Omg there was a moment on the trailer where it where it flipped open and I thought the new switch was also a virtual reality headset...I should just go buy a VR headset.
OLED is also used in pretty much all VR headsets, which is why the picture quality looks amazing in VR games. OLED also allows for higher refresh rates at higher quality, which makes videos and games seem incredibly smooth.
I love the information here. Studying for my CompTIA A+. I was also amused at this video being as old as it is. We have this now as common in all devices for the most part.
kattamaran Nobody said anything but when we moved from CRT televisions to flat screens, we were giving up on a lot of years worth of service life. We're expected, as consumers, to buy a new flat screen TV every few years.
525Lines You get ones with built in DVD players? My family has a Vizio that is on almost constantly for 7 or more years and works like new, and my aunt has a more than 10 year old Westinghouse with a built in DVD player, and it's fine too.
@@Willmelendz it is expensive, but if you want to watch content in unimagineable quality you have to get one. I watched Frozen 2 on it, and even though the movie sucks I was amazed by every scene, bc the visual effects are just the best.
So actually, LG still uses a backlight, actually a full-array backlight. But this time behind every subpixel. Philips did this ages ago. When Samsung launches a OLED display, it will really take off.
Probably not, @@mbumbrah, I'm in Ghanaian computer engineering student. But I've been intrigued, I'll certainly look it up when it occurs. If you don't mind, you could let me have your Facebook and email so that we interact there, and you can let me know what new stuff they made with OLED. I think it's all very fascinating
Beats an LED hands down, but different sources need different settings. That’s ok, it’s worth the trouble to get near photo realistic images. And now, in 2018, the price has come down.
My vita first gen has OLED ad I gotta say I love it. I can't bear use my little sisters vita because is the new type with LCD or LED (I can't really remember) OLED is awesome!
Actually this video just give a sneak peek of what the real physics going on behind it. You must see the video of the scientist and his team who invented the technology first. That's even more exciting.
zunedog31 OLED's been around. There was a Russian company trying to come out with a keyboard with oled displays on the buttons that changed as needed. This was a while ago.
Two months ago I bought 55EG960V,.)). It turned out that in vain I was happy. During testing it turned out that the TV is faulty: not working, TV in 3D mode image. Caused a wizard, he brought a new matrix, but for some reason didn't fit... then gave the application to the service center.... Poor quality.
Ah yes they didn't explain that one well at all. All you need to know is that pretty much all tvs that are marketed as an "LED TV" actually do not have true LED displays. They're all just LED backlit LCD screens. I know it's a stupid thing but companies are completely allowed to sell you a tv marketed as an LED when the only thing LED about it is the backlight
Using iPhone X: This display is the best i’ve ever seen. It doesn’t affect only black colors, either. It also affects all the other colors, making every color with less contrast. TL:DR Everything looks better.
All there is to know is that a TV marketed as an LED TV for the most part actually doesn't have a real LED display. They're just allowed to call them LED TVs but they're actually just LCD TVs with an LED backlight instead of CCFL
Now I know what that new switch is all about
Lmao that’s why I’m here
and it still aint worth a current gen price tag.
ayyy
Omg there was a moment on the trailer where it where it flipped open and I thought the new switch was also a virtual reality headset...I should just go buy a VR headset.
Me too
Move on to 2020, it's everywhere and cheap. Love looking back at old vids like this. It just emphasises the leaps we make in such a short time.
only for a first world upper-middle class person.
I wouldn’t say cheap but more cheap then it was still kinda expensive
It’s still pretty expensive.
OLED is also used in pretty much all VR headsets, which is why the picture quality looks amazing in VR games. OLED also allows for higher refresh rates at higher quality, which makes videos and games seem incredibly smooth.
Lol, we now putting this in our phones
Marcos Figueroa samsung since 2010

well explained.
short, but no time wasted. keep up the good work.
3 year fast foward. Iphone X is oled
made by Samsung
So as other brand, ur point be??
Fast forward 6 years from your comment the iPhone 15 is still the same as an iPhone X
Apple really needs this
Apple do not make tv's
+MasterMorality Master well they have Laptops, "Desktops", and mobile devices with screens....

MaTrIx your samsung is qled which acts like op-ed but is still led

That’s easily the coolest technology ever
What kinds of organic materials are used in OLED TVs?
David Halligan soylent green
+Novak Kosanović laced with LSD
Urine
Watching to learn about the tech in the Switch OLED
Should have added that one color starts earlier decaying. Thats why no other manufac. Picks it up. And lg has a patent on its white pixels
kattamaran Nobody said anything but when we moved from CRT televisions to flat screens, we were giving up on a lot of years worth of service life. We're expected, as consumers, to buy a new flat screen TV every few years.
+525Lines My family has never had a flat screen die, they've either simply been replaced, or got cracked.
New American Fishkeeper I've had them die and the built in DVD players never last long.

I mean it’s going more mainstream now but with burn in as an issue I don’t know if I am willing to switch to Oled.
Ok, that explains the switch
So actually, LG still uses a backlight, actually a full-array backlight.

When Samsung launches a OLED display, it will really take off.
They drop'd oled
They actually did not drop it. They shifted their focus to Quantum dots.
Think about the mobile phone screens.
1:28 Lol, the right one really seemed better quality than the left, I almost saw it like an 8K commercial.
i just bought oled monitor,.. cant wait to test it
Plasma could shut off individual pixels....
But they don't make them anymore since they're considered energy hogs
If OLED is organic.... can it be used in outside displays? Will things like temperature effect it?
Good question. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer, but I'll try to find it out

I'm playing on my Oled switch right now.
After switching from iphone 6s to One plus 7 I don’t think I can shift to any other phone without Oled screens
Great video, more video like this please!
Which one is better?
OLED or Quantum Dot(QD)?
so they save power?
Mason Echols yup and much more efficient
So that's what makes the switchU different from the regular switch
2 years later: look my iPhone X has an OLED display I don’t even know what OLED is but it sounds cool
More videos like this please :)
Just got a Pixel 4a for $350. Has OLED. Tech changes quick.

The Zune HD had an OLED screen in 2009.
there where oled phones in the 80's or 90'...
But it was a Zune
At a state where it's still isn't capable of producing natural colors and is power hungry.
Anas Malas Not sure I see your point.
zunedog31 OLED's been around. There was a Russian company trying to come out with a keyboard with oled displays on the buttons that changed as needed. This was a while ago.
tfw when oled is mainstream
But what is that "organic matter"?
Great to know
Plasma is still better. The lighting is real, and when u see the sun ur eyes really hurts.
Watching this on my galaxy s9 plus😉

5x oled is normal thing now there is AMOLED,QLED etc...
FCC should sue companies for holding OLED back
love the passage of time. now they are everywhere. Lol

Forget OLEDs. Check out the lame dancing in that HP laptop commercial. That's about as well as I can dance.
Is OLED the same as just LED? Why is there an O in the word?
LED stands for "light-emitting diode". The "O" in OLED stands for "Organic" from my understanding. I might be wrong though.
how about an OLED VS LED video

OLED makes the black more black and the colours more brighter

Oled is an LG its an LG engineering!
Hahaha, I get it now! Thanks
Hopefully I'm watching it on my OLED laptop...
why would i spend more money just to see black color better??
Abdurachman Guno it overall improves the display quality making it look better and it could save more battery if youre not using unnecesary pixels
