  • Tooltips are additional data details that display when you hover over one or more marks in the view. When you select one or more marks and hover, tooltips also include options to filter marks (exclude or keep only), display marks that have the same values, create groups, create sets, or display the underlying data and even have charts embedded in them that respond to the data points you move over known as Viz in tooltips. If you don't want users to be able to access tooltip commands, you can disable them.
    Talk on tooltips mentioned in the video. • Next-Level Viz in Tooltip

    Tim, another great video! You are the best, so humble and you always find a way to make me chuckle when watching. Sheet999999! (And by the way, kudos for calling it a sheet, not a tab, or a view, or a dashboard. Each of this objects has its place and a specific name and it make communication so much more efficient when people use the proper names! Maybe there’s a video on that subject in your future. “The real names of things…cards,shelves,panes,sheets, data sources,data connections, dashboards, workbooks, views, etc.”

    Hi Tim, i need your suggestion. I am certified in power Bi. Now I am learning tableau, I am referring your videos and very glad to have this video's to gain the knowledge. But please reffer a video which will get end to end concepts of tableau. If you make this it's very useful to all users. Great work Tim and thank you so much 👍

      Firstly I love that you like the content! Much appreciated. So much so you want more! even better. That would take many hours of work and be very long 20 hours plus+ ... As a Dad of 2 very very young kids, a full-time consultant and life just can't justify making that at the moment. Here's a question would you pay for something like that and what would you pay in your local currency. Also, there are quite a few videos on TH-cam already that claim to do this... what are they missing that you value from my channel?

    I have a graph on a dark background and I am using it as a tool tip. Shows perfectly fine on the other graph with the same dark background colour. Only prob, there is a think white border around the tool tip. Would like to remove this so it looks like it's floating. Any ideas?

    Hey Tim, could you do a video on tableau tooltip vizes on tables that include a grand total column?
    If you don't mess with set actions, the Viz will be the same for every grand total

    Hi Tim, great video! Question for you: how do I add a tooltip to a worksheet that has a single dimension value. I use that worksheet to trigger an action to apply multiple filters on a dashboard at once. Thanks!

    • @TableauTim
      @TableauTim  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Create a measure called “One” with the value 1.
      Place it on detail and set aggregation to avg. this gives you a measure on which you can generate the tooltip. Place it on the axis and drop your dimension onto canvas and the tooltip should show up as “1” from there do what you need to do

    Tim, Love the videos. I love the part where you filter the viz in tooltip to show england/ wales, etc. on hover. Can you make something similar occur across two datasets? So the map shows regions in the US (no region crosses state lines), and the tool tip shows a state with different regions (which also do not cross state lines) based on the hover?

    • @TableauTim
      @TableauTim  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend watching the video I suggested from Tableau conference. In there there’s a technique that uses set actions. You could also use Relationships I think but I’d need to test it. Potentially an avenue to explore.

    Is there any reason why you can't put the same sheet in a tooltip?? I want a zoomed in version of the same sheet in a tooltip. Seems silly to me you can put other sheets but not the same one in.

    Tinytip: when formatting fields (things between ) you just need to click inside the field in the tooltip and format it. Don’t need to select the full text of the field ;)

      I found this isn't consistent on a mac running M1 processors. there are quite a few bugs around selection in general hence I did it this way but if you're not on M1 then by all means go for it ! Even had a bug while hovering during the video.

    hi, please, i speak french and live in france, i do wannt to learn tableau, is there a french tableau training or version? i can understand a little bit cause the teacher speaks too fast, this is technical engligh. may you suggest me what to do? thank

      Tableau have some training in french but i think it's only through paid training. Have you tried the subtitles for the video? along with the audio? its not perfect but might help explain anything to go alongside the visuals.

      @@TableauTim thanks, i'll try to do my best to listen and watch thought subtitles. But it's going to take me much time to understand things as well as i'm not a native speaker. I think for basics lessons, i can learn them in french for a perfect understanding, then after , i can be able to catch you nice here cause.
