There is an inherent goodness in JD that surrounds him like an aura. You can just feel what a great man he is, not to mention a great guitar player. God Bless him!!!!
Zac you did a fine job, conducting a great interview, and you have a fine talent for uninterrupted listening (a rare skill.) This was a pleasure to view. Thanks.
Got to hold Candy after the show at the double door inn in Charlotte, NC. JD and the band stuck around and had a chat with me and one of my friends and ended up with me holding that wonderful guitar and talking about music and guitars and gear...one of the best experiences ever. JD, Elad, Adam and the entire crew are just awesome people. Great interview!!
I'm a genuine Strat guy but I've been following JD for a while and have been taken in by his playing. But the minute he started playing on that Burst I was instantly reminded of Peter Green and those haunting sounds drenched in reverb.
I really appreciate these videos and the insight you get into all aspects of making music with guitars and amps. JD is as articulate speaking as he is with a guitar, and that is rare. His life and experience has been quite a trip. He is very thankful, gracious, and humble and that is refreshing. I absolutely have to see JD live and meet him. Such a cool guy!
I give Simo so much respect!!! This did was homeless at one time and Don Kelly gave him an opportunity. He had to learn those styles literally overnight… just an amazing thing to watch. Learn to eat, not for fame. And he’s so humble and grateful. Such an amazing kind loving person!!!!
He definitely is great about letting people play these guitars when you see them live. Hes a deserving cat. Absolutely LOVE this series of interviews. Thanks Truetone!
Thank you for sharing this, whole interview is perfect, especially combination with playing. These notes with the Burst is just mind blowing, so much Mike Bloomfield sweetness! Keep up the good work, cheers!
JD is a great player and really seems like a cool guy. Awesome of him to give GE props. I don't think I've ever heard anyone name him as an influence, but he deserves it.
So true. I couldn't wait for commercial breaks and for them to come back to the show just so I could hear G.E. Smith play. This was back in about '90 - '92 when I was a teenager and had just begun playing. He had the coolest guitars and stage presence on SNL.
what a joy this series has been, thank you! watching and listening to his playing is always inspiring. I especially enjoyed his dynamic chordal playing with Red at the end of part 2. the subtle shaking of the neck with the reverb is beautiful! take care -Kyle
Always loved your playing JD! And hearing this interview, man.... you really sound like a down to earth guy, it's refreshing to see someone who's not full of themselves like some musicians can b, and your props to those who inspire you is just great to hear also! Play on brother.
What an excellent interview! I love how you let JD speak and tell his story without interrupting him. Great questions and great storytelling by a genuine guy.
Thank you. Well, i know that you are not JD. Just thought, that you have contact to him. Just asking, cause i´ve taken some analog pictures at this show. Thanks and greetz.
Another incredible interview Zac, I'm late to the party but recenlty discovered your channel and am telling all my friends to subscribe. ps..has J.D.'s Blackface resurfaced yet? I say "yet" with great optimism.
Ugh, that's such a shame! I hope it does, we'll pray for the best, crazier things have happened. I used to go to Robert's WW specifically to see J.D. play with Don Kelley and he was always so cool and ready to talk about gear in between sets. I couldn't beleive it was just a bf and a tele he was using, he is amazing.
I bet if some of these guys made an album of whatever is stored on their looper pedals or if they recorded their practice/noodling sessions when they are alone in their practice spot they could make some decent money from alot of us amature guitar players.. I know I'd buy them. Videos would be even better
Have absolutely loved these 3 videos. Who the hell needs Netflix! :)
Thanks!!
There is an inherent goodness in JD that surrounds him like an aura. You can just feel what a great man he is, not to mention a great guitar player. God Bless him!!!!
You are right. He has a kind soul, and is a good friend.
Zac you did a fine job, conducting a great interview, and you have a fine talent for uninterrupted listening (a rare skill.) This was a pleasure to view. Thanks.
Thank you Nick.
Would agree 1000%. Great job of letting JD go where he wants with just enough of a guide to keep everything moving! Excellent!

He does! Thank you for watching, and feel free to share the video if you like.
Truetone has candy gone back to her owner yet, haven't seen JD with it for a while

You are right! Very much a Peter Green vibe!

Nice. Yes, you must go see him play! He is about to hit the road for a bunch of dates here in the states, and then Europe. Zac

A great part 3, looking forward to sehearing you in Paris!
JD is a great player and really seems like a cool guy. Awesome of him to give GE props. I don't think I've ever heard anyone name him as an influence, but he deserves it.
GE is a fantastic player, and was a big influence on most players that watched SNL from the 86-95 or so.
Who is ge
GE Smith.
Thanks for reply. This interview set me back on my musical path.thanks alot.

Love that 55 white guard, keep these videos coming Zac, great job !

Thank you for watching. He gets so much from just a guitar and an amp.
Always loved your playing JD!

Great job Zac! Very informative! 👍🎸
You are very welcome!
I always learn something in every single interview. That Les Paul has every sound I've ever heard a guitar make!
It is clear and fat as can be.
What an excellent interview! I love how you let JD speak and tell his story without interrupting him. Great questions and great storytelling by a genuine guy.
omg the playing on the burst was just breathtaking, great story on the burst and in all, thanks. JD is just great !
You are welcome, thank you for watching.
JD's so cool and Candy sounds amazing!!!
That’s the best burst I’ve ever heard! What a tone… a true Tele on steroids!!!
great series guys! Btw, just got a CS12 and love it!.
Thank you for supporting us!
When he starts to play the Les Paul, is that the deluxe reverb?? God yes.
The Deluxe
Didn't his vintage Fender Deluxe get stolen on tour?
Yes, a week or 2 after the interview while in Italy.
Truetone it was the frigging mafia, I'd like to make whoever stole a piece of a man's soul an they can't refuse, what son's of bitches
Love the interview! Did you played the Burst this April 15th 2016 in Hamburg? Thanks and greetz!
This is Truetone, not JD. I can't answer that question. He is in Europe right now
Thank you. Well, i know that you are not JD. Just thought, that you have contact to him. Just asking, cause i´ve taken some analog pictures at this show. Thanks and greetz.
Did he ask for the LP back yet?
Another incredible interview Zac, I'm late to the party but recenlty discovered your channel and am telling all my friends to subscribe. ps..has J.D.'s Blackface resurfaced yet? I say "yet" with great optimism.
Thank you! No, the amp has not surfaced. It was the best bf Deluxe I had ever heard.

what amp is he running in these segments?
It is a blackface 1967 Deluxe Reverb, with a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. No effects other than the reverb and trem on the amp.
@@TruetoneFX Is it the reissue vintage 30 or a 30 watt celestion greenback from the 60s / 70s?

I want Candy!
