  • The Arabian oryx is a beautiful, almost luminously white antelope. But, after being over-hunted by humans in the 20th century, it only narrowly escaped extinction. Today, on the desert island of Sir Bani Yas, the endangered animals find refuge.
Part of an archipelago west of Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas is home to a large wildlife reserve, where animals from Arabia, Asia and Africa roam freely. You can watch cheetahs hunting, and imagine how the Bedouins once lived, under open desert skies.
Established in the 1970s, extensive ecological measures turned Sir Bani Yas into a man-made "paradise for wild animals." Now, the reserve stands for the region’s desire for a sustainable future. It’s also a great place to see the magnificent Arabian oryx running free, once more.

I never thought that a national symbol can be shared by different countries. It is really interesting how the UAE, Jordan, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain share the same national animal.

The UAE is a beautiful and lovely nation and what the government did transforming a desert into a rapidly growing and evolving country is astonishing, and this inactive of developing a safe and protected sanctuary of endangered animals that could otherwise been porched and killed for profit making by hunters is a notable deed.

Great UAE 🇦🇪 to protect & conserve the "world of animals " in a natural way. This island looks a mini Africa.

Really enjoy how the creators of this documentary did not "get in the way" of the content, this was such an enjoyable watch, the people of the UAE are blessed with some incredibly selfless leaders who really care about their country and the blessings being passed onto the next generation

Wow, that falcon doctor is getting more experience than a hundred exotic animal veterinarians. I think they said that there were 11,000 falconers in the area? I tell you what, if you got a sick or injured falcon, and you want the best, you need this lady!
