If you are not that familiar with them you should start with their second album the Bends and listen to them in order so you can see their Beatle-like progression and wait until you listen to their 4th album Kid A considered the biggest left turn in rock-pop history. One thing I would add is to listen the albums in full with good headphones their music is like Floyd in that it is purposeful as a whole as opposed to listening to single tracks.

Any song from their last 5 albums. People don't realise just how interesting Radioheads music is.

This song is a high point of their live shows. The crowds tend to join in on the backing vocals after the "turn me onto phantoms" line.
I love that moment in the song as well (I find it emotionally resonant and cathartic), but something I find amazing is the simple element of the main melody line: It's two guitarists playing fairly simple parts, but because they are playing with different tempos (one is doing triplets, the other is doing eighth notes), they interweave in this way that feels fluid, like waves bouncing around. It's an effect enhanced by the way the bass line moves around in the tempo, with a third guitar (played by the singer) playing a simple strum later on. I find it mesmerizing, especially as it builds in intensity.
Another fun fact: when the band kicks into the coda/outro segment, there's a guitar effect that sounds like a cascading series of guitar notes. (Kicks off at 5:25 shortly after you resume the song). It's a complicated guitar effect, using a pedal that loops several segments and plays them all backwards, and they can do it live (which is absolutely bonkers). During that drum break in the middle, the lead guitarist has his guitar switched off of the amp circuit, and he plays a series of guitar licks, recording them all in his pedal. Then he triggers them all at once, and they repeat and loop backwards. The notes sound odd if you listen closely, because a guitar note is usually a sharp strike that fades out, but those notes kind of fade into a sharp strike (how you can tell it's played backwards). This band is absolutely full of all sorts of wile and amazing guitar effects using a wide variety of gear that they can replicate live. Probably the only major artist out there that exceeds them in terms of being inventive with the guitar is Tom Morello.

Definitely check out one of their videos from their "From the Basement" series. They are official releases of them performing live in their basement studio. It's an excellent way to see them actually perform their music. Excellent sound quality and camera angles. It will give you a good perspective on them as a band.

Radiohead is known by many for "Creep" but they're actually possessing of one of the largest most devoted fan and critic baes on the planet and known by millions as the Beatles of the last 30 years - first ballot Rock and Roll Hall of Famers with 5 albums on Rolling Stone 500 greatest albums, 7 out of their 9 albums were nominated or won Best Alt Rock Grammy (only pointing this out to add context to how huge they are beyond Creep). They don't put out traditional radio singles so pretty easy to miss them altogether but they are picking up steam in the music reaction world finally. Now, like anything those 3 accolades are debatable as to how much they mean, as it is up to the listener if they dig a sound. Having followed your channel, for what it is worth, this made me a SUB, but also I have 3 favorite artists - Stevie Ray Vaughan, Pink Floyd, but tops in my life are Radiohead. Take that for what you will. "In Rainbows" to most open minded musical ears is one of the most flawless beautiful albums ever made so despite having 2 other albums often cited as the best albums of all time, ever, this is by far the ONE to get into them and get their sound. They change sounds every album so started as a grunge era "Creep" band in 1993, but progressed ever since and have the exact same 5 member lineup a full 28 years later, a real rarity in popular music. I'd check out "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" or "Nude" next but truly you can go to any song on this album and not go wrong. The closing track "Videotape" takes multiple listens (and all of RH's work takes at least 2 or 3 to really really start to have it seep into your soul) but that is - not at all always - but often the case with some of the best music out there. But "In Rainbows" is such a masterpiece that it hits immediately. It also has one of the best live video called "In Rainbows: From the Basement" to watch after you do the studio album, which will really show how tight a band they are musically and feel more in touch with them personally. I'd even recommend (it safe on copy) watching a coupe live, such as "Reckoner" and "15 Steps" for your channel reaction. I truly hope you really enjoy this journey and give it a chance - as someone who I know has great taste and an open heart for music, I think you may find one of your new favorite bands in your life. Their 3rd album "OK Computer" from 1997 )this one here is from 2007) changed my entire musical landscape and was immediately my declaration for the greatest album I'd ever heard and I have a very wide genre and band list in the many hundreds I love to death. So much more to look forward to after you have the "In Rainbows" treat. This particular song is so cool as RH has 3 guitarists - I love the 3 guitar attack in rock/alt music, such a unique sound it allows - (though they all hop around and play multi-instruments) and the first part of this song adds each f 3 arpeggiated guitar parts to give that rich texture - listen again to hear how they are each different and play off each other.

What puts the icing on the In Rainbows cake for me was that they essentially gave it away for free when it came out... as if to say, "Yes, we know that this album is so beautifully amazing, and essential to the human experience, that the whole world should be able to listen to it, regardless of means".

I was a Creep/Karma Police - only 50-something guy until Covid. Thank you Apple Music. Painted a bathroom over 2 late nights with a pleasant buzz on while I discovered everything I’d missed. Now all in as I should’ve been all along. For an extra treat pull up the 2005 Esther Festival debut of this song. I have it on my YT playlist from a poster named WiseReilly. I’ll leave it at that - ✌🏼

Yeah. Very mesmeric and Radiohead are so much more than Creep so kudos to whomever told you to head somewhere else in their catalog. Hail To The Thief and Moon Shaped Pool are two more albums worth diving into. Hey, all of them are to be honest.

Ewww! No! Any similarities you hear in Coldplay and Kings of Leon is because they are being influenced by Radiohead. Radiohead has been releasing music since the late 80's! If you hear a "radiohead-esque" sound anywhere make no mistake; RADIOHEAD is where that influence originated!
