Love ur work DTB. Just thought to share this. . This particular song was not the most musical but it's sincerity, theme and context makes it easily one of the greats. For some cultural context: Nigerian parents continue to pray for u and encourage u to do right and not "disgrace the family name" way into your adult life. The song thus starts with a call from what I believe is his mum who is an evangelist by the way. She tells him the kind of things I've described above yet he immediately follows this with his actual demons and perversions that are obviously contrary to the kind of things his parents would want to hear about. It's the classical conflict of ego Vs superego captured in a rap song... By a legend.
I actually reacted the way you did to M I when this album came out... I kinda compared this album to Jay-z's 444 album... My final honest opinion is Casper Nyovest inspired & brought M I outta retirement, Jude abaga kinda had no inspiration at a point & just was just alone in African hip hop scene... He's legendary
he didn't actually reach out to ross.. he just tweeted a response to a tweet from ross.. he tried to get a verse from nas.. which he got but he wasn't ok with nas' verse... there's an ongoing court case on that at the moment
