Great video, Dan. We had a little snow on Tuesday, November 28th, of our second week of rifle season. Always hate to see deer camp end. When we left on December 2nd, I really didn't want to leave. I could live at deer camp. I know how frustrating it can be not to see much when hunting. You might see a doe or two, then nothing for a long time. You know they are there, you have pictures, but sometimes I think they know we are there. Those dang deer are smart. The 9 days we spent at camp; we hardly heard any shots at all. Over in VA they were in one of their muzzleloader seasons and I heard a shot back that way. We drove up to the lake and didn't see another camp. Don't sell your camp, that is a place to get away, that is what I miss about where we had the lot leased at the campground. We could go up anytime. You got that right, it isn't about the harvest, it is about the tradition and the memories that have been made there and will continue to be made. You're right eventually it will improve. If enough UP sportsman were to petition the legislature and the DNR, something will happen. Good luck to you in your later seasons. Next week is our muzzleloader season. You have an awesome deer camp there Dan. Sure wish we had something like that we could call our own back this way. Maybe one day, but for now we will pull our camp with us back to the mountain every year. Thanks for sharing. I am starting to catch up on some videos of my favorite TH-camrs. Juddie - J & J TOA
I had a wonderful time, saw a couple deer, heard a few wolves and saw a bunch of stars. The white mink coming into the blind was pretty cool, wished I knew what ran in front of me with the black bushy tail. Whatever it was it was super fast. Loved your camp and honestly didn't want to leave. I'd have hunted all the way through muzzleloader if I could. Thanks Dan! Hope to see you next year!
Thanks for sharing your U.P. deer camp, Dan. Really enjoy your videos, and yeah, it suks how the wolves are destroying the deer herd...its almost like that's the plan. Still time to fill a tag below the bridge! Good hunting!
Thanks for sharing. You are right on that something has to be done about the wolfs. they are winning in our area as well. Bur deer camp is always a fun time by all.
Keep the deer camp going!!! I know you will and I understand how frustrating it is to not see deer and hear the dogs howling knowing what they’re doing. Thanks for sharing your’23 deer camp!
You can count on that bud. As long as my health lets me nothing will stop me from going. More to camp than the harvest. Appreciate you watching and commenting
We had a tough season up here too. I went 5 straight days mid season with seeing a single deer. But we had a great time at camp already looking forward to next season
Yes plans are already in place for next season 🤣 it’s deer camp!! I’ve gone 2 weeks before when I didn’t see ya deer and sat dark to dark at 3 different stands so I know how you felt
Thanks for the video, Dan. There is nothing like hunting camp, and i always get a little sad leaving camp, but I tell myself i need to make money for next year. 🦃🦌
Great video. U r correct DNR Has it all.jack up up there.U had a lot of friends go up there hunting now it is only 1 Because it is a tradition. They never see any deer up there he is up by Municing. They go for a week then go back homevwere they see deer. The snow and dogs got those deer thin out big ti.e up there
I didn't even get asked about success going back across the bridge this year. Just figured they stopped asking due to the new mandatory reporting. Didn't see many deer in truck beds or trailers all the way to the Indiana line. Maybe a 1/2 dozen.
Wow they always ask me and any one else I know that crosses. Who knows I think they make up numbers anyway. Where about you hunt up there? I’m south of 28 seney area. Thanks for watching and commenting appreciate it
@@whitetailwarriorsdeercamp88 I've been hunting southwest of Munising near Chatham south of 94. It would be cool to stop by for a "pop" or two if I make it back up next year. Grew up in Michigan and now in Tennessee. Been heading 'home' the past 7 years cuz I missed that part of my roots...the UP and deer camp.
I used to hunt hard the entire 9 days of Wisconsin's gun season, a friend of mine told me I hunt too hard, That I should also take time to enjoy my vacation time as well, after thinking about it at the time, I no longer hunt that hard and will now take days off hunting by visiting other camps.
It’s just sad the our DNR is that useless 😒😒 the wolves are absolutely running rampant buddy mine has a deer camp in NewBerry and he had to come home he didn’t feel all that safe by himself and I already tagged out. Still thanks for sharing Dan! Keep up the great work can’t wait for the next video.
Hope you have some luck late season! We have some guys still looking to full doe tag’s late season on the lease! Thanks for sharing the adventure with Terry!
The only positive is they are in your area. I've seen it in Canada. Once they move out the deer will move back in. They get pushed around. But also in Canada we were given a Wolf Tag with our license and Wolves feared humans. It would take a day and gone. Another day or two the Deer moved back in. The problem you have just like we have here in Wisconsin is they have no fear. That is what is lacking
there are only 2 counties in the u.p. with decent deer hunting. look at the figures on dnr websight. delta and menominee. the u.p. hasn't been very good for years. they wanted to keep quiet about that because it would hurt business. now with youtube the word has got out. plus the well know deer biologist who writes for woods and water said a few years ago that the wintering deer yards are being destroyed. without them you will have nothing.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I told mine way before we were married also planned the kids around deer season and snowmobile season. Been married 27 yrs and I haven’t been home for thanksgiving in 40 yrs

Thanks appreciate it. Yes going out tomorrow afternoon 😎 thanks for watching and commenting
The weather was definitely strange this year. I figured hunting would be better since they didn't have to yard up so early compared to seasons past...

Yes ur spot on. Know matter i will keep going because it’s deer camp. We still enjoy it have fun Thanks for watching and commenting appreciate it
What is destroying the yards?
private ownership, they are cutting down the trees.@@jolkraeremeark6949
I know deer numbers are down around here to. Could be several reasons.
Well one of them is 80% wolfs. There destroying the deer. We get winter kill but nothing like the wolfs. Appreciate you watching and commenting
@@whitetailwarriorsdeercamp88they're top of the food chain in the forest,, no natural predators.
A bubby and his dad are the last two hunting their camp, up near Sidnaw. Neither of them saw a deer this season. Michigan dnr is useless.
Yes sir agree 100% they have no clue. Appreciate you watching and commenting
Wish my wife would let me hunt on Thanksgiving. Just another day in my book
Thanks for watching and commenting. I told mine way before we were married also planned the kids around deer season and snowmobile season. Been married 27 yrs and I haven’t been home for thanksgiving in 40 yrs
