Thanx. I don't there is anyone today or since Bobby performed who can come close to being a total package performer/entertainer. And I don't know if he made a lot of money, but I truly believe Bobby Darin did this for the love of it. I'm sure he might've made a lot of money, but no amount of money could "make" anyone be as passionate as he. As one of his interviews said he never records a song without thinking it might not be a hit
Bobby is such an amazing talented man!! He was an entertainer and a musician!! He had an amazing voice and is greatly missed!! Im 17 and I just recently started listening to his material and to say the least I am amazed!! Much better than music of my generation!! "Music" and "performances" just arn't the same as they used to be back then!! Live performances these days are all visual and no talent. Music these days are made by computers. Bobby was a REAL musician and a true entertainer:]
This performance might be seen by many (or more) as cheesy, dated, corny or theatrical etc but, quite frankly, I couldn't give a rat's ass. This is, quite unequivocally, god-given talents being put to full use. This bloke was so gifted it's enough to make your eyes water.
You're absolutely 💯 %!right about Mr. ROBERTO CASSOTTO! KNOWN AS BOBBY DARIN! CAN PLAY ANY KIND OF 😇 😊 😉 😀 😄 😜 INSTRUMENTS AND ALSO COULD SING THE WHOLE INTIRE PHONE 📱 📲 ☎️ 📞 📳 🤳 BOOK 📖 😀 😄 🤔 😆 😁!
I find it very difficult to understand how he can make all these moves, all the while singing, and not just singing, but singing with such "heart felt passion" that you can actually feel, especially considering his heart problems!! I am very jealous of all the people in the audience who were able to experience his live performance of this song. They must have left the theatre walking on clouds!! I know I would have :-) RIP Bobby - sure hope I will meet you later singing for Gabriel.
NO one NO ONE AT ALL !!! Can compare or come close to the amount of energy, feeling, soul, and talent that Bobby Darin put into one of his performances. If so called "musicians" today think there hot shit, they need to take a look at this. and I'm only 20 and I'm pretty versatile in my musical selection
THE MAN BOBBY D.!!!! CAN DANCE..do you see his moves...a natural...like Michael Jackson...DRIVING and SEXY from the core...unbelievable..the best ever..thanks for posting.
What I always found so amazing about Bobby Darin was his total dedication to his one great desire and love, his music and entertaining his fans the globe over.... Even with Bobby's health not being all that great at this time this is all the more amazing that he went all out giving his greatest performance and showing everyone just how it should be done, with total perfection, more amazingly Bobby lived so much longer than originally predicted.... What his fans never realised at the time was that when Bobby went back stage he was sucking on oxygen so he could keep going, the man just had to give that 1,000 percent performance.... Bobby kept giving his all till it hurt, it always had to be 1,000 percent in everything he ever did and the smallest of details were always factored into his performances.... Everything was always done in exceptionally true Bobby Darin style, this multi-talented young man just continued out classing everyone else and all those in the business at the time knew it.... Bobby packeted several life times into just a few short years of his exceptionally amazing career before God tapped him on the shoulder and called him home.... He was not just a singer / entertainer, for Bobby was so much more, he was one heck of a fine actor, a comic with perfect timing and he always delivered the goods exceptionally well, plus he could really dance with soul too.... Plus played several instruments too.... Bobby always sang with such warmth rich mature vocals, deeply felt heart and soulful emotion.... His ability to dig so deeply into a songs depth for it's pure essence was really something which set him so far apart from others, then what came out of Bobby's mouth was the most exquisitely beautiful moving song that touched me so deeply to the inner depths of my own heart and soul bringing me to tears.... His songs still do.... Bobby Darin to this day is the only singer / entertainer who has ever touched me so deeply to my inner depths and made me cry with his singing... He is the young man with the golden voice and touch who achieved all he set out to do in his life, be it so short, leaving a huge body of work, this young man has left a wonderful legacy.... There are many young singers today who have started their career because of Bobby Darin and his music, that in itself is awesome.... Bobby not only sang with such soul he moved with such soul too, watching him in this again tonight just shows how much performing was a huge part of him and Bobby just wanted to share his God gifted talent with the world and this he did exceptionally well.... Bobby taught me so much in life, I am eternally grateful to him, he is still my big hero. Bobby's all to soon passing saddened everyone , but we are a better people for having had Bobby Darin as part of our lives and gracing our world even if only for a short time.... BOBBY YOU PLAYED AND DID YOUR PART SO WELL, YOU LEFT US PRECIOUS MEMORIES TO REMEMBER YOU BY, WE HAVE YOUR EXQUISITE MUSIC & MOVIES.. REST IN PEACE BIG GUY YOU ARE MISSED, REMEMBERED AND ALWAYS LOVED XO BOBBY DARIN STILL ROCKS OUR WORLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember as a kid growing up in the 60s and 70s watching him on our four channel television set. Whenever he came on, I would always dance along and just be fixed to the screen watching him. He was amazing. I like all kinds of music and I sure like that genre of music back then and still do to this day. I miss that cool style.
The same here Jeff! Thanks for sharing this wonderful 😊 🫂 🙏 ❤️ 😀 💕 about growing up in the 1960s and the 1970s!I am 64years old now!I was born on August 6th, 1960!
@RobotSlaughterhouse Bobby Darin is an inspiration. He did all this with a terminal heart condition, too! He didn't ever let his disabilities get in his way.
His foot movement is so smooth it looks like the bottoms of his shoes have been oiled. He was such a class act. Miss him every day. thanks for posting.
my grandfather was telling me about this performance.. and how he had only seen it twice and wished he could see it again. I told him i could probably find it. Sharing a few beers i did a quick youtube search and found this video. Immediately he yelled "THATS IT! THATS IT!" He was so happy to see it again! thanks for this!
Apparently Sammy Davis Jr. was in the audience at this show; I have a recorded version of this performance from a compilation and Bobby called Sammy "the greatest entertainer in the world" before he started the song. Class act all the way.
Bobby didn't just give 200 per cent on this song (which he did it is fabulous)) he gave 200% or more to everything he ever attempted to do he was the ultimate entertainer, a real class act. love this thanks
He is forever in my heart and the hearts of us fans who love and appreciate his many talents. At 74 years old, I loved you in my teenage years but love and appreciate you more as I see your interviews, movies, videos, and read about who you were as a man. You said “I want to be remembered as a great entertainer and as a man”. You achieved that and more because you are the best entertainer the world has seen and will never see another like you again. You had such soul when you sang a blues song I want to cry, but when you started dancing and swinging, I want to jump up and dance. You really enjoy performing and it shows on your face. In 2021 I need something to make me smile and you crack me up with your many hilarious impersonations. Athletes are told to leave it all on the field..........well you always left everything on the stage. You gave us your best even when you were ill and we still want more. Can’t get enough of you........classy, handsome, sexy and THE REAL DEAL! You had a very sensitive caring soul and you had so much more yet to do in this world. You were never loved as you deserved to be loved. But sadly life offers no do overs. God blessed you with more talent than any other entertainer and this fan will always be watching and listening to Walden Robert Cassotto. Well done Bobby! You’re loved and missed and your star still shines bright!
=) You feel down? Just put on a Bobby Darin vid! Everytime I hear and see him dancing, singing like this I cant help but smile and all this energy hes putting into the song is just incredible! He said on the recording at the Desert Inn that this is a song that "Makes him feel as good as he can possibly feel" and did you ever see sombody have that much fun on stage as Bobby? I think its beautiful I think hes beautiful performing like this with a weak heart. Bobby, YOU keep lifting ME higher ♥
I have even heard Bobby sing this song before and its the "lemme hear that tune Billy" that just gets me no matter how many times I hear it. love it. thanks for posting it is appreciated. I think Bobby really liked this song, he always gave every song his best and always did an amazing job because that is who he was but I think he enjoyed this song. It is in my favorites and has been for a while now. He does lift this song to a new level. typical Bobby Darin.
Bobby Darin will forever amaze me. I never know know what genre of music of classify him as (Swing, Rock, Folk) because he seamlessly did them all. He had one of the shortest careers I've known and when he puts his mark on songs like this one, I'm constantly searching for the "repeat" button. I have so much respect.
Actually, his PROLIFIC career was far longer than many others'. He produced more recordings and live performances and composed more songs and scores in a couple decades than most others who have been blessed with a long career did in twice the career span (and most of his peers did not have all of his virtuoso skills, most of them were just singers). He remains the GREATEST multi-genre composer, singer, MASTER performer in history. Keep digging, you have MUCH undiscovered BD treasure in store for you. I find new BD video/audio every week, and I've been a fan since the 1960s.Thank you, TH-cam! Take me back to the BETTER CENTURY!
Try 25 minutes at a time, I play it several time a day, 5-6 times back to back :-) I can't get enough of this song, or this phenomenal performance!! What a fantastic performance!
You are so right, he was incredible and his timing, everything he attempted was perfect or darn near. It was a very great loss and this is one of my favorite songs he did, I love let me hear that tune Billy. just great
lemme hear that tune Billy, gosh, I just love this, Bobby amazing Darin. Just keep posting those great Darin videos latefor and we will keep watching. Help keep this amazing man's talent and memory alive. thanks for posting.
Let me re-iterate how much I love Bobby Darin before I start some flame war. I think he's one of the greatest all-around -entertainers of his era, and a master of phrasing and vocal delivery. He just lets go and flies with such freedom and exuberance, and that's why he's so fascinating to watch. I always thought it was crazy that Roger McGuinn from the Byrds got his start with Bobby... Those must be some interesting stories.
This is my all time favorite of Bobby's performance of this song. I just love it. It is truly amazing to watch this and know how sick he was here, you would never know it by the performance, he was the ultimate performer.thanks for posting
It's incredible to know how ill he was. God, what a perfomer. Bobby lived to perform and this number really shows it. Those of you who think he was racist, check your facts. He was active in the civil rights movement, used black musicians when the studios didn't want him to, and refused to play clubs where black performers weren't allowed. The line is SWEET LITTLE ANDREA GIRL!
I thought when you just sang BOBBY ""SOFTLY AS I LEAVE YOU ""WAS HEAVEN SENT BUT THEN I HEAR YOU COVER NEIL DIAMONDS ""SWEET CAROLINE ""YOUR BEAUTIFUL SOUL IN A BALLAD IS SO ""SOOTHING "AND PERFECTLY SERENE ITS UNBELIEVABLE WITH ON THE THE BOBBY DARIN SPIN IS A MIRACLE ON STAGE NEVER SAW ANYONE LIKE HIM AND I MET ALL ACCEPT CLAPTON OF THE BRITISH INVASION IM IN HEAVEN LISTENING TO ALL THESE DIFFERENT SONGS AND RANGES OMG BOBBY THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER BOBBY DARIN
Hes MAGICAL on STAGE BEST thst ever WAS LOVED BOBBY DARIN I SANG AND HE KNOWS EVERY PITCH NOTE ,THE BAND AND BACK UPS ARE AWESOME HE WAS FABULOUS ARTISTS NEVER BE ANOTHER BOBBY DARIN NEVER
Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm sure there may be some that might not agree with me, but in my opinion, he was the best. Better than Sammy, Elvis, Jackie, and others that follow. He could sing, dance, play any instrument, and emit such love and emotion of music through it all. It's obvious he love music and performing soothed his soul.
I totally agree with you on that. he always makes me happy. :) I really like the variety he had from about 68 to the end in the 70's. That's when I think he was doing what he really wanted to do...You can still feel it.

Bobby is so filled with soul and rhythm. that his feet cant stop dancing....What a talent and that voice...one of the best!

One of the best enterteiners in the world. They don't make them like they used to. Really sad he departed so early.
The most underrated singer in the world
Bobby Darin was indeed the best all around musician of the era. He was the BEST!!!
In this whole era I don’t think I admire someone’s work more than Bobby Darin .
Bobby is such an amazing talented man!!

Love Elvis but Darin in a different league, absolutly divine talent amazing. Awesome.
Tracey Challenor Too bad they could not have did a song together. They both left this world too early.
Yep Elvis, Darin and Jackie Wilson simply best ever all gone to early
Just UNDER ELVIS. i love bobby. However not in ELVIS'S league

I know that got cut off from the video and it was a joke
Sure makes it seem impossible to believe he had anything but the world's soundest heart.
What a giver.

Great talent!:)
Thats cool. I wish youtube had been around when my grandfather was alive. Glad yours enjoyed it!
Greatest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just watch the man's feet! Bobby was a genius we were robbed by his obscenely young death.
I love that little stink face he does at 2:24 I think it's my favorite part because of expression. He knows he has swag ;)
I totally agree with you on that. he always makes me happy. :)
I really like the variety he had from about 68 to the end in the 70's. That's when I think he was doing what he really wanted to do...You can still feel it.
Bobby had the moves long before Michael Jackson had any.
Watch him sing The Midnight Special. The man can move and move and move!
1st moonwalk was done by Bill Bailey.
(1955)
I could watch him for hours.
Dang that was great
No ma dico?ci rendiamo conto di come da stare sul palco quest' uomo?piu lo guardo più mi rendo conto che e' leggenda
