    Hi Jason. I really like your "FPS first" philosopy. I have my own small gamer build business, and im really aligned with your suggestion for low-mid builds. There is far too many youtubechannels who only consider top-tier systems - and that is not where the majority are. 90% of my builds are in the range 900-1150$ (converted from DKK). Ryzen 5 5600(X) is my all time favorite. Im mainly going with B550, in the cheap end. I do not see the need to pay more for a normal pc wothout OC. You often mention the audio quality, is that really an issue in the cheaper model? Thanks for you :) Cheers from Denmark

    I built a 5600X machine to replace my 3600X audio production machine that in turn replaced my 1700 HTPC machine. So, the 1700 machine is now a ready spare. A 6-core Ryzen is probably all the CPU most people will need for the next three years or so. For gaming, I'd avoid 4K with the 5600. It can do it, but only with a GPU that completely unbalances the system. Honestly, I'd pair it with a used 1080Ti, which can be had for ~$180 US and has the VRAM you'll need to run AAA games at 1080p, and maybe 1440p, with the pretty textures loaded. Remember, you don't actually need a case for a PC -- you can build on the motherboard box and run it that way until you can afford the case you want.

    Love your vids. Ended up with a 5700G as I was waiting on graphics card prices to come down, honestly though I'm getting 40fps on some of the harder games so no rush to get a graphics card, as a wargamer/civ/strategy guy who dabbles in 1st person stuff I don't need the super graphics, got 2x 16gb Corsair Vengeance Pro SL 3600mhz optimised for Ryzen chips and 2 M2 HD's a super fast one for the OS and a 2gb slower one for games and honestly, it's absolutely sweet. Plus when I get my graphics card getting a 5800X3D for my Aorus Elite V2 Motherboard would keep things fresh for ages. My first build, powered with information gathered from your good self. Thanks!

    I've had my eye on both the RX 6700 XT (though I'm going used) and that ID-COOLING cooler you mentioned for a while now. I'm currently running on a 5600G and saving for a GPU, so when I get enough to buy the GPU, I'm going to toss that cooler on as well, just because I'm not 100% satisfied with the cooling of the stock cooler. Benchmarks saw it leveling at pretty strong temps, even before I overclocked it, so I just want to make sure I'm prolonging the lifespan of my CPU.

    • @isaace.6157
      @isaace.6157 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zayn3296 This is what I currently have in my PC, though in retrospect I might would have changed a few things. The RAM is completely for aesthetics, so you can definitely choose something cheaper if you want to. I originally went with a Teamgroup 3600/CL18 set but decided I wanted that cool G.skill set after I discovered it lol. The SSD is also kinda overkill. If I were to start over, I would have simply gone with the cheapest 1TB M.2, since gaming isn't really benefitted by speeds faster than what even low tier SSDs can provide. SATA is slower for more money, so I'd still avoid that, but boot up is the only thing you might want a blazing fast SSD for, and honestly, I have 12 seconds to wait for my PC to boot up lol. As far as the motherboard, I selected that one specifically because my monitor needs Displayport. Had I known what I was looking for, I might would have spent a little more for one with better audio, or maybe one with more aRGB headers. But that's just me; your needs might find this board perfectly fine. If you like the case I selected, I do need to mention that it's a tad smaller than even most mATX cases. Longer GPUs may have difficulty fitting, but I've only found a few to be too long. Anyway, that's the full rundown lol. Good luck with your build! pcpartpicker.com/list/CbKWk9

      Just saying, the % usage on CPUs is not the best metric to say that the CPU is not bottlenecking your GPU. Even a single game thread can bottleneck a GPU and then the CPU utilisation may well be low.
      In fact, I would even say that, due to the way graphics pipelines work, only a CPU could technically be a "bottleneck", because it is the one that takes place first, runs the gameplay and gives the scene to be rendered by the GPU (draw calls).
      Therefore, (assuming VRAM is not exceeded, PCI-E connectivity is sufficient and you are not bumping against the engine limit) I think the best metric is GPU utilisation.
      If your GPU is at around 95-100%, it means, as the last hardware before your Monitor, it is pumping as many frames at it can.
      If your GPU is hanging around 70-80% most of the time (even if you CPU is not pegged at 100%), this is not ideal, as even a mid-range GPU costs as much as a good CPU+MB+RAM combo.

      @@xdinhxchris In VR there is the information from the VR runtime, which shows CPU time and GPU time. When you are developing in the game engine, you also get access typically in a debugging window to CPU time and GPU time.
      The COD benchmarks I have seen contain CPU/GPU time graphs, which is very rare.
      But those are usually not exposed to external tools like afterburner and are available for VR games only.
      Maybe a workaround could be to test the flatscreen game in a VR virtual cinema mode and see what the CPU/GPU time show and even then you will be facing additional overhead from the VR environment rendering on top of the flatscreen game rendering.

      Very similar performance, in testing with various GPUs there is almost no difference between the two, so I'd take even that $20 and invest it in faster ram, more storage, and especially into a better GPU if that helps. 5600 is all about price efficiency.

    Retired my 11 y/o i3 4th gen personal office rig last year for a Ryzen 5600 and I was very happy when I did the switch. Old rig still usable for browsing and media consumption use so it's not meeting the pearly gates of recycling just yet.
    Have been using the stock cooler in the Ryzen 5600 rig in a darkflash dk431 case with a 1660 Super and it becomes kinda hotter than what I expect when playing BG3 or FFXIV, or when doing some video rendering. 71-75C CPU, 72-75C GPU. Ambient room temp is 25-28C, plus we're in the tropics so room temps can spike up to 32-34C on a really hot day.
    Much appreciate the recommendations on the air tower coolers. Now waiting for a Deepcool AK500 Digital for the cooler to replace stock. Also got Arctic P12 PWM PST fans to install after stripping all stock case fans as some of them already failed and had to make do with the non-PWM fans from an old PC case just to have airflow. No RGBs which I prefer, with the AK500 Digital the only display/light from within the case.
    Would also need to tweak the fans speeds too once those fans are set up; insides of the rig was a bit dustier than I expected, so cleaned up recently and did a smoke test. Lo and behold, yep, negative pressure just under the rear exhaust and it sucks air from the top mesh too 😅
    PS. Love the cat. :meow:

    Before watching this video, I put a lot of stuff in my cart on amazon to build something in the tier class of his budget system (starting around 11:10), and I have to say I'm happy with how mine compares to his in price and parts equivalence.
    The big difference is what I did with video cards. For my "budget build" (which is just brainstorming right now), I have my amazon cart, and one thing in ali express: an RX580 2048sp card, which is only about 80 bucks. The reason I went with that card is that I have one in the system I made for my brother, and the one I made for my father, and it's working great. I'd rather put a 6600XT in them, but that is between 3 and 4 times the cost (and I figure a GPU can always be upgraded later).
    So, how did I come to a total of about $680, when "skimping" on the GPU?
    E-waste!
    I've been watching a lot of Dawid videos, and his love and hate for e-waste amuses me, so I asked myself "if I were selling this on ebay and had to include obligatory e-waste, what would I include?"
    An Asus Tuf Gaming 24 inch 165 hertz 1080p IPS gaming monitor, a mouse/keyboard/headphone bundle, a deskpad, an HDMI cord, and a display cord (as both monitor and GPU support display port).
    Case, motherboard, ram, storage, CPU, GPU, coolers, monitor and e-waste... everything you need to go from having nothing to game on to having a full set, all for $680.
    And, of course, all built around the Ryzen 5 5600 CPU.
    This video is great for advice, and for comparing my silly build to.
    I did cheap out on the motherboard though. An a520 for 70 bucks. But when you look at benchmarks of cards in PCIe 4, 3, and even 2, ports, you realize that despite the significant difference in what the generations are capable of, in real world performance the difference is surprisingly small, so for a budget build I have no problems with it just being PCIe 3.0 (and I may be wrong anyhow. The amazon listing actually claims it has PCIe 4.0, and that the m.2 slots are limited to PCIe 3.0)

    The 5600 is a perfect foundation. Built mine 3 weeks ago and I’m not disappointed. Paired it with a RX6600 and gpu does all the grunt work, which is what it’s supposed to do. The cpu doesn’t need to get out of bed, box cooler is perfectly adequate.

    Idea for a video, sharing home build tips.
    My first one is to use an old soft laptop padded case (or similar) as a lazy Susan on a table.
    It let me use daylight easily turning the case around, so much easier to see small print on the board.
    The second one is to pre-route cables with easily visible coated white wire fasteners used on food bags and packaging.
    That way you see what needs attention later but benefit from having things neat.
    It let me do some routing that would require removing the power supply to squeeze the header through.
    Cable ties are too committing, so undoable easy twist wire ties will get the job done better than if you leave all the cable management for later.
    In personal builds, I ummm have lived with panels off or a stack of lose disks sitting next to the case as it was always more convenient than finishing 🙈🙈
    This temporary state has lasted for nearly a decade in one SMP server box I had, I literally only put the sides on to move house!!
    Using old HDD even from laptop is viable, you try out Romex's PrimoCache and allocate some system RAM and an SSD partition as cache. HDD transfer speed isn't the problem it's the constant back & forth.
    It's amazing how fast games can load (quicker than SSD) because the folders are pre-fetched into RAM after boot.

I started with a 1700 Zen 1 then went to a 2700X on an X370 Taichi Board. And I have to say that to this day Zen 3 is still more than enough if you are gaming at 4K. We all have M.2's and SSD's so performance is really negligible these days.. I did what Jason says to do I bought the best GPU at the time for the money, and was able to get the 5900X for the same price as the 5800X so that was a no brainer.. Then I went with a B550 ASRock PG Velocita, in a PHanteks P500A white Just like Jason's LOL.. I did a 980 500gig in Top M.2 and then went with a 1T 970 Gen 3 for the bottom M.2.. Would a set up like this have any issues running sim racing games? I sort of made my build sheet based off of this video. Seems like it’s perfectly in my budget. Main game is Assetto Corsa Competizione. Thank you for the amazing content! I’ve learned so much from you so far

      Should be great! Double check the recommend specs of the games you play to be sure you will get the kind of settings you want.

    The 1 TB MSI SPATIUM M470 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive is on sale today (4/14) on Newegg at 50% off with a $10 rebate. That comes out to $45 total for a drive that normally retails for about $80.

    I just did a build using a Ryzen 5600 and an ASUS B550m TUF Gaming board which I got on sale. I picked up a 5700xt second hand very cheaply. It's running great. Oh and for RAM I picked up some Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 3600 and it's running great.

    Your build for the 5600 is almost the same as my home build. 5600x. 6700xt. 32gb 3600 cl 16. Dark hero VIII mb. Great with 1440p.

    The only component that I regret in my recent build is the ASRock B550. The PCIe slot for the GPU is heckin low (4 and 5 IO slots on the case) and the GPU sags pretty bad. I've put a brace in the case to prevent damage but I'm just going to swap it out pretty soon.

    Thanks for the vid. Nice to know the parts as I am planning a 5600 or 13400 build but the pricing is really so far apart in my region. Most ridiculous is the asrock z690 extreme at $170. Cost like $400 in my market.

    I just got a new pc recently. I love my 5600x, works great! Not sure I’ll need to upgrade for another few years! Ill upgrade my 3070 to a 4070 one day, if I do plan to do any upgrades.

    I'm building my first pc with ryzen 5600, 16ram 3600 cl16, gigabyte b550 ds3h ac, 1tb ssd, and where I live (Argentina) I have a HUGE deal for a rx 6800 xt for only $270 dollars (used, but great condition). Should I go for a higher CPU or is the setup okay?

    • @PCBuilderChannel
      @PCBuilderChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good CPU/GPU combo :) Congrats on the deal and good luck with your first build!

    This build guide gives me hope for the parts I've ordered. So, thanks!!
    I'm no PC guy, but I can put one together (I think lol)
    Before viewing this, I purchased
    Ryzen 5 5600X
    ASUS Dual Radeon RX 6600 8GB GDDR6
    ASUS PRIME B550M-A Wi-Fi II
    Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2
    Corsair VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16
    Corsair RM750e (2023) Fully Modular, 80 PLUS gold efficiency
    And I cheaped out on the case a bit...
    Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L
    Hopefully all this works together :/ We will ee come Tuesday, anything stick out/worrying here to a more experienced person?

    The Ryzen 5 5600 supports gen4 X4 NVMe M2 drives on B550 motherboards. Although an "ultra-fast" M2 such as the Lexar NM790 or Samsung 990 Pro might not make a huge difference in gaming, they can produce enormous speed advantages in complex image editing operations and countless other complex operations.

    Is it okay if I buy one 16gb RAM instead of 2x 8GB?

      @PCBuilderChannel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No! You don't want one stick of Ram, always 2. See our Best Ram for Gaming video for more

    Jason, would you consider posting a 5600x3D build? I know it’s a niche processor due to Microcenter exclusivity… but I’m about to put together a $500 PC as I have my old RTX 2070 just laying around so that won’t factor into the budget. I’m going to use AM4 and start with a Ryzen 3600 I found for $85 new on Amazon.

    Do you think that the 650w psu is enough for a rx 6700xt? I really don’t want to mess up the psu

    • @SilverArr0w
      @SilverArr0w ปีที่แล้ว

      It is also depends on cpu, mobo etc. As I as I know at least 650w is what they recommend. I hoping to build 5600x with 6800 (non xt) with b550 mobo and I will go for 750w.
