If I'm being honest, I totally feel you on the heavy bleugh-ness of the last couple of weeks. Similar to you, nothing has necessarily happened in my life but I have just had no desire or inspiration to get things done despite having deadlines and a load of stress building up. However, I saved your previous video and this one up as a pretty late Sunday night treat to myself because I needed the comfort. I haven't read a single book for pleasure since this uni semester has started (partly because I have no time and also because I know I'll end up pushing everything else aside to just read). Which means that listening to certain people talk about books (such as you) has become a true heart warming joy. I keep telling myself that I need to make the time to just spend a few days immersed in a book(s) and also get myself to the ocean. Thanks for this video Gemma. Also - I thoroughly enjoyed Shuggie Bain so it was nice to hear you chat about it. Also big props to Phoebe for also getting me on to Convenience Store Woman. I can't wait to have multiple books on hold at the library again soon. Sending love x
I think its fair to say that we very much enjoy your videos whatever form they take :) Ones like this are lovely, the slower pace and more chatting is really nice and does feel almost more like having a conversation with you. And oh man those low feelings especially around pms! And that sense of being thrown off every time it comes round, even though you know its coming it always somehow manages to surprise you huh (especially when an unfamiliar symptom decides to express itself, grrr!). As for books, I just finished reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. I think you would really like it! Its a good one for if you've just read something pretty hard or are feeling a bit meh; it draws you in with its characters and its mystery. Its a lovely twisty turn-y tale about a woman and her rather fraught (but intriguing) family history ,with a parallel story about the woman who is charged with writing her biography. I wish you all the luck with finding your pup! I hope it works out :) xx
Despite what you may think of your content Gemma, your videos are always welcome. You engender a lovely vibe and your honest expressions on daily life are refreshing. Keep doing what you do and know that it is appreciated :)
Super calming video as always Gemma :) a book I just finished and absolutely loved is Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. It’s about a girl’s time at boarding school and it’s so astute and well observed and I’ve never come across another piece of media which captured so well ideas and feelings I didn’t think could be put into words. Not to overhype it ofc haha. I’ve since discovered it’s a bit of a ‘love it or hate it’ read so fair warning 😅 Hope you have a better week coming!
Thanks for yet another beautiful calming vlog. When you feel like it, I would love to see your Pilates routine (: Wishing you a nourishing week ahead. For book recommendation: The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy.
always appreciate your videos & how honest and 'as you are' you are in them Gemma
