Boat trapped by fallen tree - rescued...

Shortly after setting off in the morning I came upon a fallen tree with a boat embedded in it. Turns out the boat (NB The Busker) had got stuck trying to force his way through. He couldn't go forwards or backwards. So I turned elektra into a tug boat and soon had him free. Dave, from NB Lost Highway, had some chest high waders so he went to put them on and climbed in to do some sawing. The water soon came over the top and he got wet through. I decided to give moral (and physical) support by joining him and helping. The water was surprisingly cold but as Dave said, you soon got used to it. We felt around and managed to saw enough branches away to get the boats through. Great team work by all involved. There was a queue of around half a dozen boats each side of the blockage by the time we finished. Someone did phone the CRT and they sent a couple of guys to take a look but they reckoned it might be Tuesday before contractors turned up.
