Rewrite : just made it, through, here's another option : When you first unlock Kursk mission, don't play it, play the African Campaign first, after this you would unlock the second difficulty for mission 1-3, and also HQ level 8 (or 9 i forgot), play 1 or 2 mission (i chose Patriotic and Blitzkrieg) to earn medals and resources, use that to upgrade your infantry, tank, and artillery, and the medals for for general's skill upgrade, or you can trade your medal for resources Now for the mission There's actually a lot more going on, there are many twist, turns, and possibilities in the mission which include different tactics, so, I'll just shorten it Gather all your army near Kiev, if you want to defend your oilfield or small city you can arrange your light infantry and battalion artillery near the oilfield, then the general infantry should attack, then engage him with your forces, depending on where he attacked, then, just hold the ground in Kiev and also make sure to always bomb Manstein in any given opportunity, after the other army (your ally on the other side) broke the siege and made its way to Minsk, join them with your available force and also recover your lost army and make more vehicles and troops, from then on it should be a win as long as you keep engaging Minsk.

Your tutorials aren't working for me sometimes your field artillery does 70 damage that means it's almost max level I wanna see your levels and wonder buildings or you do it without either of those too then it will work

damn, i think i am the only one used all troop (with 2 lv1 General and didn't upgrade anything) and built bunch of land fort and bunker created a big kiev's defence wall, just let the allies destroy Minsk, it was a very intense battle and super close call and i won :)
This strategy is pretty flawed. You can't defend Manstein like this, you don't have the damage to do so. Not even Landmines will really help. The strategy you should is use is exploiting the fact that Manstein will be the third wave of attack. The North won't even attack you, it's busy with the other Soviets. At the beginning, you must gather your forces near Kiev. If you lose it, you will lose the game. Anyways, you should defend Kiev and bomb Manstein at every single turn (If possible) and don't try to produce troops. It will drain your supply and you have more than enough to defend. When Manstein is defeated, it may be possible to go capture the southern city, but it's far more effective to charge at the Objective, the city in the North. (Forgot the names.) Your units probably have low health but you should be able to at least inflict heavy casualties/damage and take out enough for your ally to capture the city. If you think you have the forces, go ahead and take the Southern City. There is this one Moral lowering event that is hard to avoid. But your units will fight, you still should be able to defeat Manstein.
I am very sorry for everyone who is trying to play this game the normal way and trying to be succesful. You really should play the mod version of it. Its literally impossible to play this game through the normal way. You would need years to complete this game and when the aliens come around you will give up trying. I played this game so often the normal version and mod version and if you play in mod version its still too difficult. I have the best generals that ever existed but the alien mission's will whoop your ass.

I just got 3 stars no generals and level 7 hq all troops level 1. 2nd try aswell! I realised mannstein fucks kiev so i didnt attack minsk until he was gone. I focused more on using a tank to get the academy close to kiev and then kill mannstein. after that i got minsk in 3-4 rounds because kiev had no threat and my allies were strong
