Here's the thing about roaches: They need a place that's dark and has *very* still air in order to breed. If they can't find that, they generally won't hang around. So if you've got good ventilation and few places that are undisturbed for long periods of time, it helps.
My bed has about 30 cm of space underneath it, which I use as storage space. However, I have only put boxes around the perimeter, and there's about 1m×50cm of space where the bed is pushed up to the corner of my room that I couldn't reach. It's just been collecting dust, basically. This all is to say: if I did have roaches (which I don't), there could be roaches boning right underneath me while I'm doing the same right above them? Did I understand that right?
@@fableagain I'm hardly an expert on the subject, but it does seem like a possibility. It's one reason why they like places like under rarely moved appliances or attics and crawl spaces. I recall seeing video of an attic in a test house which was deliberately set up to be infested, and they just set cheap little fans in places they'd confirmed to be breeding grounds. They cleared out in no time to find more hospitable places.
Roaches tend to nest in compressors of refrigerators. There is moisture from the motor, its pretty private there, the perfect breeding ground for roaches. The other place to keep an eye on would be under sink cabinets, and behind stoves. Roaches can be difficult, but if you keep an eye out for signs, its pretty noticeable if you have them. They leave body parts everywhere, and if I'm being honest, a dehumidifier and Tupperware would put me out of business.
@@HawkWorley I don't even have bug problems, but glass and plastic storage for all your loose food like flour, pasta, etc. is a great practice. Keeps everything organized and easier to access.

I’m from Florida and once when I was younger I was eating cereal and I felt a tickle on my leg and I ignored it for a sec but then I checked it and it was a big ass cockroach. So I jumped quickly onto my bed (cuz I was eating cereal on a desk in my room idk why) and screamed bloody murder. I remember as a kid waking up to roaches crawling around my neck in the middle of the night. This was in Texas, I didn't have a bed frame for the mattress and it would be when I would live with my dad for a few months. It got worse in the later years as the mattress would be replaced with an air mattress.

14:00 In regards to Julia's story: Growing up in the country, our cats would have just eaten the cockroach (that is if you could find one larger than a 1/4 of an inch). Seriously those cats hunted grasshoppers, mice, rats, birds, moles and even a rabbit once. Any time the neighbors horses or cattle got out and made their way to our front yard, the cats would jump onto the animals face likely to show dominance. Those cats we had were terrors to the rest of the wildlife.

there's something so magical about getting to the part of a stream you know gave the vod its name
I remember as a kid waking up to roaches crawling around my neck in the middle of the night. This was in Texas, I didn't have a bed frame for the mattress and it would be when I would live with my dad for a few months. It got worse in the later years as the mattress would be replaced with an air mattress.
The detective show that they was mentioning reminded me of Case Close (Detective Conan). Wherever the MC goes someone dies and somehow at the end the culprit confess

I would like to state, that in the Father Brown books he does have a habit of turning up in random places all over England and Europe and just happen to get mixed up in various crimes, not always murder. So the unbelievability is a purely tv series issue

Julia's roach story reminds me of how my dog came to greet me with a toy that was left in the yard overnight and he did that thing dogs do where they smoosh the toy into your leg and the toy spilled hundreds of tiny maggots on me and in some ways I've never recovered.

14:00 In regards to Julia's story: Growing up in the country, our cats would have just eaten the cockroach (that is if you could find one larger than a 1/4 of an inch). Seriously those cats hunted grasshoppers, mice, rats, birds, moles and even a rabbit once. Any time the neighbors horses or cattle got out and made their way to our front yard, the cats would jump onto the animals face likely to show dominance. Those cats we had were terrors to the rest of the wildlife.
