- This is a neat one that I didn't expect to see in the collection. I like the mounted pickers & am rather ecstatic with this one. They could have added some more pictures, but hey.... I'm content.

Oh how I would love to have a mounted picker, but it takes such wide rows! I'd like to find a pull behind IH picker but those are like finding a needle in a hay stack compared to the New Idea's.
That makes two of us. I don't currently have a tractor to spare to leave as a dedicated picker & I doubt it only takes a half hour to mount one by myself. Don't have the room, either & I wouldn't want it to sit out. There is a McCormick 220 planter here, so wide rows wouldn't be an issue. A New Idea would be a nice find also. The Super Pickers were popular around here when everyone still picked ear corn. Still there's an issue of storage. Which is a bummer as bagged ear corn sells well in this area for everyone that wants to feed birds & squirrels & then there's the deer hunters. It's a really good market.
Should just be 40 inch rows... I've heard of wider but never seen them. We ran on 40 inch rows til we quit row cropping, but then 40 inch rows were standard in cotton right up until the mid-late 80's and still persist even today, though there's a lot more guys doing 36 and even 30 inch rows than there used to be... course cotton farming is dying out anyway-- it's second only to rice as the most expensive crop you can grow, and the d@mn stuff is still only about 60 cents a pound on average... same price it was when I was a toddler back in '72... only 60 cents would buy you and the wife a 2 piece chicken and biscuit dinner back then! Sixty cents won't get you a cup of coffee anymore! Why we finally quit row crops.
