Ive asked for 1) all-dressed chips 2) kalamata olives 3)generically exotic food so this is a kid after my own heart I love to cook its one of my love languages so food focus makes sense
I love the delivery guy that came to me last year. He saw it was toys so presumed they were for Xmas. He knocked on the door and told me he had a delivery for me and do I have any black bags or some boxes to put them in. He knew I wouldn't want the kids to see them so went out his way to make sure they were hidden from prying eyes
Those are also the types of moments you both look back fondly over. When that kid is 30 he and his dad will laugh about it every Christmas. Guaranteed.
Honestly, I would actually be happy if I received a large bottle of soft drink as my Christmas gift, I'd get to have the whole bottle to myself and no one can complain about sharing since it was gifted to me.
It made me smile too 😊 It reminded me of my kids when they were little and they decided to get their dad a baby Christmas tree 🎄 as he always had a real tree when he was growing up and we always have a fake one. So the kids decided to buy him a real one when they saw them at the florist. Omg they were so excited when they gave it to him so much so he got it the day they bought it which was over a week before Christmas and he loved it the kids just like that little boy were bouncing with excitement when they gave him it lol. That tree was tiny when we got it, he was only 20cm high !! The kids decided to call it Charlie and they decorated it every year with tree decorations for over 20 years !! They even insisted Charlie came with us when we moved house. Two years ago charlie tree was over 12 ft high !! sadly we had to move him that year as he was far too close to the house, my son who is a tree surgeon said it was risky but sonce hed already been moved teice before he maybe ok this time too and told us give him lots of sugar water to try prevent him going into shock, i fidnt know trees couls fven suffer from shock lol, sadly charlie the tree died and tes it was shock 😥 I was gutted since we had had it so long I was more upset than the others about the death of that tree 🙈🤣. I know it was only a tree but i was giso upset that hed died 😢 my partner and kids knew I was upset about Charlie dying so they planned a suprise for my birthday, they took me to the local garden nursery and bought me a new baby Christmas tree 🎄 hes only 3ft high and we named him Sammy and no I have no idea why we felt they should be named but it seemed like a good idea at the time lol 🙈🤣 I made sure they planted him far from the house so that they don't need to move him later on and risk killing him my kids are all grown up now but me and my daughter still decorate Sammy just like we did with Charlie for all those years 😃
When I was six years old, my mom took me to the store to pick out a bicycle for my cousin's Christmas present. She had me try each one out "because you're the same size as her," and had me choose the very best one, with a helmet and everything to go with it. I was a little jealous of my cousin for getting such an awesome gift, but at the same time I was super excited to give it to her! I kept the secret all month, and on Christmas morning, I got the same exact bike!! It turns out, the bike had been for ME all along! The best part was that my cousin's parents had pulled the same trick and we both had the bikes that we loved that year.
my mom did this when i was like 4, she brought me to the stuffed animal aisle at walmart and had me pick out the best stuffed animal i could find for my 2yo cousin (lifelong best friend, even now at 24 and 22). i chose a stuffed lion, named it Cubby, and slept with it every night so it would be full of love and warmth and "broken in" for her. When my cousin's bday came around (right before xmas), i brought cubby to my cousin's house and was reluctantly abt to give him away, crying a bit but also eager to see my cousin happy, when my mom gave my cousin a stuffed bear instead and was like "now you guys can play together!" I still sleep with Cubby by my bed to this day and we have been through some hardships but he will always be the most dear thing to my heart (materialistically lol) 🥹😭
My foster parents did this with me when I was 10. I went into foster care in late November so my foster parents didn't know me very well when Christmas shopping came around. They told me they were shopping for another little girl and to pick out things I thought she would like.
My mom was always so over the top appreciative over any little thing. One year I wrapped up this disgusting, super stinky pair of skechers...she opened it up, you could see the little stink waves emanating from the shoes..the wondrous look on her face was priceless! She was thanking us so sincerely, and we were all just dying! It took her a few minutes before she fully realized we were pokin fun of her. This will be our first Christmas without her...enjoy your time with your family, yall. Every. Single. Moment. Is. Special.
What had your mother done for you to play that prank on her? Did you ever regret doing that to her? If she was such a great mother to you, and you pull a rotten trick like that, you should be ashamed, and she didn't deserve to have such a rotten child, and you probably didn't deserve to have her as your mother. You are an evil, rotten kid! May karma come to you with payback!
I’m so sorry for your loss. 4 years ago I lost my grandmother, who was my best friend, unexpectedly. Christmas was our favorite time of year, and we would do so many things together preparing, shopping and celebrating during the holiday season. I’m so thankful that the very last Christmas I had with her, I didn’t really even open any of my own presents and instead sat next to her the whole time helping her open hers and just fully enjoying her company in the moment. It felt like just the two of us, even though we were in the same room with the rest of the family. I cherish that memory every year. She was also the type who would have been beyond thankful and genuinely elated no matter what if it was something I gave her. That first Christmas without her was soul crushing. And honestly, even four years later it’s still so painful to not have her to share the holiday season with. Christmas just hasn’t been the same without her. But I’m thankful for the time I did have, and I’m thankful for all of the happy memories, and I’m also grateful for the few close family members I still have left. Sometimes those things are the only things that pull me through. It’s a very bittersweet time of year. Every moment is beyond special. You never know when it will be your last moment with a loved one. My grandmother was 73, healthy with zero signs of passing. But one morning, she was just gone, without warning and without a chance to say goodbye. Anything can happen at any moment, and we all need to be reminded to fully live in the present and cherish every moment we have with those we love. Those memories won’t fully take the pain of loss away, but they they will be what you will cling onto for comfort to remember a loved one who is no longer here. Again, I am so sorry that your mother has passed. And I’m sorry that this Christmas season will be so bittersweet without her joyful presence in the flesh. I’m blessed to still have my mother, and I will be sure to hug her extra tight in memory of your mother. Loss, especially of someone so close and pivotal in your life, is so incredibly hard, and the holidays often amplify that. Your mother’s spirit lives on through you though, and I’m sure her warmth will still be felt as you celebrate with the rest of your family in her honor. My prayers are with you and your family. May God bless you and provide you with comfort, strength, happiness and peace during this season and always. **gentle hugs** 🙏🏻💕
Even better than that... The son was thinking of his Dad and making him happy on Christmas instead of himself. Kids don't understand Dollar stores. All he knew was that his Dad loved Mountain Dew.
That little boy giving the mountain dew was so sweet!!! I was his age when I started giving gifts and I love that they fed into his excitement. Giving is honestly my favorite thing to do and I hope he grows up the same!
I'm the oldest of 5 kids. When we were young our parents would take us to the Dollar store and we'd each buy something for each sibling and we loved it. As an adult, my husband teases me because I love gift shopping and usually start about 5 months in advance. I have to admit having nieces/a nephew now and watching them open the gifts I buy for them is the best (kids are just way more excited and espressive).
My son was @11 yrs old and got a horrible Xmas gift from an aunt. I told him it was the thought that counts. His response- “OK…well i thought about doing my chores, but i didn’t. Is it really the thought that counts?” He WINS!
@@annied1827 it was a while ago…can’t remember the gift, but it was not age appropriate. It was like age 2-6 type gift. Not something he would ever play or use.
But he got a gift though! You didn't get the chores done! It would be more like doing a half fast job at the chores then saying it was the thought that counts.
I don't think your son's logic was actually right though. He received a gift, which would be different than her thinking about getting him something and then there is nothing under the tree. What happened to him would be more akin with someone intending to do the windows for someone and using multipurpose spray that left streaks instead of actual Windex. Like, you can only be so mad because they put in time and effort, but it's the wrong product.
😂 this just unlocked a core memory for me. As a toddler I used to pick a bedtime book, wrap it in my blankie and give it to someone at the Xmas eve family gatherings to read to me. You either read the book and I'd finally go to bed, or you could deal with me much longer than necessary 😂.
honestly i love the miniature perfumes. they would make good stocking fillers! luxury perfumes are expensive... i often order a tiny bottle anyway to test and see if i want to invest in a bigger one!
There's a retailer where I live that sells a nicely-boxed selection of 8 perfumes in sample sizes, with a coupon for a full-size bottle of whichever one is the recipient's favourite. They do two versions, one with men's fragrances and one with women's. It's a brilliant idea, imo.
A few years ago my mams foster kid, who is muslim, knew no english and had been with her for 5 months, gave her a xmas card. My mam cried as this 11yr old had written her a card all by himself (with help from his social worker with the words) and my mam said that even though it was just a card she couldnt have been more proud and the kids face lit up. Obviously we saw the card and he did do so well considering. He looked so embaressed but he couldnt stop smiling.
Gifts from the heart are so sweet. that little kid getting his dad a bottle of mountain dew reminds me of my own son getting my mom a can of campbell's soup for Christmas. He was newly 4 years old. Ya'll can laugh at gifts like that but when my mom opened it she asked him WHY he got it. And he said that every time he went to visit her she fed him grilled cheese and tomato soup and he loves her.
That moment when Charlotte reads “tablet” as toilet and doesn’t notice anything suspicious in the phrase “there’s a toilet in the last box”. Small toilet 😂
When i was a kid, i got my Grandmother a box of Strawberry Shortcake (the doll) body powder. It was pink, came with a big pink pouff, and smelled of strawberries. Best of all it had Strawberry Shortcake on the lid lol. It cost me $1.99 at Kmart and i was so excited to give it to her on Christmas morning. That blessed woman made a huge deal over that silly box of powder and actually used it until it was gone! I still remember how happy i was that she seemed to like it so much lol.
When my brother and I were teenagers he was annoyed that my tampons and pad boxes were in the bathroom (where else should they be?) So he was really into collecting tank models so got Christmas one year I taped pads and tampons together to make a tank and gave it to him for Christmas. Let’s just say it was the best Christmas ever and he stopped complaining about it so much.
these people who don't want to see pads/tampons/blood ... and then maybe they watch any sort of shit online ... I just don't get it - hats off to you though!
As a momma who got her 10 year old daughter a brand new phone for Christmas and she dropped it and it shattered... my heart broke for that girl.... NEVER did I shame or yell at my daughter for a simple accident. Poor girl was so excited she couldn't help herself and yelling at her after the fact didn't help how stupid and embarrassed she felt. Oh and please don't say well you must have tons of money to replace that kind of stuff I do not... I'm a single mom on Disabilty... material things are not worth emotional damage to me.
It's not about masses of presents or big ones - it's about making someone smile. The Mountain Dew kid probably spent his pocket money, and the colouring book kid was ecstatic for his colouring book. Go for the heart, not the wallet.
Christmas of 1982 was crazy for my brother and I. We knew it had been a real tight year for mom and dad. I was 14, bro was 10 so we knew Santa was mom and dad. None of our relatives celebrate Christmas as they are all Jehovahs Witnesses, so we both knew the gifts would be sparse. Sure enough, there was 2 gifts for each of us under the tree. We opened gifts and ate Christmas breakfast. We were living in central Germany then. It had snowed about 18" on Christmas Eve and when the sun came up it was a brilliant blue sky, the snow was still pure white, even on the street there were just a few tread paths. Mom was like, "why don't you two go out on the porch and look at how beautiful it is outside". We did, literally, exactly as she told us to do and we were getting giddy knowing how much fun we were going to have playing football in all of that snow, later. After about 3 minutes mom comes out with a broom, her face was a meld of laughter and annoyance and asked us to sweep the balcony off AND it was only then that we saw the two sleds covered in gifts. It was only then, that I completely understood the idea of Santa Claus... Best Christmas ever!!!
this is the sweetest anecdote ever!! your parents truly knew how to keep the yuletide magic alive 🥰 i’m so glad you got to have such a lovely childhood memory 💜
@@astralloser1177 I left out the walk the four of took the night before in the town that our off-base housing was in. The streets were 98% empty, the snow was cascading down, all of the store displays were lit up and all of the Christmas lights were glittering through the snow covered trees. It IS my childhood Christmas memory and as crazy as it sounds, that Air Base (dad was stationed there twice for 8 years total) is my adopted childhood home.
@@Wolverines77 you have such a way with words, i absolutely felt transported! when your memoirs come out, you have to send me a link 🤭 also, i just realised you have a super festive name too!
@@astralloser1177 OMG!!! First and foremost, thank you for the kind words. I finally got the full story out of my mom about how I got that name combo. Dad was stationed in West Germany from 62-6 when he was in the Army (before I was born). He was always picked by his First Sergeant to play Santa Clause each Christmas at the local German orphanage and thought he would pass on his Christmas spirit to his first born son. The funny part (looking back it is funny) is I that I was stationed at MCRD Parris Island for my recruit training Christmas of '86 and my Senior Drill Instructor out in the "Fat Body Platoon" decided since all I could do while rehabbing from almost losing my left foot was sit around reading my manuals and limp over to the Battalion Aid Station twice-a-day for treatments was to sing a Christmas carol each night before "lights out". As well as I do with the written word, my speaking and singing voice is BAD and I have a hard time speaking publicly. I do not know if it was his way to try and break that blockage or if he was just having his own fun. P.S. The "Fat Body Platoon" was mainly made up of recruits who could not pass their PFT's but also included those who failed their initial Swim Qualification's, rehabbing injuries, etc.
@@Wolverines77 that is 100% a backstory for a character in a fantastic christmas film! thank you so much for sharing! i’d like to think your Drill Instructor was just trying to help you build your confidence, but i think we all know that anyone with authority in any branch of the military has a little sliver of a sadistic side… i love that your dad bestowed you with something to help retain some christmas spirit! i hope you’ve decided to keep on the lovely tradition, in some way or another, whether that be festive names or thoughtful gifts 🤭 i also really hope you managed to recover from your injury! this conversation has seriously made my festive season! i was just starting to get all grinchy, and you’ve cheered me right up! i appreciate your sharing 💜🫡
4:11 Love how the kid phrases his question so it doesn't seem like he's aware, while he's trying to manipulate Mom into saying it's his. "Is that a kid lawn mower?" You know what it is, and you're going to low-key passive/aggressive pester your parents for days. LOL
My mom shops all year for Christmas. It's not that she buys a lot of gifts, but all year shopping is just her keeping an eye out for things that a person may like or knows they want. She also avoids holidays season stress shopping. A lot of gifts she gets are by chance while browsing. Some shopping she does do online but it's mostly still going out to the store. She's always on the hunt for a sale or coupon.
When I was a kid under our tree was full of presents. I have siblings so we each had a few but it filled the area under the tree. I had 1 child and under the tree looked so bare. I cried because I was a bad mom I couldn't afford Christmas. My child wouldn't have a great Christmas memories like me. I called my mom to thank her so much. And I realized how much she had to struggle to give us those Christmases. I asked how a single mother did it, I couldn't do it for 1. She reminded me I only have 1 child so it looks like less. She told it was all year she watched for gifts at yard sales, goodwill, clarence items and mostly family and friends. They would help each other with their talents like painting, building, sewing, drawing, design what ever they did to make it together. Looking back they made some really great things that mean so much more to me an I still have. We were very lucky and blessed.
I love a dad who just gets excited because his kid is excited that he picked the present on his own. Also, my dad loves silly gifts. He can buy his own stuff, so when we get him things like a beginner gem tumbler (he's a geologist) he thinks it's the best.
Okay, worst gift I ever got and the petty revenge I did. When I was 19 my step-mil got me anti-wrinkle cream, telling me it was time I started using it... I regifted it to her the next year, telling her 'you talked so much about it I figured this was your brand'.
I have twin sisters and for a birthday, i've made the wrapps and immeditely forgot what whas for whom... On boxing day, I've give it to them and told them exhange it with the other if it wasn't the good one XD
2:16 my mom was working as a maid for my aunt, and my aunt got her a new mop for Christmas. My mom looked so confused and hurt, until my aunt said, "that's what mom said you wanted!" and my grandma laughed because she wanted that for our house (my mom, grandma, brother and i lived in the same house). I just remember the awkwardness everyone felt when my mom was like, "is this for me to clean your floors better?" and the horror on my aunts face when she realized what the gift had implied.
As s person who lives in the same town as her entire surviving family and hasn't celebrated a single holiday (including my own birthday) with even a call or text from anyone (including my two sisters) for almost a decade... Thank you, Charlotte for this video.. you gave me a reason to smile.
happy Christmas! 🎄 happy birthday🎉🎂 happy Easter🕊️🥚 happy halloween👻🎃 happy thanksgiving🦃 happy carnival 🎭 and best wishes for all the holidays to come you will see that the bad times will pass, make yourself strong 🫂 I hope you many beautiful things from Italy 🇮🇹
I'd like to add to everyone else Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday from the state of New Mexico. Now you have friends from all over the world. I hope these comments warmed your heart and put a smile on your face
That FedEx one is exactly why special instructions exist. If you want the delivery person to take extra care with your package, specify (i.e. please leave in "x" location where it's not easily spotted or identified). Otherwise it's not their responsibility. I think going "really FedEx?" is an entitled attitude like the delivery driver was on a mission to destroy your child's Christmas joy. Lol.
So glad my child was not the only one! My child never reacted to Christmas. One year she opened 3 presents and then stopped and said I'll open them tomorrow. She was 6!
I did the same thing but I was between 8-10 and decided “I’ll open them later” and slept until around 10 or noon because my mom woke me up to see why I wasn’t opening my gifts yet like I usually would do and they got the hint as I woke up and answered with “will do it later, I’m too tired” mom ended up finding out that I tried to stay up all night because “I wanted to give Santa a hug and thank him for the presents” but passed out asleep before my parents brought out the presents. My parents thought my plan was wholesome but realized that my believing in Santa Claus would be ruined (around 13-15 I stopped believing because my parents forgot to put ‘From: Santa’ instead they put ‘From: Mom and Dad’ 😅, I took that whole day after opening my presents to interrogate them 😂)
Had a truly tragic event happen today, and as soon as I got a moment to myself to really try and deal with it, I needed something familiar and comforting to keep me from losing my mind. So I came here. Definitely not the mood I'm usually watching your videos in, but still, I'm glad you're here. Thank you for being you. I hope your holidays this year are beyond wonderful ❤
Those weren't all unfortunate Christmas fails. Some were appreciated presents. Even the kid who didn't look at the ball pit, he was so happy with his big coloring book, he'll play with the ball pit another day.
That was so funny!! I willing to bet he will enjoy that coloring book a lot longer than that ball pit. He will likely go in it one time, get bored and the parents will be cleaning up all the balls he threw out.
The little boy ignoring the ball pit for the colouring book made me laugh as it reminded me of when I got my son when he was little a very expensive sit on tractor and trailer and he had many many hours of fun playing with the box it came in !! 🤣🤣
@@autumn1734 oh yes both my kids lived boxes I used to get big boxes from the washing machine sellers and they used to make castles in the garden, they got so excited when we got something which came in a huge box lol
IMO, this is just setting up for a kid to get up stupid early. Let them sleep. They'll get up. In future years these parents will be complaining when the kid gets up at 4 am and wonder why.
Okay but I hate when people give animals as gifts without knowing that the recipients genuinely want it, can afford its care for its entire lifetime, and have the time, energy, and love to give to the animal. So many animals end up in shelters after holidays like Christmas or Easter (lots of rabbits get adopted and then put into shelters). I wish people would stick to non-living gifts so these animals can have a better start to life.
LOVE the Northen Lights in the back! I have to wake my kids up every year for Christmas. They are 7 and 9. But I love getting up early, making coffee and cinnamon rolls...I separate the presents into their 2 piles, start the fireplace...it fills my soul 🥰
@@papamaanbeerVideo yeah like who fcking does that? i received a cheaper phone and i was so careful opening it like i opened it on the bed so nothing will be damage if it fell.
@@sherylF5610 yeah the dad was too mean. Poor girl already has a broken phone on Christmas and now a yelling guilt trip to go with the cracked screen? She didn't throw it against the wall or anything... smh
My husband and I "unplugged the Christmas Machine" many years ago. No cards given or expected. No gifts given or expected. We have never been more stress free during this time of year. I DO love seeing the lights, hearing the carols, etc., but I am not the one catering to expectations of the "perfect gift". It is really quite liberating. I hightly encourage it.
We went to thriftmas many years ago, and it’s been the best. We’re always popping in and out of thrift stores so finding little cheap things we think people will like is an enjoyable thing rather than stressing over spending massive amounts of money
I still remember my favorite gag gifts for my siblings....one was for my older brother that was a little clicker noise maker that made the sounds of bubble wrap being popped...he played with it for weeks after the fact. The other was for my older sister that was a keychain with the same thing written on both sides of it, "I know how to keep a stupid person busy for hours, see reverse side." ...now i wish i was joking but my sister spent over 2 hours flipping the keychain over and over staring at it, after a bit over 2 hours she finally had the eureka moment you could see the realization daen on her what it was saying and she half laughed half yelled "THAT'S MEAN!" She was a good sport about it though and was laughing with everyone after the fact...i still find it funny that she spent over 2 hours flipping it...
Hahaha...my bestie and I had a petty gift exchange kind of competition every year. The rules were that it had to come from the Dollar Tree, and it had to be really crazy/ugly/etc....we had so much fun with some gifts you just never expected.
i had a business card like that keyring 🤣 i kept it for years, it tickled me so much! just waited for someone worthy of it, but i never met anyone i disliked enough/dim enough to give it 😅 sounds like your family are good sports though! i hope you got some fun gifts in return too! 😁
My favourite Christmas memory I was about seven. I didn't know it at the time, but we had been really struggling with money. Could barely afford food and pay the bills. So we couldn't afford a Christmas tree. My family and I came home and found a Christmas tree sitting outside our door! I was amazed when we ready the card and it had snow and glitter inside and said it was from Saint Nick. Santa had sent us a tree! My parents didn't expect it, we later found out it was Uncle who had sent it. It was very sweet and I'll always remember it.
My Aunt would buy everyone items from the dollar store, garage sales, rummage sales. She forgot all the kids ages, but she never forgot anyone. We all got a pair of socks and another gift. These were the highlight of our Christmas Day. She thought I collected salt and pepper shakers for years. One set was little pilgrims, and when you shake the pepper it would sneeze and the salt shaker would say “Bless you”. My 15 yr old got Bob the Builder VCR tapes. My brother got a snow globe with Frank Sinatra in it. It played “Idid it My Way” . It was always the most random things. She’s in a nursing home now, so Christmas will never be so much fun.
Haha that little girl was all done before it even started! I always wait for like a week after Christmas to give my young nieces and nephews their presents. I tried giving it to them on Christmas Eve with the whole fam but they’re SO OVERWHELMED at that point that they ignore even the coolest toys or gifts!
that little girl completely unimpressed with her mountain of christmas presents, handwritten thank you note from santa, and life in general, who just turns around and goes back to bed is my absolutely hero❤❤❤
My friend hid his then girlfriend’s Xmas present, a Tiffany bracelet inside of a pop tart box. Her whole family was in on the gag. Especially since it’s her family tradition. To gift one gag gift. The girlfriend had a toddler tantrum, threw away the gift in the dumpster. He and her family went trash diving to find the gift. Mind you she had 3 other non gag gift from him. My buddy was livid.
I’ll never forget my kids first Christmas. One of those big Jeeps for him to drive (took hours to put together), trampoline, ball pit, the big ass horse stuffed animals, mini garage set & all the it toys for that year. It didn’t occur to me that he’d only be 6 weeks old & had absolutely no idea what was happening. Nobody in my family told me what a terrible idea all these things were b/c they “didn’t want to dampen my joy”. Lol. You can literally see in the video of me carrying him down & the realization that I’m an idiot on my face.
When my Nephew was three my sister bought him a workbench for Christmas but had the box in the front room. The box had a picture of the toy on the front. When my nephew asked if it was for him, she told him it was just an empty box and if he was good Father Christmas would put the workbench inside on Christmas Eve. 😊. He fell for it, bless him.
My sister and I used to be just as excited about the box as the present itself. 😂 We'd make box forts for our stuffed animals (even paint them) and keep them for weeks.
All of my birthday and christmas gifts were bubble fluid and colouring books until I was about 9 years old because we were broke. It never once phased me! Kids love simple stuff!
😦 The pre-teen shaking the apple box was just plain painful! Also, feel that Dad’s instant realization my kid isn’t mature enough for something this expensive.
My SIL a couple of years ago was having a very hard time in life. She put on alot of weight and was on alot of medication to help her mentally. It really stuffed with her body. And for Christmas that same year her own father and sister both got her a scales each. I was so shocked with the first set and I could see her face about to cry and then she unwrapped the second set and instantly left. Shes doing so well for herself now, she's lost alot of weight. She works for my partner and I and a total change in life. On a funnier note, I get my kid to pick out his Santa gifts over the year, hide them and give them to him from Santa. He's 4 but he's too excited about the small 1$ chocolate bar to notice I put the toy or book or what ever into the trolly and into the car. Literally has sat next to the chocolate once but he was too busy keeping an eye on his chocolate so it doesn't get lost 😂
That is just cruel...does the family have a history of picking on the poor woman? I'm glad she's doing better now. Did the father and sister ever apologize?
That's a roller-coaster. That family is infuriating. Who needs enemies when they got relatives like that? I would have grabbed all the gifts I got for them and would have left, too. They don't deserve her. Or any presents for that matter. Thanks for also adding the sweet story to it. That's so adorable! ❤️
OMG, that's worse than my first aid kit story. (7 months pregnant, just started meds for antenatal depression, and he gets me a first aid kit for my birthday)
The kid going back to bed after being dragged out into a whole shpiel where her she is expected to have a big reaction was very much me as a child. I never liked to be put front and center and always felt very embarrassed and that my reactions weren't 'big enough' X'D Probably reading into this too much but that is immediately what my mind remembers.
When you order things like the kid lawnmower, you get an option to have it shipped in shipping cartons,I had all my Christmas gifts shipped that way, they do it for free.
My favorite Xmas fail was when my goodie-two-shoe brother sent my mother a Martha Stewart calendar and didn't realize it was a very x-rated parody Martha calendar. My mother called me not knowing how to tell him the mistake. I was soooo pleased to help by calling him for her!🤣
This time it's definitely the thought that counts. I'm so sad for her. Her husband takes it with lots of humor but she must be devastated that she was scammed like that.
The husband was so sweet about it though! That one reminds me of a Stephen He video: "Do you have Boba Fett helmet?" "No but we have the Boba FAIL helmet!" "Does it come with Boba Fett's weapon, the Gaffi Stick?" "No, but it comes with a Laffy Taffy stick!"
Our most memorable Christmas was about 7 years ago. Our boys were 2 and 4. We woke up early to wake the boys, and the youngest wasn't in bed. I looked all over the house and couldn't find him. One of their bedroom windows was unlocked (they were always playing with them), but there was no footprints in the fresh Christmas snow. The front door was locked, and he wasn't tall enough to reach the lock. We were frantically searching the house yelling for him, but he didn't answered. I was about ready to call the police and report him missing when my spouse hollered for me. We found him fast asleep under our bed. That was the scariest day of my life. Merry Christmas!
Thank you I've been searching for a comment like this I was angry that they got a puppy without making sure they even want one first, besides d9gs and puppies are expensive tonbut even adopting one from a rescue in the uk costs at least £200. And now what happens to the pup when it's not wanted, did the people who bought it keep it or did it end up in a shelter or released into the wild, or at worst taken to a vet and get put down like so many unwanted dogs at Christmas or after it's chewed the house up, didn't master potty training quick enough or didn't look cute anymore after it grew out of its puppy faze 😠 no I didn't find him taking one look and reject it at all funny
That dollar store kid brought me to tears..it's such a hard Christmas this year for so many.. I hope many of the kids in such households have been raised to be as excited about the little things as that little boy ❤️
I have never been a morning person. That little girl heading back to bed is a big mood lol. I can remember being dragged awake and manually shuffled into the loungeroom come christmas by my siblings one year, because my grandparents told them they couldn't open presents until we were all there together. There's this great photo of me, 8 or 9 years old, wearing only underpants, holding some toy for the camera with a look on my face that I can only describe as 'questionably conscious'. I'm pretty sure I flopped back to bed as soon as we were done lol.
The dad with the Mountain Dew: My dad is impossible to get gifts for. If there is something he wants, he buys it - always. Christmas and birthdays are always candy, Mountain Dew, and summer sausage. He truly enjoys it, too 😂
I remember one year my parents said we couldn't wake them up until 7, but my younger brother woke up my siblings and I at 6 because he was so excited. We all told him to go back to sleep because we couldn't open presents for another hour. We all fell asleep again and then none of us woke up until 9 😂 My parents thought it was hilarious they had to wake us up instead of the other way around
@@SpamEggSausage it can also be 'woke up my siblings and I', there are people who in fact use that, also it's kinda rude to correct something that isn't wrong. In this case, you and op are both correct and BOTH can be used.
I felt that mom with the toy lawn mower. When my mom moved in with her boyfriend last year, she didn't bring the keurig cause she wanted a new one. I ordered it, and lo and behold, it was in the original box and anyone passing by could see it. The only reason it didn't get stolen was cause my sister ended up getting home not long after. Really glad my mom didn't visit and see it 🤦♀️.
Dogs shouldn’t ever be given as Christmas presents, they’re a 10-15 year commitment. At the very least if you are going to surprise someone with one, make sure they actually want one and are ready for that commitment.
First of all, i can confirm that the cropped hoodie is one of my favorite hoodies because it is so soft. Also, people need to read descriptions when ordering. Over-sized boxes have warnings that they ship in original packaging, because most places don't have boxes that big. A place i used to work for only had 3 sizes of boxes. the size of a 3-wick candle, the size of a t-shirt, or the size of a boot box. I had to franken-box many a box together to send a small telescope.
Yeah the thing with the puppy is hilarious. "Sorry no one wants you, off to the kill shelter! Hee hee! What a goofy present, a live animal that now has nowhere to go."
My youngest son when he was little didn’t act all excited on Christmas morning. He was that one kid who just sat there like a zombie staring off into the void with his blanket wrapped around him while we toss gifts at him left and right. It’s not that he wasn’t great full he just doesn’t act excited about anything. Sleep was more important to him. Every Christmas pic with my kids he’s only one not smiling. 😂
When I was young I got my Dad a Christmas themed decorated can of spray deodorant. He reacted just like the guy who got the Mountain Dew. I was so proud.
I've sewn clothing since I was 12, and by the time I was 16, I was pretty good at it. I even had custom labels made for clothes I made as gifts. I made my dad several shirts from a Vogue Bill Blass designer pattern. He died in 1996, when I was 35. I found every one of the shirts that I made for him, all worn so often that they were soft and thin. Mom told me those were his favorite shirts. Now I sleep in them. It's like a substitute hug from my sweet dad. 🥹
If you want an easy Christmas morning, let your kids wake up on their own. They just aren’t awake yet and not only will you not get the reaction you were hoping for, you will have to work hard at coaxing them for pics etc. Just let them wake up on their own and be glad for a little sleep yourself after working on the presentation late into the night lol
This literally just happened to me. Sister and I live next door to my parents in the same lot and things get delivered to either house accidentally... Ordered a gift for my Mom and clicked " this is a gift" because it SAID that gifts "will be shipped in a plain box". Just in case it gets delivered next door I tell her "I ordered something for my sister for Christmas, hush hush, don't open, just give it if you see a box for me." They delivered it in all it's glory in a box with what it was clearly pictured on the side, right to her doorstep, and I get a call from her saying "Your gift for your sister is here, it looks super cool, you should come get it before she sees it!" 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀ *SOB*
I'm blessed, my 5 daughters and 4 grandaughters, the hubby's and all are with me every holiday and its always great. We bicker and laugh and its great!
During quarantine, I got more into cooking, so I actually enjoyed the spice rack, garlic press, new pots, pans and cooking utensils I got for Christmas 2020, and my January birthday in 2021. 😂 Probably the only time that is a good idea.
I'm glad you got to use and enjoy your gifts, but I disagree that's the only time it's a good idea. If the person _wants_ and _asks_ for the gift, then it's a good idea. It's only if the person isn't interested in them, or doesn't like to cook, and gets pots and pans, then it's a thoughtless or bad gift.
Thank you for the wonderful videos! I appreciate the quality you and your team put into each and every one. I am learning how to do better videos by watching yours and the things I notice every day helps me realize just how much work goes into these. Thank you soo much, Keep Being Awesome!
I need me some Charlotte. Through everything that's been going on in my life season after season storm after storm you've been here. And continue to help me in ways I can't even explain. You're videos are great and bring me comfort when I need it just watch em and eat some food and life is better thank you ❣️
I do feel bad for Addison getting yelled at on Christmas bc she couldn't contain her excitement. I get the feeling she's gonna internalize that, I know I would.
To be fair, Addison looks old enough to know to take care of electronics. Dad didn’t totally freak out, he raised his voice for a second because his daughter literally smashed hundreds of dollars before getting to use it
@@Duckduckobtusegoose I agree, it's not like it's an unknown fact that the phone is literally at the top of the box and can easily fall out if you just rip the box open.
@@Duckduckobtusegoose agree, I found it hard to have sympathy for her. seemed like she didn't respect the value of the gift by continuing to freak out.

Love this!!! And I love you!! Christmas is a hard time of year for me since I lost my mum 11 years ago and alot of my family is really far away. So having your videos to watch and cheer me up and make me laugh is an incredible joy thank you ☺️
Mine and my boyfriends family have all decided to not do Christmas presents since the family is so big and none of us really have the money. So I'm just buying for my little sister. But honestly my favorite part of Christmas is just hanging out and spending time together as a family 👪 💓 that's the best gift 🎁
@@bobbibuttons8730 I am so sorry for your loss. I totally understand things need er being the same without her, I feel the same way. But I try to think of it as showing her that I'm living the strong happy life she wanted for me. And then one day, when it is my time I will see and hold her again just as you wl with yours.
This one time I went to someone’s house for work, their entire family room was full of presents, on top of the tv, sofa, bookshelves, under the tree and I saw some above the refrigerator. I have never seen so much presents wrapped up in one house. I didn’t grow up receiving gifts just giving so it was insane
"Have you seen EVERY single video of mine, EVER?!" - Dearest Charlotte - Yup. If not ALL of them, then pretty damn close. I would even skip past the videos on IO that you weren't on just to wait for one with you in it 😆💜
Every year when we lived in Pennsylvania--my sis and I would look thru the open vent in the second floor bedroom we had to see what Santa left---we had good hauls every single year! The girl in the first video that went back to her room reminded me of my kids that would try to sleep in on Christmas/Easter!!!
I got myself a Playstation 5. First gift I've gotten for myself since my son was born, he just turned 19. He still has a decent Christmas, of course, but the things he wanted weren't as expensive this year, so it left me some room. He's a good kid, and Christmas is the only time of year that we ever spend out. I'm so excited. I didn't wait until Christmas for myself, but every day feels like Christmas knowing I can play the games I've been waiting a long time to play. Two now, the rest later when I can afford them. So what if I'm tired from work, I'll get am hour in, lol. Merry Christmas everyone!
The kid giving his dad the mnt dew was too precious. He was so excited. So sweet!
Smart kid; he got his dad something he knew he'd like.
I was thinking the kid probably bought it with his own money too or something. It was so sweet!!
Ive asked for 1) all-dressed chips 2) kalamata olives 3)generically exotic food so this is a kid after my own heart
I love to cook its one of my love languages so food focus makes sense
Yes that was so sweet. He knew his dad liked Mt. Dew.
I would cry tears on joy if my future child gave me mnt dew or any of my favorite sodas for Christmas😭
The dad doing the excitement for the mountain dew was the best part for me for sure! He knew whats up and he made his kid so happy! :)
Those are also the types of moments you both look back fondly over. When that kid is 30 he and his dad will laugh about it every Christmas. Guaranteed.
Made me choke up. What an excellent dad. ❤❤

Lovely!!
my mom did this when i was like 4, she brought me to the stuffed animal aisle at walmart and had me pick out the best stuffed animal i could find for my 2yo cousin (lifelong best friend, even now at 24 and 22). i chose a stuffed lion, named it Cubby, and slept with it every night so it would be full of love and warmth and "broken in" for her.
THATS SO PRECIOUS OMG
My mom was always so over the top appreciative over any little thing. One year I wrapped up this disgusting, super stinky pair of skechers...she opened it up, you could see the little stink waves emanating from the shoes..the wondrous look on her face was priceless! She was thanking us so sincerely, and we were all just dying! It took her a few minutes before she fully realized we were pokin fun of her. This will be our first Christmas without her...enjoy your time with your family, yall. Every. Single. Moment. Is. Special.
Oh man, this actually made me cry.
edit: typo
What had your mother done for you to play that prank on her? Did you ever regret doing that to her? If she was such a great mother to you, and you pull a rotten trick like that, you should be ashamed, and she didn't deserve to have such a rotten child, and you probably didn't deserve to have her as your mother. You are an evil, rotten kid! May karma come to you with payback!
First Christmas without my step dad, who was more of a dad then my real dad. It's off to an awkward start.
Just lost my mom a couple months ago, I understand your pain❤❤
I almost teared up w the kid giving his dad a Mountain dew. It was so sweet, he looks adorably excited.
Mountain Dew wasn't a fail; that was heartwarming and adorable.
Even better than that... The son was thinking of his Dad and making him happy on Christmas instead of himself. Kids don't understand Dollar stores. All he knew was that his Dad loved Mountain Dew.
@@Lindsay-nx5sv exactly! Parents doing a good job, there.

The true meaning of Christmas right there!
That poor wife from the last one. She put so much effort into getting him a gift she thought he'd love. I hope she managed to laugh as much as he did
I suspect it came from Wish.
I really wanted to see him try it on 😂

Honestly people are naive lol. I bet that she paid peanuts for this thing (but still too much). A "real" helmet like that would be hella expensive
@@melancolielupine2023 A simple google search would have told her the real deal. You're not going to get a thousand dollars helmet for $29.95.
The kid that was so overjoyed with giving Dad a Mountain Dew is the true meaning of Christmas!
My son was @11 yrs old and got a horrible Xmas gift from an aunt. I told him it was the thought that counts. His response- “OK…well i thought about doing my chores, but i didn’t. Is it really the thought that counts?” He WINS!
What did he get ?? Also love his comeback 🤣🤣
Very good!
You either read the book and I'd finally go to bed, or you could deal with me much longer than necessary 😂.
the gift was peace and quiet obviously LOL
honestly i love the miniature perfumes. they would make good stocking fillers! luxury perfumes are expensive... i often order a tiny bottle anyway to test and see if i want to invest in a bigger one!
And to a person who doesn't go out much
They are also easy to keep in your purse.
Reading this made my brain think of Scent Bird ads XD
There's a retailer where I live that sells a nicely-boxed selection of 8 perfumes in sample sizes, with a coupon for a full-size bottle of whichever one is the recipient's favourite. They do two versions, one with men's fragrances and one with women's.
It's a brilliant idea, imo.
Absolutely! My work is scent free and so is some of the stuff I do on the weekends. I only ever use samples lol
Yes.........😅
When i was a kid, i got my Grandmother a box of Strawberry Shortcake (the doll) body powder. It was pink, came with a big pink pouff, and smelled of strawberries. Best of all it had Strawberry Shortcake on the lid lol. It cost me $1.99 at Kmart and i was so excited to give it to her on Christmas morning. That blessed woman made a huge deal over that silly box of powder and actually used it until it was gone! I still remember how happy i was that she seemed to like it so much lol.
Sounds lovely to be honest
Oh, I'd so use that and enjoy the smell, lol. 🙂
The tiny kid going back to bed is so true for when they're that little 😂 As excited as I was for my kid's first few Christmases, I let her sleep lol
We have a rule that the last person out of bed gets to open their gift first. We get up at 10 and have to get the kids out of bed.
When my brother and I were teenagers he was annoyed that my tampons and pad boxes were in the bathroom (where else should they be?)
So he was really into collecting tank models so got Christmas one year I taped pads and tampons together to make a tank and gave it to him for Christmas.
Let’s just say it was the best Christmas ever and he stopped complaining about it so much.
That's hilarious but also a good idea
Go petty I love it.
Interestingly enough my brothers, all younger than me, never once complained about my menstrual products
My sister wrapped a couple of our gifts in tampon boxes a few years back. So funny and she repurposed them.

That poor girl.
She isn’t the first one to do that. Poor thing. And telling her to be careful after the fact is something that parents do that I hate!
Okay but have y’all never opened a phone box before, I could see that was going to go wrong immediately💀
@@Wolverines77 that is 100% a backstory for a character in a fantastic christmas film! thank you so much for sharing! i’d like to think your Drill Instructor was just trying to help you build your confidence, but i think we all know that anyone with authority in any branch of the military has a little sliver of a sadistic side…

4:11 Love how the kid phrases his question so it doesn't seem like he's aware, while he's trying to manipulate Mom into saying it's his. "Is that a kid lawn mower?" You know what it is, and you're going to low-key passive/aggressive pester your parents for days. LOL
Lol exactly “why is it for my dad” “why does he need another one” we’ve all done the asking the question we know the answer to as kids lol
That kid is a smart one, LOL.
OMG that little girl that just wants to go back to sleep is everything!
Okay, worst gift I ever got and the petty revenge I did. When I was 19 my step-mil got me anti-wrinkle cream, telling me it was time I started using it... I regifted it to her the next year, telling her 'you talked so much about it I figured this was your brand'.
HA!
My mom mixed up the tags on my son and daughter's Christmas presents. Imagine my son's joy when he received bras for Christmas. Great memories!
Lol!!! My Mom did something similar when we were younger. She gave us each our own wrapping paper and then forgot who it belonged to.
HAHAHHAHAHA a mansserie
I have twin sisters and for a birthday, i've made the wrapps and immeditely forgot what whas for whom... On boxing day, I've give it to them and told them exhange it with the other if it wasn't the good one XD
Imagine being gifted bras for CHRISTMAS...I'd cry.
@@klee_.fangirl and if they fit perfect? My word

She was 6!
It's overwhelming. Save your money.
omg 🤣 that's a whole mood ahahah
Maybe she wanted to make the fun last as long as possible?
Ive actually done this before, but i have aspergers so that might be part of it
Maybe the same is true on your end

@@WeAllLiveInTheTwilightZone I don't know. I loved going to the ball pit at McDonald's as a kid. I think I would have used that toy regularly.
The little boy ignoring the ball pit for the colouring book made me laugh as it reminded me of when I got my son when he was little a very expensive sit on tractor and trailer and he had many many hours of fun playing with the box it came in !! 🤣🤣
Ahh yes it's always the boxes🤣😆

The little girl only wanting her sleep on Christmas is so me 😭
I thought she was wanting to go to the bathroom at first.
I was that like her , disappointed my parents every year
She's just not a morning person. Relatable AF. 😂
I think as kids my family didn’t get out of bed before 8:30 Christmas morning.
IMO, this is just setting up for a kid to get up stupid early. Let them sleep. They'll get up. In future years these parents will be complaining when the kid gets up at 4 am and wonder why.
Oh my gosh! The dad who got the Mountain Dew was so wholesome! ♥️
Charlotte's maniacal laughing at the kid breaking her iPhone 🤣 I love the viciousness
im upset every time i see her opening the box
Nothing like getting yelled at on Christmas morning

My husband and I "unplugged the Christmas Machine" many years ago. No cards given or expected. No gifts given or expected. We have never been more stress free during this time of year. I DO love seeing the lights, hearing the carols, etc., but I am not the one catering to expectations of the "perfect gift". It is really quite liberating. I hightly encourage it.
We went to thriftmas many years ago, and it’s been the best. We’re always popping in and out of thrift stores so finding little cheap things we think people will like is an enjoyable thing rather than stressing over spending massive amounts of money
@@ThunderStruck15 omg "thriftmas"! Amazing. I swear by second hand shops. I think I could win the lottery and still prefer thrift stores.
How do you feel being the smartest one at home?
Hahaha...my bestie and I had a petty gift exchange kind of competition every year. The rules were that it had to come from the Dollar Tree, and it had to be really crazy/ugly/etc....we had so much fun with some gifts you just never expected.
Lol
i had a business card like that keyring 🤣 i kept it for years, it tickled me so much! just waited for someone worthy of it, but i never met anyone i disliked enough/dim enough to give it 😅 sounds like your family are good sports though! i hope you got some fun gifts in return too!

The Dill Dough was hilarious, my first married Christmas the only gift I received was a collapsable shovel for my car ! He’s an ex now !

Haha that little girl was all done before it even started! I always wait for like a week after Christmas to give my young nieces and nephews their presents. I tried giving it to them on Christmas Eve with the whole fam but they’re SO OVERWHELMED at that point that they ignore even the coolest toys or gifts!
The kid getting the dad mountain dew, that is so sweet. 😄
that little girl completely unimpressed with her mountain of christmas presents, handwritten thank you note from santa, and life in general, who just turns around and goes back to bed is my absolutely hero❤❤❤
The fool! Anyone with a family who is into gag presents ought to know you ALWAYS look INSIDE the box BEFORE you throw the tantrum! Lol
I noticed you said "then girlfriend," I'm guessing she is not in the picture anymore.

Aww bless well they would nit go to waste and he'd grow into them before you know it 😃
When my Nephew was three my sister bought him a workbench for Christmas but had the box in the front room.
Ever seen the movie 'Dave makes a Maze'? You'd identify plus it's great fun
@@ronaldoago-go5907 I haven't! I'll definitely have to check it out! 😊
Lol I got my son when he was little a very expensive sit on tractor and trailer he had many many happy hours playing with the box it came in 🤣
All of my birthday and christmas gifts were bubble fluid and colouring books until I was about 9 years old because we were broke.
Do they think she does not realize that her weight had changed? Geeeesh.
Why the scale?
They could have her a gym membership for a year or 10 session of therapy . That would be better
I was soooo pleased to help by calling him for her!🤣
I got a feeling the last woman bought her husband's gift from Wish 🤣🤣🤣
she definitely got scammed!
This time it's definitely the thought that counts. I'm so sad for her.
Her husband takes it with lots of humor but she must be devastated that she was scammed like that.
The smell gave it away lol
The husband was so sweet about it though!
That one reminds me of a Stephen He video:
"Do you have Boba Fett helmet?"
"No but we have the Boba FAIL helmet!"
"Does it come with Boba Fett's weapon, the Gaffi Stick?"
"No, but it comes with a Laffy Taffy stick!"
A puppy is NOT a surprise present-a puppy is a plan and commitment
The dad with the Mountain Dew:
My dad is impossible to get gifts for.

I’m the same way on Christmas morning. I can’t wait to see everyone’s faces when they open their presents.
The little girl who just goes back to bed … priceless 😂
Yeah the thing with the puppy is hilarious. "Sorry no one wants you, off to the kill shelter! Hee hee! What a goofy present, a live animal that now has nowhere to go."
Thank you for your content Charlotte. You really have helped with my mental health. Been a fan for ages. Keep it up x
The puppy broke my heart. Don't give pets as surprise gifts !! She better take care of that pup now 😤
Poor Addison. Those boxes are hard to open.
6:00
I like how both me and charlotte read that as “toilet” in the last box 😂
The kid who gave his dad Mountain Dew is so wholesome🥲 children are so pure and sweet!!!
The thought counts but lazy husbands don't get a pass!!!!! 😂😂😂
I loved how the daddy with the mountain dew affirmed his son. No fail at all.
The toddler who just went back to bed takes the cake, my son still looks at me like I'm crazy for wanting a nap
