Brilliant review and the chart at the end was superb. Its the question I have been asking myself for the last few months - do I decide between a Perfectdraft or a Perfectdarf Pro. I am going to treat myself for a significant upcoming birthday so this has review has been a great steer. I love the German wheat beers so going to see if you've reviewed them. New subscriber - thanks loads!
Thanks for the review, got yourself a new subscriber. I’ve had the original PD for about 9 months now and have loved it. Drinking mostly wheat beers, I loved the idea of temperature control so finally placed the order for the pro and the machine arrived today. I’ve packed up the original as it’s being traded in, set up the new Pro in the kitchen. Wow, it really is a monster. My wife, or as I call her, the boss, is currently out and I’m dreading the reaction when she sees Big Bertha on the side unit. For this reason only, I’ve put her favourite keg in there and will have to ensure my sales skills are in tip top form when she arrives. Wish me luck people.
It’s so big it looks too serious. The old PD wasn’t too different to the kettle, toaster or coffee machine and could happily sit alongside them without annoying the wife too much. But the Pro is a statement machine - it says I want my beer and I want pride and place on the kitchen counter.
I just bought a pro and made space because I had two of the originals, I can get my coffee machine in beside the pro now. My wife couldn't care less as there is plenty space. If I buy a second one then that'll definitely have to live in the workshop.
Review as always on point and done in your original style. I have had my PD Pro now for a wee while and it sites on my bar with its little brother the PD, and is a great addition to the family
Liked and subscribed. Thanks for the great review. My local off licence is an official supplier of the perfect draft machines and kegs. After watching your review I'm going to call in tonight and pick up the pro model. I've thus far, owned neither model
@@BigBaldReviews thanks mate. I live very close to the northern Irish border and my mate has an off licence there that supplies them. I litteraly just set the machine up a half an hour ago and downloaded the app and connected it to the WiFi. It's still not calculating the temperature of the keg. Is it normal for this to take over a half an hour.
@@BigBaldReviews thanks so much for that info and the quick replies. You've gave me great piece of mind that everythings okay with it. Have a great weekend
I’ve got a frankie royal in the pro set at 6 degrees, tastes a lot better than when I had it on the original. Depending what beer your drinking but pro is great when your not having a lager IMO. Worth it for me
First beer through the new machine was st feuillien blonde had that set at 7 as an experiment with pro, really good I’d recommend giving that a review at a higher temp was up there for me!
I've purchased one of these bad boys. Absolutely fantastic imho. They have temperature control & it pours perfectly. Still love my PD but this is a different level especially when you like Ipa's.
The fact it takes up to 60 mins to show temp is a bit of a pain, but the unit is solid, tap feels more solid doesn’t feel like you can tip the unit. Had vocation at 5degrees was lovely. Also had Stella unfiltered at 0 in a sunny day 👌🏻
I agree 👍 could do with making that temperature register faster! But I'm impressed with the build which I was concerned about. And looking forward to trying beers at different temps 👍🍻
@@biggeorgeforeman yeah it would have been. Even when it had finished snaking though it came on at 10 degrees to begin with. Could also say that the simplicity of the original means firmware updates aren't needed. Will try and do a comparison again at some point though 👍🍻
Thank you Sir for a informative vid 🙏. Just bought the OG PD and think it’s a treat to pour me a draft beer at home. BUT as many others already said different beer types craves different temps to get that flavor to pop out, and who dosen’t wants to have two different beers on tap at any given time. Now we JUST have to convince the wifey to understand that it’s a good idéer to have another one taking up space, might even be a bigger problem than the money to buy one 😂. Have a stellar weekend. Cheers 🍻🇸🇪
Thanks for the comment! I love the original and of you're happy with it, I wouldn't rush out for this. Maybe let them iron out a few issues first. The temperature is a big factor though and will hopefully help, like you say, pop some of those flavours out for some of the beers! Have a top weekend also! Enjoy! 👍🍻
Plastic bag in aluminium keg, they are the same. Only one might cool keg quicker, however if you also own a fridge. Job done and I like my machine and choice of beers.
Just bought the original and love it. Don't think the pro is worth the extra. And am using my pro for lager only. Nice and chilled at 3. Good enough for me. I've got 3 setups, Pint 365 from a beer in a bag, the keg setup in fridge, and now the perfect draft. Reviewed them all on You Tube. Love all 3 for different reasons. Cheers.
Excellent video Baldy, enjoyed watching that. I’ve had an original PD since Christmas (thanks to my awesome wife!), and I don’t think I’d personally upgrade as I find the 3 degrees suits the types of beers I drink (lagers and Pale Ales / IPA’s). The new machine does look great, although considerably bigger than the Philips. The temperature display was a bit of a concern - did it ever stop spinning and actually tell the temperature?! Any reason found for this problem? And finally, who makes the new machine if it’s not Philips? Keep up the good work Baldy, I enjoy your reviews. I’ve got a feeling Brewdog Elvis Juice might be on the way soon, so I’ll be having to get a keg of that one 🍻😃
Cheers! If you're happy with 3 degrees I'd stick! It did stop spinning round and I think I extended it by swapping out the kegs, still, that needs improvement! It's inbev themselves that are making this, so hopefully the warranty and repairs will be ok. Philips as we know are always excellent! Have a top weekend fella! 👍🍻
Cheers! You'd be fine switching it off but I would recommend putting the keg in the fridge to help it get to temperature quicker when you load it back in. Since this review, the app for the pro now has a power saving option. So it chills the keg less when you're not using it and you can schedule it to chill at a given time... 👍🍻
Thanks for your very good review! Can you say something about the power consumption? I have a none pro and noticed that the consumption in idle mode (3°C reached ) is 50 watt and when active (cooling) it consumes 70 watt
Hi Baldy, as ever an amazing reveiw! I love got to be honest I love my beer, and the temp options is a big seller. For me though its just too dman big and intrusive looking! The original just looks sleaker and for me more compact and pro. This looks basically like a fridge with a tap on (which it essentially is) . It would just look out of place on my bar. If it was like the old one, but with the temp option I'd be purchasing even if that was a marriage ender!
Cheers fella! It is a more imposing machine has to be said. The size there is no getting over, but I'm sure skins will be readily available soon to make it looks bit different if required. In fact I've seem a few already. Have a top weekend fella! 👍🍻
Easily one of the best reviewers mate, love your content keep it up, I'm tempted with one of these but my PD is only a year or so old so I'm not sure it's justifiable
Mine was damaged baldy...dents to the sides and scuffs to the plastic. Sent it back to beer hawk and still waiting for a replacement . Well annoyed. Decent video again mate....love the orchard pig cider
Sorry to hear that mate! Heard a few people say that was the case. Hope you get your replacement soon and it's in good condition! Yeah, looking forward to that cider! 👍🍻
Cheers! Yep, it'll work just fine without connecting to WiFi, you just won't be able to set the temperature and see the no. Pints left in the keg. Enjoy your new machine 👍🍻
How did you get the new machine to show temp did you have to do it by the app or did it do it itself after a period of time. Love the video. Just found you as looking to buy a home draught unit. Have subscribed & ticked the bell. 💖🇬🇧
The machine just does it by itself when it reaches your desired temperature which can be set via the app! Thanks! I've always been pleased with my PerfectDraft! 👍🍻
I've just bought one of these from Asda for £295. It's replacing a 5ltr mini keg dispenser. I have to agree with you on the temperature gauge but then, once a keg is in you shouldn't really open the door so it's not that big a deal. Everything else you have pretty much spot on for me, except.... The door seems to hit the drip tray if it's fully extended and that's on a totally flat surface. I know I can just push it in but I wondered if that was normal.
Cheers! I think since the review, they have improved the time it takes to show the temperature again. I think I've noticed that happen before. But not every time. It's worth checking the rubber feet underneath the machine! 👍🍻
Hi Baldy. My m8 has just got one. Having had a full in person touch, it's just not for me. It's so big and unweildly that it does feel like a first gen version of this type of device from say 2000. I do wonder if Phillips will release a tempt adjustable version of the original. Don't get me wrong it's a great bit of kit, but you'd almost expect a bigger keg. Its going to be polarising however I'm happy with my original PD, and if I want tempt variance i use my fridge as pre prep! Of course everyone is free to their own preference however if you have one, £350+ notes is about 10+kegs you could have. I'm todays climate I'd go with that over novelty. We were happy with the original, just wanted more variety. Let's not lose focus. 👍
Great comment fella, and certainly food for thought! Would be very interesting if Philips did release a new machine as well! Love the "let's keep focus" comment. Important stuff this chap! 😂👍🍻
I don’t know if I missed it in the video, but what is the energy consumption of the pro versus the original? It seems like the new cooling technology would not be nearly as energy efficient as just the cooling plate with the old machine. Also seems like there could be more parts for failure. Please share your thoughts.
The pro will consume more power. The original had a Max of 70w and Ave of 40w compared to the pro which has a max of 130w and average of 72w (although that is in a 25 degree room, so assume it would run lower than that slightly if you're in a 20 degree room). So it is going to cost more! 🍻
Nice video baldy 👍 I only bought my PD a few months ago so I'll be waiting a little while yet before going for the PD Pro. Btw, when you swapped the kegs over and the PD Pro was still going in circles, is it just waiting for you to set the desired temperature of the 'new' keg again before it displays anything?
Cheers 👍🍻 No, it defaults to 3 degrees. It's just trying to sense the temperature I think? Sounds like they're working on a firmware update to make that quicker 👍🍻
Great review Baldy, i just go my PD a few months ago, second hand for £100, can't fault it a 3⁰ is perfect for me, maybe in a few years if i see a second hand pro i might go for it then but not right now.
Hey Baldy, have you read the latest email from Beer Hawk? No more 15% discount code, and free delivery threshold increased from £50 to £90. Not impressed. Although they do say they are working on a loyalty scheme so we’ll see what that brings. Interested in your thoughts on this. In more positive news they say that there’s a new lager on its way to the PD, so I’ll look forward to seeing what that is.
Just seen this email as well. I guess it's too early to say as, like you say, they're working on a loyalty scheme. It's a bit of a kicker though at the moment. I think the £90 is pre 10% discount though for the delivery as that is important! Being positive, impressed with the rapid release of these new kegs have to say! 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews yes, the new kegs are coming along at a fair pace at the moment, and long may that continue! Hope the new lager isn’t Fosters / Carling / Carlsberg though 🤣
Still on the fence holding out for a PD deal. Can’t decide between original or new model but on waiting list for this to see. Going in man shed which does vary in temp and space a bit of an issue could original cope or should I stump up for new pro thoughts ? It won’t be on all the time only when cooling/serving beer so guess kegs can be removed when not in use and perhaps stored in fridge ? Lastly what’s power consumption like between the two models sorry for q’s .Thanks for video excellent stuff
If your man shed gets really hot the original may suffer whereas the pro will more likely hold its temp. Kegs can be taken out and stored in the fridge, just mark down when you took it out to keep track of the 30 days. I assume the Pro consumes more power than the original, but not sure on that one. 👍🍻
Hi, Thinking about getting a PD (i have a Sub) My shed bar gets hot in the summer which impacts the Sub temp, does the PD or PD pro perform better in the summer than a sub, or will I still have the same issue?
My pub shed gets hot in the summer as well. The sub and the original PD struggled in high temperatures but the newer PD pro keeps it's temperature really well 👍🍻
Just subbed and rang the little bell. I don't have either of these. Just working out what's best for me. I only drink lager. And the wife likes a cider. I don't like stout. So after owning this machine. Is it worth getting in an original or this? Because the original is a lot cheaper. Thanks
Good morning, I just received my new Perfect Draft Pro machine and the beer tube did not come with the machine! What do I do? I tried contacting the company in the meantime but I checked on the boxes and don’t see It.
Depends if you've got your next keg that's lined up in the fridge. If you've had a few kegs in the fridge overnight, they're pretty quick getting to temperature in the pro. Can be ready in 20-30mins 👍🍻
fist year we have had our beer machine and this weeks been a scorcher we put beer in on sunday and it sits at 5 to 6 maybe up to 8 its because the temp in the house is warm so when the fans bringing that warm air into your machine its not making the temp come down its not good at all
I really wish someone who take two kegs of the same ipa beer, load them from room temperature into the machines, then check cooling time plus pouring comparison. The kegs were probably different temperatures coming out of fridge and into machine. Moving and shaking the Bud keg between machines also made it hard to compare. Then later a comparison test with the Philips at 3 degrees and Pro warmer.
The kegs were put in the same fridge at the same time and taken out at the same time. They were even on the same shelf, so I couldn't have done much different there. Unfortunately didn't have 2 of the same keg which would have been good. To compare the same beer I could only really move it from one machine to the other. The original was on 3 degrees and as it only took about a minute to swap into the pro, and I left it about 30mins (cut from the video), although the pro was still registering the temp, I'm pretty certain that was at 3 degrees as well. When it did register it came on at 3. I'll look in future though at having 2 kegs the same. IPAs would want a bit warmer though which the original can't do, so would probably still compare a lager. Cheers 👍🍻
Just watched your review on the pro, I've got 2 off the originals and can't decide if to go for a pro, I do like the look off it, im looking forward to your review on the orchard pig, I've bought at least 10 kegs since launch, and I'm really a lager drinker , keep up the the good work love you reviews, cheers perfect drafter, cheers 🍻
Cheers fella! If you're a lager drinker it is less appealing I would say, especially if you have 2 already, sounds like you're set up quote nicely as it is! If you've got room though... Always tempting! 😉 Have a top weekend! 👍🍻
At the time the Philips was £350 now £250 or cheaper but the pro is more money now because it's bigger and WiFi it come down in the future like the Philips but if needed one now it be Philips because of the £100 different?
I think this will depend on usage. If you're using it everyday it won't make that much difference, if you're just using it at weekends however, it would! I'll look into it more though and put the info in a news video coming soon 👍🍻
Great video baldy . My machine does not go down past 3 by buttons . Havemt tried app yet . Is contol better through app? Made up with machine but downside is machine going round in circles for an hr . Will try app hoping that works with control, .. keep the good work up buddy 🍺😊
Yeah, think you have to set below 3 on the app. The app has an "extended range" toggle! It feels a quality machine has to be said, but agree, could do with that temperature registering quicker! Have a top weekend fella! 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews Thanks baldy appreciate reply .. will sort the app out for weekend .. seems a great machine though and what a nice selection we have now with all the new kegs out .. will look forward to all your new reviews on them .. cheers 🍻 enjoy Father’s Day weekend 🍺
Great review Baldy. The new machine looks awesome, but I think I’ll sick with the original for now, I do like the idea of being able to adjust the temp, 3 deg is a bit cold for some of the beers. Might get myself one for Xmas.
Hi, Do you know who makes and manufactures the PerfectDraft Pro machine? .... As Philips made the original PerfectDraft machine, so who's making the new Pro machine?
Inbev themselves are making the pro, wouldn't be surprised if many of the parts are made in the same place the Philips machine is though. The majority of the Philips machine is made in china the same as the pro machine. It feels great quality, they both do. So it will be the aftercare service that will really matter in my opinion 👍🍻
One real difference is you can use a typical European half litre glass, no problem. Old machine only takes a pint glass. The app sorts out the display, very quickly. Better taste from pro in my experience
I think that's more to do with the keg return system in the US, as in, they do t have to organise that with those kegs. Can't see them switching over in Europe to those kegs, not any time soon anyway! 👍🍻
I would hope so. It would certainly open it up to more stouts and bitters. I'm sure some brewery's would only consider it with this temperature range. That said, looks like they've discontinued dark arts, which is a real shame!
Good review. I have the original and working fine for months. I put a new keg in and the pump just ran continuously and the beer came out all frothy and I wasted the keg. Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks! That sounds like it could have been a faulty keg. Either that or your o ring on the tap handle is damaged, worth having a look at that before you load your next keg! 👍🍻
Hi all, Want ask, I have something different one but it's does noise every 5 min it's like compressor need pressure for few sec. So every few min it's does noise for few sec. Its does this one is well? I thing to change it but want some quiet one.
That's either a faulty keg or the o ring on the tap connector is damaged. If you take the keg out and can hear a hissing even with the tap connector on and off then it's the keg. If there's a hissing with the tap connector on but not when you take it off, it's more likely the tap connector o ring that is damaged
Boils down to two things I would say. How important is variable temperature to you? That makes IPAs and stouts (if we get any!) Taste a bit better. If you're a lager drinker, 3 degrees is spot on anyway. Then how hot where you're going to put it is? Although today and tomorrow are roasting days, we don't get loads of days like these in the UK. But when we do, the pro keeps its temperature really well whereas the original would struggle. If those two reasons don't bother you, go for the original! 👍🍻
It's probably a touch more comparable to the blade now, but the bigger kegs on the blade still differentiate the two significantly I would say. If I was choosing between the two, it would all be down to my preference of beer rather than the machine itself 👍🍻
What would piss me off is the time the Pro takes to connect for the temperature. After you connected the Bud Light keg, it still hadn't conected at the end of your video. I will stick to my original mate.
They've speeded it up now tbf. Still not pretty much instant like the original though. On this video it was also doing firmware updates which didn't help and at the time it recalculated every time you opened and closed the doors! 🙄
Still cannot decide what one to go for the issue is I only have a room in my kitchen for one lol I just use my fizzics at the moment but that’s for cans or bottles only
Had one for 6 months now. You notice kegs chill quicker after a couple weeks, maybe the machine is just getting used to being on. It does come into its own when you use the variable temp though.
I thought that may be the case and will do a follow-up review on that. Just wanted both of them off to make it fair. Gonna like trying beers at different temps I'm sure 👍🍻
Had mine since launch, used to struggle getting my tall pint glasses under the pouring spout, no problems at all with the pro, love the lager at 1°c too, if you've got the original I don't think it's 150 quid better but it's definitely better for sure.
Hi BBR, great review in-depth. I had the original for 17 months had ipa’s and lagers. I wanted the pro because I know Iam going to lean more towards the beer that where better at higher temps, vocation was a cracker at higher temp, but the strength creeps up on you. 😂. My experience with the pro has been great up to now. Thanks for the great video 👍👍👍
Thanks Jim! I agree, those beers where the higher temp comes in for extra flavour will be that bit better in the pro. Also I've just been to my pub shed and the original is struggling in this heat, it's on 6 degrees. While the pro is holding steady at 3 degrees 👍🍻
Cheers for the thorough review Baldy! I was sitting on the fence and funnily enough just got an email saying that more of the Pro machines are being released on Monday. Think i'm going to stick with the original machine though as i only drink lager so 3°C is perfect, would be splashing cash because i wanted not needed. Looking forward to your Bud Light review.....
It took a long time to begin with because it was doing a firmware update. Then it also recalculates the temp whenever the door has been opened, which I did a few times. Basically if you load a keg normally without all that faffing about it takes 30-40mins, tells you the temperature and then that's it until you finish the keg 👍🍻
Great vid, Mr Baldy. I think I’ve decided to go for PD pro. Was gonna get the sub, but torp prices are just insane. I will miss my Birra Moretti, but I’m sure the PD pro has something just as good, if not better. Love your work, sir. Keep it up. Did you ever sort out the temp thing for the pro, by the way?
Sure you'll love it fella! Torps are on the expensive side for sure! They've made some good firmware updates since this video and the temperature now registers pretty quick! 👍🍻
Hi I got a perfect draft pro yesterday chilled the keg in the fridge for 7hrs but it only got the keg down to 13c but it still took the draft pro 8hrs to get it too 4c is there something wrong with my machine or is that normal
Great video!! Just a thought for your next video, you could give ideas for the best beer/cider pair-idge, if someone has bought a PD pro when they already have a PD - what you would or wouldn’t pair and which PD machine you would use for which drink. If I may be so bold - I’d pair Stella Artois in the PD (this drink can be served at 3c). Then (controversial) Punk ipa in the PdP with the chill-idge set to 6c or 7c (some experimentation may be need). Or scrap that idea and just go through the best beers that will make use of the new chillidge control. Cheers Baldy 🍻
Cheers! That's a good idea, like it! Will certainly be experimenting with some different temperatures in my reviews soon. Lager though, as you say, is hard to beat at 3 degrees anyway. Have a top weekend! 👍🍻
Well I as you know I not long converted from the Krups to PD but I have the original, based on you fantastic video I think I’ll stick with the original. I’ve only had a Stella keg from my PD and the Mikkeller Heated Seat is chilling now, think your chart is what I will go by but will keep in touch.
The difference between them....I can't see how it warrants the extra price? Seems just a gimmick with the app etc .. I really thought it would chill the keg so much faster. I'll leave it and maybe just buy another original.
I expected quicker cooling. I'll see what it's like on the next keg when it's already been on. This was tested with both machines off. The original is a quality machine though and if you're a lager fan, takes a lot of beating! 👍🍻
Hi! In Germany the Pro machine is coming! Maybe so late because we are a bit more price sensitive then the scottish people! ;) Maybe thats the reason why we have in stores just only 5 German brands and Leffe Blonde… I have two questions: I guess the Pro has a less power consumption than the original, because it is more build like a fridge. is my assumption correct? Which company ist building the Pro… is it still Philips!? Thank you for your answers & Prost! Btw: Guinness Stout ist my favourite Beer, although i life in Becks City (Bremen) !
Hi! You're in for a treat! The Pro machine isn't made by Philips, it's by PerfectDraft themselves. I've actually done a video on the costs of running both machines, so that's worth a look. The Pro has a higher Kw output, but it does drop when just keeping the keg at temperature. Also the app has scheduling capabilities so you can use less power when you're not going to use the machine for a period of time! Hope that helps! Enjoy! 👍🍻
Okay for the temperature I would really be one who should buy it, because I drink ipas and Belgium ales for the most part. I never was a lager drinker. But I guess I'll pass because I don't own my machine that long and it would be quiet some money for that temperature feature alone. Great review again.😊 Made things clearer for me and in the end, I will wait until my machine says good night, what I hope won't happen too soon. And one thing at last: I still think the old design is better. 😉
The original is a belter of a machine which I have a large soft spot for, so don't blame you one bit. 3 degrees is actually a great general temperature. Have a great rest of the weekend 👍🍻
Hey dude can you look at the True Direct Draw Kegerator Black TDD-1 I say this as rather than working out at £2.70 a pint for stella providing you send the keg back otherwise 3.30, its £1.60.
It's a monstrosity that looks like a Mac from the 2000s, I'd just wait until Philips releases their own temperature changeable machine. If you looked at both machines and you'd never seen either before you'd guess the pro was the older machine by a long stretch just from its size and general look.
Agree 100%. The original is just so much sleeker looking than this. This looks like a gen 2 or early 00s attempt. I may be in the minority but I don't like it at all!
Makes a big difference if the machine is on when switching kegs. I had the original switched off so the metal plate wasn't even slightly cold. I've had the keg down to temperature in the original in well under an hour before as well when the machine was on from the previous keg 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews was trying that didn’t work just said try again later ended up doing the bug report in app and half hour later it gave me the option love having the option to change the temp can set it bit higher if you know your not gonna be drinking then turn it back down if not got work the next day cheers for getting back 👍🏻
i will buy the Pro because my original is really noisy fan. dont like this. how is the wattage usage? my original use 65-72Watts and every 4h 35-40Watts with a silent queeek noise from coil
It took ages to register, well over the hour it said. I think they are working on a firmware update for that. It did register and then when I swapped out the kegs started spinning round again. Like I said in the video, the original knew straight away! Hopefully they'll fix that 👍🍻
Yeah, it would be fine. The only thing I can think of that you might not be able to do is set the temperature to 0 degrees. As is set via the app as an "extended range". You could set it down to 3 degrees via the machine. So with that being said, it depends how important setting the temperature with a more limited range is to you? You would still be able to set between 3 and 7. But if you are happy with 3 degrees then maybe worth considering the Philips PerfectDraft 👍🍻
£370? Thatr's me finished with the Perfectdraft I'll be going for the Blade, at the sme price for a keg but TWO Litres more beer and no messing about with keg returns!!! that take forever to get your credit!
Baldy, so far I’m not that impressed with the PRO. I’ve always found Stella always has a large head on the PD but on the PRO it seems flatter. Is this because 3C on the PRO is lower than the Phillips PD.
Thank you sir for a very informative video. I'm in a dilemma. I've had my PD machine for 10 months now (so it's coming to a year), and I'm a lager bloke... So the 3 degrees is OK for me. There may be times where I may need a colder drink, but that is now or then. The dilemma is, do i take the plunge for the Pro model.... BeerHawk are currently giving of around £77 off with a special voucher code, and are offering £150 worth of credits for those who are returning their old PD machine back... Therefore taking this into account.... the Pro machine is actually costing me around "£158". The issue that I'm struggling with is that I know that the current offer from Beerhawk won't be there for long, and that this is probably the best time to buy the Pro machine on the "cheap".... But for an "extra £158".....is this worth the plunge or should I stick with my PD machine?
If that was me, personally, I would stick with the original. The beer tokens for your current machine (wouldn't class it as old being 10months in) is beer tokens, so have to be spent with beerhawk, not quite as good as cash in the hand. Being a lager drinker, the original has these set at the ideal temp of 3 degrees anyway. I'm sure there will be many times that beerhawk further down the line will offer 15% or 20% off this machine. They maybe won't continue with the trade in offer. But will have marked the price up to be able to offer that discount. That's just me though chap 👍🍻
Great stuff! Always good to hear when a review is helpful!
Hope you enjoy when you get it! And hope you have a top birthday! 👍🍻
Tell her either the perfect draught stays or you go . No negotiation .
Brought the pro 3 weeks ago & love it. Traded my old machine in £150 beer tokens & got 20% off the pro too.
Excellent stuff!
Glad you're enjoying the pro! 👍🍻
It’s so big it looks too serious. The old PD wasn’t too different to the kettle, toaster or coffee machine and could happily sit alongside them without annoying the wife too much. But the Pro is a statement machine - it says I want my beer and I want pride and place on the kitchen counter.
The question is, does it get that pride of place fella? 👍🍻
Divorce is a simple process these days 🤷🏻♂️🤣
I just bought a pro and made space because I had two of the originals, I can get my coffee machine in beside the pro now. My wife couldn't care less as there is plenty space. If I buy a second one then that'll definitely have to live in the workshop.
Another superb review Baldy. Taken the plunge, Pro arrives on Wednesday with a keg of Franziskaner Weissbier. Can’t wait. Keep up the great work.
Great first keg to try in your new machine fella! Enjoy! 👍🍻
Review as always on point and done in your original style. I have had my PD Pro now for a wee while and it sites on my bar with its little brother the PD, and is a great addition to the family
Great stuff! Like to hear of both of them sitting in harmony!
Enjoy! 👍🍻
Great reviews. If I buy one it will be on your advice and enthusiasm for the product. Just subscribed … cheers!!!
If you get one, hope you like it fella!
Cheers for the sub!
Have a beauty of a weekend! 👍🍻
Just got mine first keg drank and loving the Perfect Draft Pro !
Cracking stuff! Glad you're enjoying it!
Have a top week! 👍🍻
Liked and subscribed. Thanks for the great review. My local off licence is an official supplier of the perfect draft machines and kegs. After watching your review I'm going to call in tonight and pick up the pro model. I've thus far, owned neither model
Cheers 👍🍻
You've done well having that local! Did you pick one up?
@@BigBaldReviews thanks mate. I live very close to the northern Irish border and my mate has an off licence there that supplies them. I litteraly just set the machine up a half an hour ago and downloaded the app and connected it to the WiFi. It's still not calculating the temperature of the keg. Is it normal for this to take over a half an hour.
Great stuff!
Yeah, the first time can take several hours! It's because it's downloading all the firmware updates. You'll be good for the weekend! 👍🍻
Worth it for me
Yep, makes 100% sense! Looking forward to trying a few beers at different temps! 👍🍻
First beer through the new machine was st feuillien blonde had that set at 7 as an experiment with pro, really good I’d recommend giving that a review at a higher temp was up there for me!
@@ryanmcelroy8941 have that one in stock, so may just do that 👍🍻
PerfectDreview thanks for the time you spent on all those detailed explanations.
Cheers! 👍🍻
I've purchased one of these bad boys. Absolutely fantastic imho. They have temperature control & it pours perfectly. Still love my PD but this is a different level especially when you like Ipa's.
It does seem a class machine!
Looking forward to trying a few beers at different temps 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews Lager at zero degrees in the summer is a game changer imo.
I think it was doing firmware updates reason it was slow to show temperature and showing the snake, updating the firmware 1st would have been better.
@@biggeorgeforeman yeah it would have been. Even when it had finished snaking though it came on at 10 degrees to begin with.
Could also say that the simplicity of the original means firmware updates aren't needed.
Will try and do a comparison again at some point though 👍🍻
Waiting for this review, nice one. On point as usual.
Cheers fella! 👍🍻
Hi great review, I’m looking into buying my first one just a bit worried about the noise, are they really loud? Which one is quieter? Cheers 🍻
Enjoy the beers fella! That's what it's all about 👍🍻
Just bought the original and love it. Cheers.
Fair play! Sounds like you've got quite the setup there anyway!
Really need to get using my pint365! 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews Yep, beer in a bag on end of line is easy enough. Do like my perfect draft though and at a good price at the moment. Cheers.
Superb machine got the Matt black machine. Trust me it’s brilliant
Great stuff! 👍🍺
Thanks for your superb reviewing once again Baldy. Looking forward to some supersize snackage reviews to go with the pro! 👌
Just gotta hunt down those surprising snacks! 😉👍🍻
It’s simple you will save money when you are not using it just lower the temperature it’s perfect having a temp control.
It does work well! I'm impressed with the pro! 👍🍻
Great review! Thinking of getting the original on black friday sale. I only drink weekends, can I turn off during the week or would the beer go off?
Cheers! You'd be fine switching it off but I would recommend putting the keg in the fridge to help it get to temperature quicker when you load it back in.
Since this review, the app for the pro now has a power saving option. So it chills the keg less when you're not using it and you can schedule it to chill at a given time... 👍🍻
“I’ll get it out” absolutely creased when you realised what youd said 🤣
🤣👍🍻
Thanks for your very good review!
Can you say something about the power consumption?
I have a none pro and noticed that the consumption in idle mode (3°C reached ) is 50 watt and when active (cooling) it consumes 70 watt
Thanks!.
I've done a cost video on my channel! Hope it helps! 👍🍺
Cheers Baldy 👍
Temp isn't an issue with me as I just like lager beers which are always best at supper cool. I hate warm beer, so 3 degrees is perfect.
Easily one of the best reviewers mate, love your content keep it up, I'm tempted with one of these but my PD is only a year or so old so I'm not sure it's justifiable
Cheers! 👍🍻
I'd agree if it's only a year or so old.
Have a quality rest of the weekend! 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews ended up giving in and ordering today! 🤣
@Gaddy618 how do you find it a year later?

Mine was damaged baldy...dents to the sides and scuffs to the plastic. Sent it back to beer hawk and still waiting for a replacement . Well annoyed. Decent video again mate....love the orchard pig cider
Sorry to hear that mate! Heard a few people say that was the case. Hope you get your replacement soon and it's in good condition!
Yeah, looking forward to that cider! 👍🍻
Thanks for the review, first time buyer and mainly ale drinker so I have just ordered the Pro. One question, does it work without connecting to WiFi?
Cheers 👍🍻
No, it defaults to 3 degrees.
Reckon that's a wise move fella!
Enjoy those beverages chap! 👍🍻

Thanks
Cheers!
I'd say for lager and cider unless you want it below 3 degrees which is very cold anyway the original is ideal 👍🍻
Good morning, I just received my new Perfect Draft Pro machine and the beer tube did not come with the machine! What do I do? I tried contacting the company in the meantime but I checked on the boxes and don’t see It.
The tube that goes through the tap handle comes with the kegs. This is so you get a fresh tube for each new beer 👍🍻
Can you tell me once you finish a keg, few mates round… you have to wait four hours for new one to get cold?
Depends if you've got your next keg that's lined up in the fridge. If you've had a few kegs in the fridge overnight, they're pretty quick getting to temperature in the pro. Can be ready in 20-30mins 👍🍻
fist year we have had our beer machine and this weeks been a scorcher we put beer in on sunday and it sits at 5 to 6 maybe up to 8 its because the temp in the house is warm so when the fans bringing that warm air into your machine its not making the temp come down its not good at all
Is this with the Pro or original Philips machine?
@@BigBaldReviews origional its ok now i think its because of the heat and they were next to one another i think it wasnt getting enough ventalation
@@jamiefairlie4837 fair doos, you do need a bit of space around it. Hope it stays nice and chilled for the rest of your summer fella! Cheers! 👍🍻
Cheers 👍🍻
Can't wait to see the difference in taste with dark beer.
Can't wait to order one since my machine broke down last week :(
Should make a bit of difference with those for sure!
Are you on the waiting list? 👍🍻

If you're a lager drinker it is less appealing I would say, especially if you have 2 already, sounds like you're set up quote nicely as it is! If you've got room though... Always tempting! 😉

Well what can I say you are funny AF lol, loving the videos you have just made me buy an original PD and a pro version after watching this video lol

At the time the Philips was £350 now £250 or cheaper but the pro is more money now because it's bigger and WiFi it come down in the future like the Philips but if needed one now it be Philips because of the £100 different?
Any information on how much difference the eco mode makes to ur energy consumption yet.

Great review Baldy. The new machine looks awesome, but I think I’ll sick with the original for now, I do like the idea of being able to adjust the temp, 3 deg is a bit cold for some of the beers. Might get myself one for Xmas.

And a great Christmas present it would make! 👍🍻
Hi,
Do you know who makes and manufactures the PerfectDraft Pro machine?
It's a fair point! I've always had a decent pour from the pro! 👍🍻
In the States they seem to have different / New Kegs. These will not fit in the old Machine. Now i dont know if i should go with the New one.
I think that's more to do with the keg return system in the US, as in, they do t have to organise that with those kegs.
Can't see them switching over in Europe to those kegs, not any time soon anyway! 👍🍻
Do you know with the launch of the pro are they looking to launch more stouts and maybe even bitters? Due to the temp range.
I would hope so. It would certainly open it up to more stouts and bitters. I'm sure some brewery's would only consider it with this temperature range.
That said, looks like they've discontinued dark arts, which is a real shame!
Does pro tell you how many pints left in Keg. And is it accurate . Phillips is way out with how many pints left.
It estimates it the same as the Philips one. I've not had enough kegs through it yet to tell how accurate it is. But it seems ok so far 👍🍻
Hi all,
Want ask, I have something different one but it's does noise every 5 min it's like compressor need pressure for few sec.
It would be interesting to know the difference in power consumption...
I've done a "real costs" video that could help you with that 👍🍻
is they grey bit plastic too?
Shame if it is, have the little flexi magnets for the kegs.
Yeah, pretty solid though. Feels good quality 👍🍻
Looking to get a PD machine for the first time...is the pro really worth the extra money over the original for a first timer?
Boils down to two things I would say. How important is variable temperature to you? That makes IPAs and stouts (if we get any!) Taste a bit better. If you're a lager drinker, 3 degrees is spot on anyway.
Then how hot where you're going to put it is? Although today and tomorrow are roasting days, we don't get loads of days like these in the UK. But when we do, the pro keeps its temperature really well whereas the original would struggle.
If those two reasons don't bother you, go for the original! 👍🍻
Great video again. With the big jump in price how does the pro machine compare to the blade machine?
Great review as always fella. Deffo food for thought 🤔🤔
Cheers chap! 👍🍻
Still cannot decide what one to go for the issue is I only have a room in my kitchen for one lol I just use my fizzics at the moment but that’s for cans or bottles only
Are you sure though? Look for other things that could be removed from the kitchen like a kettle, oven, fridge... There might be options! 😉👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews haha very good point
Can you change kegs halfway thru?
Yep!
Best to keep a track of the days the one you're taking out has been opened still. But it's fine to swap out kegs! 👍🍻
@BigBaldReviews cool I've just bought the pro a d 4 kegs can't wait to receive it
Had one for 6 months now.
I've had the same with a few tall glasses. Frankie and kwak glasses spring to mind.
£150 better? I need some more time with it first I reckon 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews I'd had the Ukrainian lager in 2degrees in an very hot room no problem and silent apart from the odd compressor noise.
Cheers!
Lager at 3 degrees is spot on, so don't blame you!
Ha! Can't wait for that bud light! 👍🍻
The pro seemed to be searching for temperature virtually all video, was this just teething trouble, or is it like that until it hits set temp?
It took a long time to begin with because it was doing a firmware update. Then it also recalculates the temp whenever the door has been opened, which I did a few times. Basically if you load a keg normally without all that faffing about it takes 30-40mins, tells you the temperature and then that's it until you finish the keg 👍🍻
Looks like a solid desktop pc with a tap on it. 😋
😂 that's a pretty accurate comparison to be fair! 👍🍻

Well I as you know I not long converted from the Krups to PD but I have the original, based on you fantastic video I think I’ll stick with the original.
I’ve only had a Stella keg from my PD and the Mikkeller Heated Seat is chilling now, think your chart is what I will go by but will keep in touch.
Sounds wise to me fella!
Hope you enjoy that heated seats! 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews just tried heated seats and it’s ok, bit the best but ok.
what is the machine behind perfect draft?
Fizzics draft pour or the original PerfectDraft 👍🍺
Are they doing a trade in with old machine ive just ordered the pro
I believe so. Think you would get £150 in beer tokens 👍🍻
What's the point of the magnets?
You can swap them for branded magnets that show what you've got in there! 👍🍺
Maybe so late because we are a bit more price sensitive then the scottish people! ;)
Maybe thats the reason why we have in stores just only 5 German brands and Leffe Blonde…
I have two questions:
I guess the Pro has a less power consumption than the original, because it is more build like a fridge. is my assumption correct?
Enjoy! 👍🍻
Top review as usual I’ll get one now 😂
Cheers! 👍🍺
Hey dude can you look at the True Direct Draw Kegerator Black TDD-1
I say this as rather than working out at £2.70 a pint for stella providing you send the keg back otherwise 3.30, its £1.60.
Would love to! But at £1.5k it's a bit pricey for me I'm afraid 😬👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews after 1500 pints its paid for its self, suppose that depends on your habit and the amount of friends you have :)
@@ohdfghjkcvbnm2545 😂
Not that many unfortunately! 😂👍🍻
Hi people i have only just bought mine the original one im more of a large and cider head so what one would be best for that
I think the original is absolutely fine for lager and cider drinkers. Not much more benefit with the Pro for those 👍🍻
@@BigBaldReviews thank pal keep up the good videos
It's a monstrosity that looks like a Mac from the 2000s, I'd just wait until Philips releases their own temperature changeable machine. If you looked at both machines and you'd never seen either before you'd guess the pro was the older machine by a long stretch just from its size and general look.
Agree 100%. The original is just so much sleeker looking than this. This looks like a gen 2 or early 00s attempt. I may be in the minority but I don't like it at all!
There's certainly gonna be lovers and haters if how this looks. It feels better quality than I was expecting though 👍🍻
I've the original pd and when I pre chill the keg it only takes like 20 min maybe to get to 3°
Makes a big difference if the machine is on when switching kegs. I had the original switched off so the metal plate wasn't even slightly cold. I've had the keg down to temperature in the original in well under an hour before as well when the machine was on from the previous keg 👍🍻
How do you unlock the extended temperature control every time I try switching it on I get an error try again later message
In the app if you press the temperature there is an extended temperature range toggle. Is that where you get the error?
@@BigBaldReviews was trying that didn’t work just said try again later ended up doing the bug report in app and half hour later it gave me the option love having the option to change the temp can set it bit higher if you know your not gonna be drinking then turn it back down if not got work the next day cheers for getting back 👍🏻
i will buy the Pro because my original is really noisy fan. dont like this. how is the wattage usage? my original use 65-72Watts and every 4h 35-40Watts with a silent queeek noise from coil
If you check out my other videos of done a "what are the costs" video, that should help 👍🍻
Why does the pro take so long to register the temperature? It was spinning round for the length of the video once you changed the bud light over 🤔
It took ages to register, well over the hour it said. I think they are working on a firmware update for that.
It did register and then when I swapped out the kegs started spinning round again. Like I said in the video, the original knew straight away!
Hopefully they'll fix that 👍🍻
I might sound thick but i dont have a smart phone to down load the app...can i still get one
My one arrives tmrw,it looks too big,may have made a mistake 🤷🏻♂️
Dollarage, coolage, tappage, keggage, cleanage, draftage, spaceage. I am learning the language of beer very quickage.
😂
£370? Thatr's me finished with the Perfectdraft I'll be going for the Blade, at the sme price for a keg but TWO Litres more beer and no messing about with keg returns!!! that take forever to get your credit!
Reckon you will normally get this around the £300 mark!
Also there is now an advanced keg credit scheme which is good! enjoy! 👍🍻
I prefer the original look but then again I've got the lowenbrau magnets on mine ...
Got to admit, I'm a fan of the original. Always will be! 👍🍻
Baldy, so far I’m not that impressed with the PRO. I’ve always found Stella always has a large head on the PD but on the PRO it seems flatter. Is this because 3C on the PRO is lower than the Phillips PD.
Wouldn't have thought so chap! I've not had Stella through the Pro yet though to comment. Hope it improves for you fella! 👍🍻
