Hey@@J0hnSm1th glad it work out for you in the end :). I still have another video planned that can address "east-to-west" traffic (i.e. VLANx to VLANy) since I got a few inquiries about it in the past i.e. some users have server VLAN and they would like to have better/faster access to it. It's taking some time for the build up for that topic (i.e. LAG, and this one, STP) so soon I will be able to upload that.
@@deadmeats Thank you very much for everything!!! You are doing a great job here since it is apparent to us all that you offer a lot of value through your videos!!!
Meaning you can have 2 uplinks (going to L3 ER8411 router) without LACP? Just using STP? Ive been looking for this kind of setup. 😅 Also what if ill add 3 more switch? Same procedure? I should enable RSTP on specific ports? AFAIK also need to change the bridge priority to select whos going to be the Root Bridge.
heya @davidesguerra7837, thanks for dropping by the channel. ER-8411 is just a Layer 3 router, so it doesn't support LAG/LACP (mostly relegated to Layer 2 Switch or Multi-layer Switch). So the trick is, use the switch's RSTP Loop Detection to provide multiple uplinks from Switch to Gateway, the switch will detect the loop, and block one of the port. This is not a recommended approach to do it, but I just put it out there as I got some inquiries regarding this in the past. As for adding more switches, I highly recommend you start RSTP purely on Switch first and get them to work. Then ocne it is working, include your Gateway. I have similar video doing this approach, you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/DLekggDKZgk/w-d-xo.html
@@deadmeats thanks bro for replying, currently eto kasi vendor ang dine-deploy ko for my clients. Pinoy ka bro noh? Hehe.
Bali yung design ko is isang DISTRIBUTION switch (so dito ko lang enable yung RSTP like nung setup mo sa Vid tapos set to low priority number? Thanks!
Hi Sir, naka enable ba by default ung blocking nung port kapag may loop? Kaso nung nag ka loop, nag down parin buong network. Salamat Sir
hello @christianabellarwtf , salamat sa pag drop by sa channel. Ang alam ko eh by default, naka off sya. Okidoks, good hunting!
@@deadmeats Naka choose ung Lan Port Detection Port Based.
Nice video ! I learn more about Omada with your videos, thanks man ! 😁👌 Can I apply this with an ER-605 v1 instead of the ER8411 ?
heya @nathanaelplacide3722 thanks for dropping by the channel. Yes, absolutely! STP is dependent on the Switch rather than on the Gateway
Oh my God!!! I cannot thank you enough!!! You are the best :D
Hey @J0hnSm1th, thanks for the kind words. It's still not LAG with increased bandwidth, but still got some redundancy :)
I know but still it is better than nothing ✌️
