Great tip on the compound blur. I love that effect. I've done that water floor trick in the past by masking out the floor layer, but that's a great way to get the floor texture in there. Excellent use of set channels too! And you gave me a great idea for a tutorial as well. Great tutorial as always! Welcome back Andrew!

When I add the displacement map onto the new solid (2:48) it won't show the map Andrew gets. Instead my layer stays black. Can anyone explain what i'm doing wrong? Would love to know..

I'm having alot of trouble because After Effects is not cooperating with me and even if i follow the exact Tutorial still something does not work in the end for no reason. I swear i'm not doing anything wrong. The Programm for example won't let me turn on "repeat edge pixels" or the glich effect will stop animating for no reason. WTF to be honest

I got a small issue, maybe someone can help with. I tried to follow along, when I try to add the fast box blur, my second fractal noise layer starts to ignore the screen blend mode and all i see in the displacement map comp is the second fractal noise effect with the small dashes, not both combined like it is supposed to be. Anyone know what is happening?
What helps me was to put the Fast Box Blur between Fractal Noise 1 & 2... If u put it over the Fractal Noise 1 u have the same issue... IDK why, but it works. ^^ And if u have the same problem as me, that the fractal noise 2 dont work together with the brightness of the fractal noise 1, i put the blende mode on add instead of screen... it look a bit different, but u have the advantage that the both fractal noise work together. :)
Which AE version you are using? For me it does seems to be a bug in AE CC 2017. At least this is my version. Mover over in provided project files are two 2018 and CC 2015 version. I couldn't open the newer one, however in CC 2015 I don't have that issue.

I‘ve got only one word to say: WOW! 😳 ...it looks so damn easy after watching you building the effects but as always it‘s damn hard to get this results starting with a white paper. Never heard of „Compound Blur“ but this effect gives it that WOW-touching look that pushes the whole thing with the effort of seconds. Genius, Andrew...as always!

I can find the title in other place, but when i duplicate it and change the title in the copy it also changes the title in the original. I don't know what's going on anymore.looks like i have to start again

Even changing the value of the Contrast on the Fractial Noise is resulting in the animation to stop existing...

Try changing the order of the fractal noise. Moving the fast box blur between fractal noise 1 and 2 worked for me.
