I read about rejuvenating old recurves and longbows, that you should never fully draw them when they haven’t been shot in a long time. Flex them little at a time. The problem with those ole compounds is that they fully flex the limbs part way through the cycle. Since that bow was hanging in a pole barn for decades, I’d let it just be a decoration. Very cool bow!
I was like you and wanted a Hoyt so bad and worked all summer to save up to buy one as a teenager. For some reason I ended up buying a vipertec instead of the xtec. I killed a lot of does and spikes with it and then I semi retired it when I bought my faktor 34. I was having major tuning issues with my faktor and I switched back to the vipertec last couple of years ( finally got it fixed). Using the vipertec last year I had the best season ever by killing the biggest point buck (9 point 3 1/2 year old) and then killing the best buck I ever killed ( 8 point 4 1/2) and filling every bow tag I had last year with that bow. Going to be hard to beat that season so I’m going to retire that vipertec and going back to my faktor lol.
Im now trying to learn Traditional. Friend gave me a vintage 70's Bear grizzly recurve I was hoping to take this year. But still not confident enough. And only have a month before season.
The fellow that I sold my Jennings Apex to 25 years ago contacted me and asked if I wanted it back. As thanks, he got a pile of fly fishing gear in exchange. Found some 2213 Super Slams and a pack of Zwickeys to complete the package. It killed some whoopin big bucks back then including my 30 year best from Manitoba. No reason why it can’t do it again!
Those limbs are from a early to mid seventies browning bow,,,originally that bow had four wheels ,,,two half way down the limbs to hold the cables out of your way ,,I killed many bucks with one of browning bows
I hear ya, hang it on wall. It might blow up hanging on wall one day anyway? Seen it before with old bows. Actually seen it in my hands with the old Browning Exploder bow. Michael Waddell is awesome.
So with all the deer you have shot. Have the trail cameras increased your success by a significant enough amount to make them worth it? Cost and Time spent fiddling with them.
That's a bow that should be on display I your trophy room and just be a conversation piece and something sentimental to keep relevant in your life

I am still shooting my PSE Thunderbolt X I bought in 2010. Still the quietest bow I have shot
My favorite bow is my Parker Kodiak Ive Been hunting with for ten year's.
Pretty cool bring back lots of memories.
My first bow that I paid for was a browning bridger back in the 90s. Before that I learned on a hand me down bear whitetail.
PSE Phaser II camo compound bow. Extremely quiet but weighed a ton!😂
Loved that ole bow!

No I don't really think so. Most even in recent years have been out of state hunts where no cams were involved
Do you live around Wabash? I live east of bass n bucks a little over an hour. Awesome place for hunting.

@beforetheecho that's what I thought but I've been wrong before
