That younger sister in the first concern is really selfish. Her parents are working so hard to pay for all her expenses yet she takes it for granted and can't even let them be comfortable at their own home. the first girl that raises birds is really too much. I wonder how her family and friends could deal with her. Her personality is just too >< and she is only in 6th, and might be worse later on
ikr, when she talks there's this b*tchy feel. She's 12, and I understand she's young but not everything is about her and her stress. At the age of 12 I was more responsible, and I helped around my house and I also helped my parents. I also started cooking more stuff at the age of 12 while maintaining good grades and having my piano exams and lessons. She's really stubborn. At least she's raising the birds, but she needs to clean up after them. She needs to realize that the birds are part of the problem. She was really rude when she said what her parents should've done. Why should her mom research about her illness? She's not a doctor, and since her daughter is raising birds it's affecting her. Yeah she should take care of herself not worrying about taking care of you and your birds. Ugh lol I'm just ranting XD

For the first concern, I truly can't stand this kind of child... The parents don't say a thing about it because they're quite relief that she gave up having a smartphone and presents etc.. I really do think that she's spoiled... If they're all fed up then they really should say something about it..
If I rememeber well, she still want to keep at least 10 birds.. I don't support animals being caged too but there's no way you'll finish cleaning everything with so much birds if you let them out for a long time..

***** It's not the fact that she's isn't taking care of the birds or anything like that. She loves the birds and she's doing everything she is suppose to, but what irks me and probably most of the commenters/viewers who watched this show and commented about the little girl is that she doesn't seem to understand that the parrots are a problem. Her mom has health problems (i forgot what it was) because of the parrots, her dad comes home late everyday because of the parrots endless pooping and crying, her older sister has to clean up the parrots poop when she has other important things to attend, and etc. It would be fine if she raised 2 of them and gave up the babies, but she said countless times that she wants to raise more and more. If the parrots produce 100 babies, she'll keep them. Sure she cleans their cages and agreed to let them out less, but regardless of what she restrained, they'll STILL poop outside and STILL make a mess. What's the point of restraining their outside time and cleaning when she wants to raise more than 4 parrots? They'll just triple the mess. To make this paragraph short, she's a brat and she is selfish. She only thinks about herself and the birds. Selfish.
I came here for Taeyeon but she barely talks, she is really shy and Jonghyun is so handsome and charismatic I really like him!
Well in the first concern the girl was such a brat, in the second one I was pissed because how they freaked out just because the man do the housework and if it would be the woman the one who do it, it will be completely fine and in the third I find cute the idea of still loving someone passionately after 6 years but this was too much XD and its terrible how he doesn't care about his children!

In fact, he said he would do all of the chores except for dinner, because he wanted to spend more time with her. I understand if the wife isn't good at chores, but she should at least try to do them. Like using, "Once someone asks me to do it, I don't want to do it anymore" isn't even an excuse. She's basically just admitting that she's succumbing to laziness. As a kid, I feel like that all the time. Actually, everybody does. But we don't just stop doing whatever it is we don't want to do. I understand the wife is tired, since she works A LOT, and that the husband's personality keeps him from resting. But still, shouldn't the wife do at least SOMETHING that's a bit more frequent, instead of just putting up some insulation and changing light bulbs?

I really hated the first two concerns ,like they pissed me off. I hated that the younger sister was selfish and didnt think about her family as much especially her mom ,i know shes a kid but she should have enough sense to not think like a jerk and the second one ,the wife should help around. If i had a husband like that i'd consider myself blessed more than anything ,there arent many men who'd put up with her but he did ,she should be more thankful and caring towards him :/He was still willing to do everything for her ,i really hope she changes for his sake!
It seems obvious that the parents avoid confronting their child about the problem (dad intentionally go home late and lets the older daughter solve the mess. Really? Is that what a dad should be doing? Mom seems surprised that daughter doesn't seem to care about her health-being. That's a sign of a first time the topic is being brought up) Many kids don't know better until pointed it out to them. Yes it's still partially the kid's fault for letting the birds fly everywhere and not take care of it, but isn't it also the parents fault for not pointing it out and stopping her from continue doing so?
liltunwin agreed. Human are naturally self-centered when we are born. It is only when we grow older that we starting to consider others perspective. We can say that the girl is in 6th grade and she should know. But it is also the family's education that reinforce one's sensitivities for others people. The family did not teach that little girl considerations, and hence she continue with her behavior believing that she's right. I say the parent and the daughter are both at fault.

For the second concern; funny thing is, if the roles were reversed, it would seem completely normal and people wouldn't find it much of a concern because it's a "guy" thing. Many wives (especially in Asia) go through this and are not able to say anything because it's "what they're supposed to do" :/

It would not seem completely normal, in fact it would seem like the uninvolved parent who was playing on their smartphone and watching TV was a lazy ass, exactly like it does here. I feel like with the bird girl, someone should have the made the point that even though she's in charge of cleaning the cage, she should also clean after whatever the birds do outside of the cage. It's like if you had a dog. If your dog pooped inside the house, obviously, you would have to clean it, since it's your dog. If your dog pooped out of the house, you would still have to pick it up, since it's your dog. If you had a family dog, then if you're walking the dog, or letting him run outside a bit, and he poos, guess who has it clean it? You. You wouldn't be walking him, or watching he play outside, then go back inside and expect someone else to pick up after him. There's a reason why everybody calls those who refuse to pick up after their dog when walking them, jerks. Most of them probably clean up after their dogs at home, but why do we get mad when they don't clean up after them outside of the house? Because it's their RESPONSIBILITY.
I agree. My sister brought home a cat but she barely comes home and go out and told me to take care of it. It pooped everywhere. Now my parents are upset, we sent the cat to someone else.

Second concern -> If both the parents work then, the rule "the woman must do all the housework" is USELESS.
Of course i think they should split the chores half-half , but lets be honest if it was her doing all the chores and working and the guy doing nothing a lot of people wouldn't consider this a concern ¬¬

If you have watched Hello Counselor before -like many episodes before, when KBS started subbing them- you could see that there have been a lot of concerns when the wife is just so tired that her husband doesn't help with the housework that they can'ta take it anymore. And let me tell you, a lot of people have pressed the button. So please, don't use the "EQUALITY CARD" because that it's not the problem here, they both work and have the same schedule but the difference here is that the wife is just lazy...even when the husband was sick she didn't do anything!

Ps.They don't have the same shedule -> She's a nurse, so her work shedule is different from the regular jobs, she works covering the 3 shifts: morning , afternoon and night all at once. But yet she should still help more.

Funny show though, but the 4th concern was interesting. In Korea, is it common for employers to bond with bosses/management? Because in the U.S, bosses are often looked down upon and most people hate their bosses. Although the boss was working them really hard, it seemed like he had a bond with his employees....

It really depends on how the employees are treated. If the boss/management is fair, then obviously the employees will have a better relationship with them. You can work the employees hard and treat them like shit, or you can work them hard but treat them well at the same time.

IMHO she said she wants a very affectionate husband and it was as simple as that. She didn't say she wanted to swap places for the wife's exact position as it exists today.
Also, for them to say it's not a concern is showing confidence in the guests ability to fix it without needing outside help, which would be almost like an insult. Every time on this show when they say it's a concern, they know they're judging the people to be incapable of fixing their own problems. The preferable thing to do is vote that it's not a concern, which is why in SO MANY episodes they say it's not a concern when it clearly is!
Also, I want to ask you why you don't criticize Lizzy for her being the only one to say the last concern is not a concern? The boss makes his employee do things on the weekend and if the employee doesn't want to do it, he gets threatening texts! That's not a concern? Really? Is Lizzy being the only sensible one when she says "it's part of his job"?!?!?!?
+tvtoms well everyone has different opinions about what a concern is. I don't think this show was made for people to follow what other people think, this show is for adults not children just saying, so why do we need to criticize her and whine when its her opinion?
Honestly these were comments from over a year ago and I don't intend to watch it again to refresh my memory. But I will say this. I am a 51 year old man. I love that people express their opinions. I express mine too and am thankful for every forum that allows it. Some TH-cam channel owners only want comments which compliment them and mute / ban any other comments even though they are also given with love and sincerity. I'm thankful for a full and wide range of opinions and celebrate that rich quality of life wherever I find it. I hope that helps round out where I'm coming from with all of my comments on TH-cam and beyond.

No. It's terrible if you force your spouse to do chores if they're sick, regardless if it's the husband or the wife. Especially when it's hard for them to walk. Letting the house fill up with garbage smell for 3 days, because your excuse is that you have a weak stomach, and thus unable to throw it out, is a sign that you're a terribly lazy person. This doesn't just apply to those who are married, but including single people. If you do this, you're a dirty & lazy person.

It annoys me how aloof the parents of the first girl are. Because the younger sister has better grades when she raises birds, they completely neglect the older sister's grades (and sanity). They think it's just fine to let her clean up after her younger sister's birds all day. It's not a fair exchange at all. The younger sister gets to terrorize her parents and older sister with those damn birds just because she has good grades. What nonsense. Weak parenting.
The lazy wife is like a child. Very minor issues about her husband bother her and she compares it to his troubles. How pathetic. He has to deal with way more than you, lady! It's quite sad how people still think that the women should be the house wife (and I'm not only talking about korea). If a women came on the show saying that her husband does nothing people would say it's a women's responsibility. The mother of three had already so much on her hands, clearly she wouldn't be willing to physically reciprocate her husband's affection. Men like this with "all talk, no action" are the worst in the whole world! To truly love someone is not only to just encourage them verbally, but to also take charge and lighten that person's burden, not to kiss up and act all gooey in front of your other half to show that you really love her. It's not that everyone else is completely fine with the idea of a wife doing all the house chores while her husband's chilling. They are just more familiar with what normally happens in society. Normally, the one who comes to this program to complain about their spouse's not moving a finger is a wife and the one who does nothing and is a potato couch is a husband. The people on this program are not okay with the idea of a person doing the house chores all alone.

It seems like the theme for this episode is childish.
1st. Girl lets out the birds but doesn't clean up because she's "only responsible for the bird cage". childish.
2nd. Wife who doesn't do housework and intentionally when the husband tends to nag at her to do housework. childish.
3rd. Husband who is jealous of his own kids....super childish. Don't have children then if you're going to be jealous of them.
4th. Boss is making the employees suffer just to prove to himself that he, a dentist, can beat the fitness majored people. childish.
For the first concern, i don't give a crap if the girl is in sixth grade. She seems like a brat who doesn't really care for her family. Will her pets still be with her until the end? Do the birds comfort and talk to her when she's sad or bored? Do they provide her with a shelter, clothes, food, and education like her parents and her siblings do? Definitely not. She doesn't get that family is more important and will do anything for you. And the parents, I know they care about promises but honestly if your work is getting destroyed and if ur sick with an illness caused by your own pets, shouldn't they be strong on their daughter and tell her to think about her family and make a sacrifice? And it's not like they're even asking her to give them up. What a selfish brat. Annoyed me during the whole episode.

As long as whoever has the main control over the housework isn't being exclusively subjected to everything everyday then it's fine. That husband literally does everything, I mean the wife should've at least cleaned up the dishes for the three days he left. I think in any educated household, there is always one person (mainly the wife) who does most of the work but the other person does help and ease their load every so often. :)
Not in my family, Both my mum and dad do pretty much the same load of work. Dad maybe does more of taking care of the car and the technical stuff but still. And I would consider my family a educated one.
One person maybe does a little more then the other person. It´s hard to do the exact same amount of work, but the way the husband does the work is a little to much, I think at least.

You're not the only one who thought that. If it was a woman who sent in the concern instead, I'm pretty sure the audience wouldn't have had the same reaction/feelings to the problem. There are plenty of wives and females out there who do 99% of the household work, but no one ever bats an eye when they say how tired they are. Puhlease, people are only reacting the way they are to the situation, because it's a man who sent in the concern. However, I do believe that households, including the guy's family, should try practicing equity in the very least.
The first concern about birds was definitely NOT my cup of tea... I have ornithophobia (fear of birds) and I'm a neat freak so just hearing the first story made me squirm.... If I was at that recording, I would've ran out and not look back lol.
With the first concern I felt bad for the older sister, living in a place that smells like bird poo.... ewwwww.... The younger sister is being selfish because I doubt that those poor birds are happy living in that type of environment. The parents will need to be a little more strict, just because she gets good grades doesn't give her the authority to do whatever she wants with the birds....

3rd concern: I wouldn't want a husband that is so clingy to me. I prefer people who are more independent and show their love in other ways than affection. I mean why does he want 5 kids when he disregard them and are jealous of them? Wouldn't having more kids take more attention off of him? He shouldn't have the mindset of only loving his wife because the kids are literally part of his wife and he took a part in producing them. These are just my thoughts, not to offend anyone.

I love the show, but really, it would have been the same if they didn't invite Taeyeon, she said almost NOTHING. Basically she laughed and said if she thought those were concerns or not. The other girls didn't do that much either. Only Jonghyun participated as a real guest.
I agree with you. The program isn't a showcase for the guest but Taeyeon especially wasn't paying attention most of the times like she was thinking in other things or was bored. Not a criticism of her, just maybe she shouldn't appear on varieties/talk show and give more air times for other members of SNSD.

unfortunately, we don't really know if taeyeon spoke up or not because the show is so cobbled together with strange editing.
she may have had insights that weren't deemed entertaining enough or weren't as funny as the staff wanted, which would result in being edited out.
thats the one issue i have with these variety shows...you never know who really reacted to what because of the way they edit things. you hear it all the time from idols --> you have to 'overreact' to everything so as not to be cut from prime air time...

Episodes like this really remind me of Korea's view on marriage on social status in the household. Man's chores, woman's chores, wife's place, husband's place. It's not terrible because it doesn't seem to be oppressive to the wives and it even seems to be slowly changing for those who want change but seeing stuff like this does remind me of that difference between here and there.
