Totally disagree, especially when you are starting out. If you are the worlds greatest singer you really wouldn’t need to focus on all the other stuff, pretty dumb example. If you are just trotting along, following trends, making average music and just trying to job along and earn a crust then fine follow that advice. If you really do have an excellent product, you certainly don’t need to be feeding all of these leeches, you may need a few people in the chain but not many. Many of these roles are dead or dying and being replaced by tech, and it’s never been easier to market yourself and get your product out there. You are preaching a dead music model from the days of cd’s, which I find quite surprising.
