great vids! here's an idea: what if you had real life maps, with all the city names and arrows pointing movements of the army, then you can zoom into the AoE stuff. keep it up!
Thank you for covering the massacre of French POW's that occured in the aftermath. A lot of accounts miss that part out, but it really shows how determined the English were to NOT have to fight the reinforcing French ensemble, as well as how pragmatically ruthless Henry could be (by this time in the battle, it was believed he knew about the French rear reinforcements and their looting of baggage trains. He was understandably most concerned about the strategic deployment of vengeful French knights crashing into the rear of the army that might lead to a mass rout). One part that might be of interest; Henry's dismounted English knights were initially ordered to carry out the killings, but they refused (either for honour or for ransom purposes). So Henry V then gave the same order to the more lowly yeomen archers, only with the added caveat of executing any longbowmen that failed to carry out the King's orders. Just another reason the French loathed the Welsh and English Longbowmen during the Hundred Years War.
As French we lost a battle, but we didn’t lose the war ;) ! This battle has been well planned by English army and completely badly manage by our commander !
Nice video, it was fun to the history visualised with Age of Empires 2, have you played the Agincourt level? Just a note, from all accounts the English suffered very minor casualties with a few hundred or so casualties, with the death of the Duke of York being the most important man being slain. Whereas the French lost thousands of men of both nobles and commons with one source the Deeds of henry V, stating the French lost 3 dukes, 5 counts, 90 barons, 1500 knights and 4000-5000 men killed or wounded with two dukes captures, 3 counts, the marshal and several other noblemen. The prisoners also posed a threat because they were so many, of them a breakout by the French prisoners mid-battle could result in the English army being attacked on both sides.
Thank you very much for your comment Daniel, I'm glad you liked the video. No, I haven't played the Agincourt historical battle in AoE2. I agree with you about the information you provide about the battle of Agincourt. Regarding the number of casualties, I do not give that information in the video because I consider that it may be too many numbers for most people.
The effort you put into this is obvious, but it also really highlights how janky aoe2 formations, pathfinding and sound effects are. I don't notice it as much when playing, but watching it as a cinematic makes it so apparent it's a 20+ yr old game under the remastered graphics.
Must be hard being French and a war-history enthusiast at the same time. The battles where France is defeated is the most popular to talk about and the battles where France is victorious (Which are numerous) are almost forgotten.

I was about to write a comment about how this is the only sane mobile-gaming community i've ever come across... then i realized age of empires is not a mobile game... To someone who never heard of it tho, it sure looks like it, from a glance XD
There are a number of mobile ads out there that rip off Age of Empires. They either steal footage or just copy it. It's all pretty interesting tbh. AoE 2 is one of the greatest games of all time haha. Not even “it might be one of” - it is. The current version of the game is “Age of Empires 2: Definitve Edition, released in 2019. There’s a healthy pro scene, healthy Twitch scene, and tons of content on TH-cam covering the game. It ranks around #50 on the Steam Charts for active player count. Pretty sick. Annnd it still gets updates :) Its fanbase also spans the globe. The United States/Argentina/Brazil/Mexico/France/Germany/Spain/Norway/the UK/China, the list goes on. Interestingly, Age of Empires 1 [one] is like…the national game of Vietnam - kind of like StarCraft is/was for South Korea.
2 questions, the first, for the French knights, did you use knights or paladins? And how did you do so that the archers could beat the paladins or knights? in the game I would win these
For the French horsemen I used knights and paladins. As for the English archers, I gave them more attack in the game editor. In addition, the stakes in front of the archers also deal damage to French units.
Tell me please what do you mean by “horseman“ and man-at arms? Because man-at-arms is mounted unit trough middle ages (yeah, the way how AoE II portrait it is absolutely wrong). They sometimes fight afoot but man-at-arms is well armored, trained horseman. Knight is in fact man-at-arms (but not all man-at-arms are knights).
This could be historically inaccurate and I would never know! :P Wikipedia's Siege of Harfleur page says up to 5,000 died of dysentery and 1,300 were invalided home. whereas you say 2,000 died and 2,000 returned home.
