    I can't thank you enough for your patience and excellent presentation of this video. You helped me immensely to do this job. The only addition to the task I made was to tape a "fish cable" to the plug when pulling the cable out and taped the new plug on the fish to pull it back up. Brilliant. Working on the floor with creaky knees and back, but completed the job in just over an hour .

    Hi Mike, I just want to say thanks for taking the time to make these videos. They're really well filmed and presented. All the best from England, Dave.

    Thank you Mike. All your videos are very clear and helpful. If I may offer an observation on the tappet adjustmnts I would suggest putting the spark plug back in before refiting the cover to avoid the possibility of dropping a screw down the spark plug hole . Also a great trick learnt from t a very good mechanic was too avoid breaking the gasket; Loosen all the screws equally and give the cover a gentle tapwith a hammer first one way and then the other . This will completely break the seal on one side or the other of the gasket and stop it from the sticking to both surfaces when you take it off which is a common cause of breaking the gasket . Ive been doing that for ages now and have never lost another gasket!
    Thanks again

    Nice one. I've not heard of this issue on a B750 before. Nice to see it is ridden 👍

    I know you didn't remove the rear wheel, but if you do, I'd offer the following: Whenever I change the rear tyre, I add some rubber grease to the cush drive rubbers if needed. It stops them falling out when putting the rear wheel on again. 😒. I also slap some thick grease on the gearbox drive splines for good measure, so stop them stripping out, which is a common problem on the V7 range. Many come ungreased from the factory, they are Italians after all. 😃. Mine is a 2003 model, the first year of production, they all seem to have been OK, but I still do this. Most of the effort is getting the rear wheel off in this job anyway, so why not do it at the same time.

    Hi Mike can you elaborate on a passing comment you made when removing the petrol tank of your Breva. That was to start the engine briefly before attempting to remove the fuel line . You said it made it easier to unclip.
    Why is that so? That bayonet type connection can be a real pain to get off. Thanks,

      It probably does nothing but the thought was that it may release any pressure still in the line.

    Mike thank you so much for these greatly presented series of videos about the Breva! Do you think that you can remove the sensor by only removing the stay in place brake bolt in order not to mess with the rear axle? Thank you! Alex

    • @MikesMachines
      @MikesMachines  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it is possible. The sensor sits only a few millimeters from the disc rotor and rotating the brake stay down with the axle in place won't achieve anything.

    I'm looking to, possibly, purchase a nice low mileage (we think) '05 Nevada. The speedo is not working at all. The owner has replaced the sensor but the speedo still does not work. (Odometer either) Any ideas?

  • @alexvargaslive

    Mike, I am reading about a dead odometer at around 15,000 miles on a Breva and the owner writes that all it needs is a speed sensor replacement. I would of course prefer a fully working original speedometer, odometer and trip reading. Did replacing the speed sensor also fix the odometer on your wife's Breva? I remember you mentioning is stopped working at 100,000. Is the speedometer, odometer and the trip reading all working well now? I thought maybe that would have brought her back to her second reincarnation starting from zero miles again and counting.

    • @MikesMachines

      The odometer stops working at 100,000 km because of a software issue. I believe it effects all Guzzis with this dash (Breva & Nevada). Everything else works fine - Speedo, Tacho, Trip meter.

      @@MikesMachines Thank you for your prompt response! It will likely affect it in the same way with 100,000 miles. Have a nice day, Mike. :)

    Mike - thank you for posting such informational videos on what has become my own bike - a 2008 Breva 750. You are the Guzzi Guru. I’m having an issue I hope you can help me with. I am able to start my Breva 750 when on the side stand with no issues at all, it as soon as I upright the bike to ride, it stalls. It will only run completely upright if Revs are over 2500. Any less and it stalls. It is the strangest thing. I think it may be a Fuel delivery issue but perhaps you could offer your expertise to help a fellow loyalist. Thank you in advance for your reply. Ed

      It sounds like it might be running on one cylinder when you lift the bike off the side stand. Check the plug leads and EFI & ignition connectors.

    Hi Mike! After pressure washing my Breva 750 the speedometer stopped working. The dash passes the initial check (both speedometer and revmeter needles work after I turn the key to on position) but the speedometer does not respond at all, neither the odomoter. The revmeter works normaly as well as all the indicator lights. I replaced the speed sensor with a brand new original one, but no luck. Do you have any idea what the issue is? Thanks in advance and Greettings from Greece!

      Firstly I'd suggest cleaning the instrument cluster electrical connections. They may have water in them. Now it is possible that the replacement sensor is also faulty. This post on Wild Guzzi may help you find the fault

    Hi Mike!
    I would like to ask a question.
    There is a Breva 750 from 2005.
    What kind of issue could it be when the odometer stuck at 99999 but the daily trip meter still working?
    Thanks in advance!
    My appreciation for your channel!

    • @MikesMachines
      @MikesMachines  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a design fault with the dash. The odometer doesn't clock over when it reaches 99999. Ours is the same.

      If the Speedo and both the odometer & trip meter aren't working it would be a prime suspect (check the wiring loom too). If you do a search for "testing a hall effect speed sensor" you will find some video tutorials on testing this type of sensor.
