    This is a delight. That glorious sound and a driver who really respects and understands the vehicle, no "performing" for the audience, or showing off - experience shines.

    I used to love riding on these buses in Colchester back in the 70's when I was primary school age. I used to wonder how the driver changed gear without a clutch.The sound is unique and evokes great memorise too. I also used to wonder why the indicator control was so big and red! I was an odd child lol 😂

    Nice drive, sounds great !!! . When I was growing up we mainly had the direct air shift in the leopards and the Atlanteans, just before the government got rid of them, we started to get the Atlanteans with this type of shifter. When I was a kid I was more captivated in how the pneumatic type worked,, I always wanted one.. and now I rebuild them many many years later it's wonderful, to see they are still going, all the hard work that goes into them .

    I'm glad my RE isn't the only one without a working speedo...

      Had a swine of a job to get it working on mine - some electrical jiggery-pokery fixed it in the end but I suspect there are more REs in preservation without a working speedo than working ones!

    im no expert (!) but his driving and steering looked totally fine to me considering no power assist, and trying to get a very long bus round some quite tight bends there. Smooth driving and nice and easy on the gear box too. The only weird thing is should the left wiper be dragging over the central dividing strip on the windscreen? It can't do it much good.

      If you look below the gear selector early on from the start you'll see a black rimmed tachograph showing the speed, has to be fitted to public service vehicles.

      RE mk 1 flat front top left corner off drivers side window is curved like the mw,s pull lever hand brake not the little dash board mounted gas hand brake, it most be a very early RE bus green paint in the driver's cabin not the cream kind off formica and the shorter flat windscreen old still wipers, remember seeing these in the 60,s in Gloucester when our family went over to Gloucester from Stroud in the car. a very early RE bus but it,s still has that re sound, i lived in Stroud at the time i was only a small kid at the time, in Seroud we had the older mw buses so bid Gloucester but they had these early type off RE buses, i youst to refer the Gloucester RE,s as Gloucester buses because they were mainly in Gloucester

      What's wrong with his steering?

    • @evisresortatnggatiranaisla1673
      @evisresortatnggatiranaisla1673 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No power steering on those REs, with Alford and Alder front axles and low geared steering boxes to compensate
