Dubai 911: "Dubai 911. What is your emergency?" Hotel Guest: "My hotel is on fire!" Dubai 911: "Okay... the address?" Hotel Guest: "YES!" Dubai 911: Please we need to know where to send the trucks. The address?" Hotel Guest: "Yes the Address!" Dubai 911: "That is what I am asking. THE ADDRESS?" Hotel Guest: "YES!"
+Fabricio B. Why would he need to record that way? This is the perfect way to hold your phone when recording something that is tall, but not very wide. Piss off.
+matthmatthmatth because it is 1/3 of the size it could be. It doesn't matter what he is recording. Because anyone and everyone that records vertically is a moron. Because your mom. Because no one asked you a goddamn thing.
Steady camera and vertical video is appropriate. Well filmed!

This building is one of many which have an aluminium cladding on the outside, this is typically what catches fire quickly and makes a big spectacle but the majority of the structure is concrete. This is usually why incidents like the one at the torch tend to have little to no casualties. It also happened to a similar smaller apartment block in bur Dubai a while ago. Still, with the approx 1.5 mill people gathered around it tonight I hope all goes ok!

+Komninos Maraslidis Thanks! Someone (from tall building fire safety network) just said on Sky News that this material is used a lot on tall buildings and that it causes the fire to spread so fast.He also said it is unlikely this fire will cause the building to collapse.
I don't understand what is feeding the fire... what on earth could possibly be this flammable? The building's façade is all steel and glass... could it be a gas line?
The nature of the event, ALMOST excuses the despicable Vertical Video. But not quite: the resolution is less than half of what it should be, when rendered into a 16:9 frame.
someone must of dropped a lit cigarette out the window which may have landed in between one of the joints in the cladding panel . As these Aluminium composite cladding panels are not fire rated the whole thing went up. Emmar this tells you something, Don't value engineer something which could impact on safety!

One of the few times where a vertical video is the better choice. :)
Fuck, the resolution on your camera phone is good
+Dan Deluis Person is in Dubai...what do u expect lol $$$$$$
+Josh Reichenbach and yet hasn't figured out not to record vertically
Fabricio B. So true

The new year is already a blast.
Hopefully they'll be able to fix it up. It seems like it was mainly the facade and not the interior of the building that was on fire.
What was used to record this video?!? Talk about amazing quality.
goes up like it's made of matches
good looking fire but not enough smoke... 4.5/10
360p 60fps. What a time to be alive.

+JJ Bricks Aluminum cladding.
The fire rises
Holy shit. Hope everyone got out okay. O__O
That's a torch.
Good climb fire
I guess this is what happens when you surround a building with flammable material.

@20 dubai on fire!
I was there 1 hour ago
