thank you. I'm still a bit confused by the ability to annotate and take excerpts in Document mode and Study mode, I seem to be creating two different instances of the same pdf. Do you always make the notes in the Study mode? Do you know what the point is of being able to take notes in both areas?
Hello, Thank you for your videos. I would like to know, can I add video from TH-cam? I mean, can it (Margin note 3) stream from TH-cam or any other video link?
The highlighting acts weird. Is there a way to highlight with the tool on the left without excerpting? The highlight tool (on the right) seems to cover the text making it unreadable after you mark it and move on. (It is half transparent at first and then becomes opac)
On your mindmaps? It tends to do that on the mindmap but goes back to being a proper highlighter after some time... try leaving it and let me know. The Annotating highlighter is the only highlighter that doesn’t create excerpts
@@PaperlessX Yes, it seems to work now. I have some more questions :-) Is there a way to copy pictures/tables from books to other apps like "Goodnote"? Is there a way to define the index on the right, for large books, to collapse to main subjects? It seems that the app automaticaly open all the subjects of a book, making it a pain to look for specific chapter every time around. Thank you.

At the moment, when I open the table of contents, ALL of the sub-titles are opened which makes it very annoying to scroll through. Is it something that can be changed? Making it "collapsed" to the main titles only automatically? 2- Sometimes I wish to copy pictures/tables from the book to an external app. On liquidtext, after choosing section of the page you could choose "copy" and than you could paste it anywhere you wanted on the IPAD as a photo. Hi, thank you for your video. I use marginnote3 to take note of my textbook. But it usually costs several hours to build a mind map for one chapter ( about 20 - 40 pages). Am I too slow? Do you have any suggestion about how to speed up?
20-40 pages is a lot. You need time to get through all that information. Do you feel maybe you haven’t mastered the app? Because that’s probably the only way to speed up. Otherwise studying takes time, naturally...
Paperless Student Thank you for replying! Yes, I am familiar with the app after several weeks’ practice. You are right, learning takes time. Maybe I just need to be more focused and more efficient.

How much space does MarginNote 3 take up? I am really concerned about this as I was using GoodNotes 5 to annotate my textbooks. However, I am facing issues. A particular PDF was 17 MB before I annotated. But after I have completed 2nd chapter with good amount of annotations, it became 10 times the initial size! 32gb is too little. Notability might work better for you. I will confirm how much space MarginNote takes. But the app is very taxing for a 128gb iPad pro even. I doubt it will work well on 32gb

You should have a delete icon next to where you turn it off. If not, perhaps rebooting the iPad will work. Otherwise, it is a bug that only an update from the developer will fix.
Paperless Student I think it is an ip mechanism imposed by the university. I’m just using the other tools, a bit more tedious but it doesn’t negate how helpful the app is.
Does anyone know how I can activate the OCR function in my Marginnote 3. I know there is a subscription to pay, and I am fine with that ... I'm able to open the menu which has "activate OCR" as a submenu, but it's greyed out ... I see no pathway from there to activate it; i.e. to get done with the subscription process. Does anyone know? Ropsie, I typed this very question on your PaperlessX blog, but after typing I found I couldn't post it. It returned a meaningless error message after I tried.
On your homepage, go to the three-dots icon then to In App Purchases. That’s where you can pay for the subscription. Sorry about the website thing. It seems to be affecting a select few though. Please try it again and let us know if it is still not working.

Yes... I think you are right
It seems to be perfect for reading books and making short notes out of it..Must have improved in last 2 years lot more..Love from India 🇮🇳
Yes, it improved dramatically. How’s India? 😃
@@PaperlessX India is a huge country..So many languages,So many Cultures oh my God..I am tired to see the diversity in each segment of life..I don't know whether in one life I can explore India or not.. 😔

You are hilarious!!! I'm so happy I found you, really entertaining but also really informative. Thanks!

That makes a lot of sense! Thank you!
Yeah the second I saw the hash-tagging feature I was like, “No way! That’s sooo thoughtful!“ and almost jumped with excitement. I think this feature would be useful for many other kinds of students and professionals who like to link information from various sources and draw novel connections.
Brilliant the shapes (ellipses!). Agree on opacity - contrast. Eraser sizes a plus. Now guys, about page management ....
I have tried most of them
Great (and witty) vid! I am just beginning to use MN3 for my studies because of its flashcard & mind map functions. Thanks for sharing it.
Obrigado pela ajuda. Uma excelente professora. Thank you very much for spend your time for students in all world
Don’t mention 😃
MarginNote 3 doesn’t recognise web links. It only creates and recognises hyperlinks only... unfortunately there is no way around this.
@@PaperlessX That would be helpful. 😊
Flashcards are probably one of the most important parts of this app.
I use the hashtags, in fact, I think they're great. Here's why. I research a lot because I'm writing a book and blog posts. As I study the sources I can hashtag things that aren't immediately useful for me but may be in the future.
Smart workflow
Marginnote really listened to their reviews making their new version. The last one was so annoying and messy to use despite all the functionality. Liquid text has a rival.
Yes... they did pay attention. This is really a great update
Thank you very much for this well done Video. You Can explain very good. I Like your Style to create the Video and your voice.
Thank you!
Thank you for your effort I still know how to use the product! Where do I start. I not clear on this video, but I do understand that there are new features.

marginnote 4 is out. love to hear you thoughts
I downloaded marginnote3 after seeing your first few videos on it, and it really is a game changer. Do you use the notes from here to rewrite in notability?
Yes, yes, I do I do
Paperless Student That’s awesome. It’s super useful. I do have a question. I just got the iPad Air 3 generation, but I’m debating if i should get the iPad Pro 11”. Is it worth getting? Or should I stay with the iPad Air? I’m strictly using it as a notebook, per say.
It’s not worth upgrading. At this point if all of them support the apple pencil function... you definitely don’t need the high end expensive ones.
Thank you.
No, you can backup to other cloud services. Just that you have to do it manually
@@PaperlessX thank you
Aha, you have ghai's Pediatrics, have you a Dropbox or a cloud link of your original books, would like to share. I have plenty you might like.
Your voice is calming..
Used to love chm format books, best was iSilo for searching, very fast unlike searching on Adobe on a 5000 page pdf.
I never liked the chm format.
Here is the playlist on MarginNote, I hope it helps... th-cam.com/video/5KqE-Cj4GuU/w-d-xo.html
If not, please DM me, otherwise I will lose this comment in a few days.
Do u hv any idea that.. When notability new update is coming.... As told by... Tom solid
I don’t. There are so many apps that still need reviewing. I tend to focus on what’s been released than speculate on what or when something will be released... Hopefully in the future though. When there are no more apps to review... I can indulge in speculations
How did you get the note window to be smaller and separate from the document? Whenever I press edit note, it covers up the document completely.
Thank you. Great tutorial. Cheers
You welcome 😃
Great intro to MN!
You voice is so soothing...it drives me crazy
Very useful content! What are your thoughts on ipad pro 11” vs 12.9” for this apps? I’m leaning towards the larger one but at the same time still afraid of it’s size...
The bigger screen is better. You will get used to it very quickly.
Amazingly helpful review!
Hi, I’m wondering how to unlink or un-child a note to another, rather than undo. I’ve been looking for this function for a while now. Thanks alot !
Just drag it to where you want it
Thank you. It is very useful
Whats’s the biggest difference between Margin Note and Good Notes? I’m still new in this paperless notes taking and looking for the app that suits me better
MN3 is a PDF annotating app... GN5 is a note-taking app... This video might help: th-cam.com/video/AjBdTXonZDc/w-d-xo.html
Wonderful video, wow!
Is there any alternative app available for android tab like LIQUIDTEXT or MarginNote3
Writing for your reply 😊
Flexcil is the closest we know. But we haven’t tried it on Android yet
I have a question: How do you switch a card of content in the mindmap quickly into a title?
This video didn’t cover that? 😬 I don’t have access to the paid version of the app to check.
That is just awesome 👌
Hey! First of all a big THANK YOU! without you, i wouldn’t even be able to use the app. They should pay you 😁
But I am still struggling with it. A lot.... one thing I don’t get is how i can copy plain text from the doc and then paste it in the comment section of the note.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong... maybe I’ll just open the doc in another app and copy it from there...😓
I will try do a video for you then, to address this
Paperless Student eagerly waiting
how do you select a bunch of documents into a file folder in the document section. I had to resort draging one file at a time which is time consuming.
Great review/tutorial. Thanks
Can u also cover some of the advanced features like 'link' and 'summary'? I have no clue what they do and how they work.
Yes I will. I think I still have one more video for MarginNote 3.
@@PaperlessX Where are they :) Or do I just happen to miss them?

Good work 👍🏻🌹
@@PaperlessX
Would you suggest notability instead of goodnotes 4 or shall I upgrade to GN 5?
If you have GN4 you can upgrade to GN5 for free. So if you can get GN5 for free, then I suggest you go for that. If you don’t like it, then consider Notability
Is it possible to handwrite directly into the Mindmap in a free way (not connected to extracted Textfields)?! Couldn‘t find any way. MindMap is for me creative and intuitive, therefore I would like to use it with the apple pencil like an empty sheet of paper in combination with the citations from the PDF files. Thanks for the help.
Yes it is possible, tap on a node, add a new node and start writing in it....
This was really useful! Thank you. I'm still a bit confused by the ability to annotate and take excerpts in Document mode and Study mode, I seem to be creating two different instances of the same pdf. Do you always make the notes in the Study mode? Do you know what the point is of being able to take notes in both areas?
Study mode is for intense sessions, with mind maps and all that. But Document Mode is for simpler PDF reading.
Hello,
Thank you for your videos.
I would like to know, can I add video from TH-cam? I mean, can it (Margin note 3) stream from TH-cam or any other video link?
Yes, it can... you can save links to MarginNote 3 and play them in the app
quite useful, thank you!
Anytime!
I have some more questions :-)
Is there a way to copy pictures/tables from books to other apps like "Goodnote"?
Is there a way to define the index on the right, for large books, to collapse to main subjects? It seems that the app automaticaly open all the subjects of a book, making it a pain to look for specific chapter every time around.
Thank you.
I am very lost right now. Please explain that again...
@@PaperlessX
Hi
1- When opening a book, on the right there is an option to open the table of contents of the book. Now, in large books there are usualy main subjects and sub-titles.
I don't find how I can do it here. Cropping out parts of the page as a photo for "general use" outside the app.
I hope I explained myself better. :-)
Thanks.

20-40 pages is a lot. You need time to get through all that information. Do you feel maybe you haven’t mastered the app? Because that’s probably the only way to speed up. Otherwise studying takes time, naturally...

And now, exporting that pdf or backing up is causing the app to crash, rendering all my work so far wasted. I am using a 32 GB 6th gen iPad. Do you think my iPad can bear working on MarginNote 3? 32gb is too little. Notability might work better for you. I will confirm how much space MarginNote takes. But the app is very taxing for a 128gb iPad pro even. I doubt it will work well on 32gb

So, firstly I am over 60, retired and want to become a flying instructor on helicopters. So what? Who cares, well the thing is I have nine exams to take and pass. At 65, wow. Why? Well that doesn’t matter, I have looked at study aids to run on my iPad Pro 2020 12.9 with Apple Pencil and I have come to the conclusion that margin notes is the way to go, But! What a complex overwhelming app. I like the idea of pdf annotation, mind maps and flash cards, but where to start. What I need is an A to Z from the start, a kinda blank newly downloaded app, then how I import my pdf home study manuals and extract the relevant information to get the best use out of margin notes. You really seem to be on your own and nobody else has taken it seriously. Probably because of the learning curve. So how about a beginners, let’s start at the very beginning and develop how to get to grips with the app....l please..
I am busy watching your tutorials and must admit what a steep, learning curve for a 65yr old..
I enjoy watching what you have done.
I certainly care and am very curious to know who is doing what with their apps. MarginNote is very difficult to learn, we're working on a course but we also offer one-one-one tutorials for individuals who need them: paperlessx.setmore.com/bookappointment
It's taken us a while to figure out how we are going to do slow paced tutorials for apps. We've finally cracked it, I think :)

When reading one textbook at a time, yes.
Hey Ropsie it’s really bad they started charging for scanned paper OCR

You should have a delete icon next to where you turn it off. If not, perhaps rebooting the iPad will work. Otherwise, it is a bug that only an update from the developer will fix.
When I use the excerpt underline tool it only underlines the nearest heading. Am I doing something wrong?
It’s not a complicated tool at all. Perhaps it’s a bug. Try rebooting your iPad or reinstalling the app. Don’t forget to reboot your files first

@@PaperlessX Done thanks Ropsie. "Thanks very much" gTranslated is: "ndatenda zvikuru". My own translation: "mazwita zwakaipa". -- Which is correct/more accurate?
Hello Margin note 3,
I'm a postgraduate medico learning to study with ipad.
In the document reading mode, right side below there is a option NOTE LIST. if we select the text in SCROLL mode the notes will be highlighted in different manner compared to the highlights with the INK mode!
I couldn't find an explanation in that particular part in any of your videos. Could you help me out with that?
How exactly can I help? What do you need to know?
Can I open my kindle purchases in this application?
No. The kindle app doesn’t allow you to export your documents out of the app
