Do you know if the HU58 will open a 1998 BMW M3? There doesn’t seem to be anything on the Lishi list that specifies that car and an HU92 won’t even fit in the keyway.
I’m trying to do a 2003 540i and it has the same key way/blank used but looks to be only 6 cut. Is there another Lishi I should use for that? Because this method isn’t lining up with spacing correctly.
@@BoredLockpicker so I’ve been looking into it. And right, they are. So it’s the right pick for sure. I have not tried the ignition. And it’s possible the lock is just not a good lock but it looks ok and of course I lubricated the lock. My biggest issue is centering the pick on the wafers on this one. On most lishis I’ve used I’ve had no problem sorting out what’s moving in the lock. But on this one it just doesn’t feel like the wafers are lining up with the numbers. And I assure you the key is all the way in. I wonder if you would be willing to do another video and really emphasize on these channels and finding them. This looked effortless for you like the others are for me. I’m sure there is a feel to it. What I’m gathering is that the margin for error is very wide as the wafers channels are so small. I must need practice… Edit: also I’m just now hearing your mention of 3 and 9 being missing in most locks. I’m sure that’s part of what’s throwing me off having not known that. And having not listened throughly the first time through
@@citylocksmith3553 on old old cars there’s never a guarantee the lock is any good. I’ve only ever used this Lishi a few times and I’ve never an issue with it but I’ve also gotten lucky that times i have used it the locks for we’re ok shape. I would try the ignition if I was you or pull the lock and try Lishi in a vise or strip it down. (Which I hate doing lol)
great video. ive been trying to figure out hu58 for a while now, recently i found your video and gave it another shot, im able to pick it very easily but i still cant decode even after following your video very closely. the door lock im practicing on doesn't have waffer 3/9, so when i cut the key, is it a 1 for 3 and 9? now i know for the ignition i would need to use instacode to figure out the cut but for now i just have this door lock im practicing with.
Tony Kumar not sure I’ll be able to find a lock to do a video. Opel isn’t sold in the US and I can only recall ever seeing one Pontiac GTO in my life. Not a car that ends up in the junkyard to often. If you have a lock you can send me I can do the video.
just right in time for a great video with awesome explanation of HU58. I have 2 cars need keys so this is explains alot. Thanks for your help! Any insight on how to get 2000 BMW 7 series programmed?
@@BoredLockpicker thanks much..I have 1997 bmw 528 key cut from a door lock but doesn't work in a ignition also same for 740li..any idea why they don't work in a ignition?
Too bad it’s a 3 series key, you get all cuts in the door. If it was a 5, or 7 series, then 3 and 9 are blocked off and you would have to get the cuts off the trunk lock to have a complete key to be able to use in ignition switch. Or use InstaCode to do cut probabilities. Good job, I feel these easy but a lot of folks think it’s hard.
Some people get confused because they forget that when you use dual lever lishi you have to decode opposite of how you picked. When I first did Bmw 4 track I was able to get single lever hu58 and it was a million times easier because even if you forgot how you picked it. It wouldn’t matter. Now single lever hu58 are no longer in production. Also all odd #’s are A and all even #’s become b maybe that is the mix up? Oh well. Have you done hu39 yet?
I did a 2007 Malibu today warded Lishi have you done a video on this? I find it easier after you pick it to read top and bottom at the same time all the way across it tends to read better
qicpic007 the B111 is sometimes real tough to read. The locks are so sloppy. If I have trouble I just pull the ignition. th-cam.com/video/mXYy2ivSk10/w-d-xo.html
Awesome tutorial. Can you please advise me what Lishis do I need as a beginner /starter locksmith business?
Nope. You just get the ones for the common cars in your area.
Appreciate your advice sir.
Question, I took the trunk lock out, does 11,12 positions don’t have wafer’s?
I was able to turn it just like you said. Thank you
The trunk lock won’t have wafers in those positions. Only the door does.
What about picking the ignition and removing it is the code on the ignition ?
No code on bmw’s

If its not HU92 then it will be HU58

I also made sure the tool was inserted all the way properly
I did try the hu92 Lishi just to see it doesn’t fit.
@@citylocksmith3553 hu92 and hu58 are the only 2 possibilities on that car. Did you try the ignition too?

No videos on HU39 are available. I've heard these are nightmare :)
I actually don’t have that Lishi. Never needed it I guess. Next time I put an order in I may grab one.
Will HU58 work for the OBD1 models? I have '95.
If it use the hu58 keyway then it will work

If there’s no wafer in that position you can cut it to whatever you want
If you fill your cuts into insta code do you get a valid code?
Really cool video and that is a confusing Lishi! Nice work on the edit too 👍

Garik Voronkoff thats very strange. If the ignition wasn’t changed and the lock isn’t broken it should work
Because the ignition is much tighter tolerances and also has added wafers that door does not have
This has either EWS3 or EWS4
Use VVDI prog and vvdi2 or Tango
Read EWS data then write key
Write data back to EWS
Start car
Collect $$$
