Awesome video. Pretty cool you stopped by the Mine for a quick tour! Heading out to Colorado soon for a visit...I need to check some of these places out while there....cause we have no gold here in Florida!
This is the one mine in the area that we didn't make it to when we were out there. Hopefully next time. The tours are very interesting. Thank you Shane for your videos!
Enjoyed the video Shane, really thought that you would have only gotten 2 or 3 pieces. I am surprised that you found that much. I sometimes buy those gift shop bags just to have fun with my grandkids. They enjoy finding the treasures. I kinda like the fact that they make it bigger to see as my grandkids sometimes have trouble seeing the gold and I of course go behind them and find what they missed. Thanks for the video. Stay safe and happy hunting
Stayed in Idaho springs first week of August. Panned at the Phoenix mine but stayed across from Argo. Love that area all the way west down through Leadville. Cant ever get enough of those Rockies 👍also random question, have you ever worked with manzanita for guitar necks?
As soon as I saw the shape/flatness of the gold as well as the 'play sand' style concentrates, it definitely seemed geared towards letting kids (or even just tourists who have never panned before) feel like they're getting the prospecting experience while make it as easy as possible. As a souvenir, I totally get why it's like that. Maybe that could consider having an 'authentic' style bag as well as this more tourist-friendly variant.
The Argo gold mine is a hard rock (Load) mine and mill. The gold would be flattened by the mill. But I would agree the product was play sand and not millings with the gold added. Good review Shane.
Maybe they could sell a bag with the flattened gold for beginner prospectors then sell a bag with natural lookin gold for the more experienced? Great video Shane! Thanks a bullion! 🙂
The gold was definitely hammered, when I saw the first gemstone I instantly knew it was a banded agate. I see them in WA. at the ocean beaches quite often. You're correct in saying that it's not a true panning experience, excellent video.
I'd have liked a personally purchased bag to be panned too for a comparison, but I'm a cynic. Nice little bag, gold hammered flat to make it look better and easier to pan. I appreciate that, not for pro home panners though.
Hey Shane! My wife and I are watching your 50 states of Treasure hunting and we can’t find our home state. Ohio! Did u forget to visit the heart of America? There’s treasure everywhere here. Our sidewalks are made of gold!
We smash around 5 tiny pickers in a hydraulic press, toss it in some dirt and sell it you. Grew up right next door. Was teaching people to pan as an employee there at 14 years old.
I'm a fan of all types of music but extreme music is definitely the most interesting because it keeps my attention the most. Almost Everything else puts me to sleep
@@Klesh I’m always curious. I also like 99% of all music but Black Metal fans are rare and I’m always curious how they got into it. Btw, I’m sure that gold was stamped from ore and added to sand like you said.
This isn't really paydirt, it's more of a tourist item. I imagine the flour gold is naturally occurring and the other stuff was added to boost the value and experience.
Flat gold. Could be from a stamp mill which pounds the ore. Other possibility is that from the lode, this gold was smashed flat by rocks to that shape as it is relatively soft.
@@Klesh there's next to no information on anything in this particular area. Most areas here it goes soft soil, thick sticky clay, rich orange sand/silt, mixed gravels then more clay.... I'm struggling to gain much information
Just did a bag of El Dorado from Alaska. Don;t bother. 2 dollars of gold out of a bag that cost 35. It is the worst paydirt I have seen and I feel like a dumbass. Why I strayed from your paydirt I dont know. Every bag of yours I have gotten has had more than your stated amount. I even found gold in the Gem and mineral bag that has no gold guarantee.
Thanks for sharing Shane. You had me going there for a minute I even rewound the video twice checking the 0.08. LOL. Cheers
Sorry!
Great review, Shane. Thanks for sharing 👍
I never get tired of the “let’s take a look at it in the pan.”
As always, an interesting video, Shane. Your visit to the mine knocked this one outta the park! Thanks.........
Glad you enjoyed it
Very cool mine! Thanks for the tour!
AUsome video as always! You have a special gift on your way from Hercules and Scorpion Metals 🎉
That's awesome Shane I'm gonna have to make a trip to your state soon
Cool find fam. Keep on having fun and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
Good to know! Thanks man
Looks like Rusty got a makeover !!
Really enjoyed the extra content! What a decent little mine tour
Lovely bag of gemstones
Interesting squished gold 🤔. Great video thanks
Awesome video very cool visit to the mine
Hey brother, I've watched your vids from the start. I'm so ready for your fresh"new" videos, thanks.
Here's one of them
Still a cool bag of paydirt!! The stones were a nice addition as well.
The last tumble stone is Rutilated quartz. The black needles are tourmaline.
I knew that but could not think of the name. I was at the gem show in Denver all day today and saw a few pieces like this
Be cool to pay a visit just for the history tour. Thanks Klesh for you're videos.
Been watching awhile, don't say much. Thank you for the chill content.
We dressed up our fire apparatus with gold leaf, very delicate stuff to work with
I am a rookie by far and I learn every time I stop by... Thanx for your time brothah!
Enjoyable video. Might need to take a trip myself.
Love the 1349 shirt. One of my favorite bands !!!
I hope that one day soon my wife and I will get a chance to go to Argo mine
Seems like a nice bag for the grandkids to have fun with..
Looks like a fun place to explore reminds me of Jerome Arizona right up the highway from me ….thanks for the video.
Great video!
I love Idaho springs! I used to go there to kayak every summer and never thought to go check out the mines. Awesome video thank
Looks like a great place for a school field trip

You should!
Your the man and next month I will join your group lol i cant this month but you save me so so much money thanks
When I lived in Golden years ago I remember panning there remember lots of garnets
Can’t beat a bit of gold fever lol cool video fella 👍
That gold definitly went through a stamp or hammer mill. Thanks klesh
Damn straight I watched it all & Nice new outro there. Cheers mate!
This is the one mine in the area that we didn't make it to when we were out there. Hopefully next time. The tours are very interesting. Thank you Shane for your videos!
At 12:30, that mineral is tourmalated quartz or quartz with tourmaline crystals inside. Just thought you would want to know

Looks like the rocks you buy in souvenir stores in the little burlap bags.
Klesh I used to work for them! I sent them a link to your video best of luck!!
I've stopped in Idaho Springs on vacation in the past. Tommyknockers has some nice craft brews. I never stopped for the mine tour though.
I also load mine. I use a small rock crusher. It makes your gold really flat. And yes crushed quarts looks like really white play sand.
I like to check out that mine 👍🏼 great video ✌🏼
Super cool I definitely would like to see what the tour was all about.
Looked like quite a good bag for kids.
Your vids are badass brotha
42% ;) What a fun Video Shane.

Smash that Like👍, like they smashed that gold! 🤓
Good job Shane! Love the on location integration and the setting of that old mine yells back to legend and lore 👍

I’m only 2h 42m from Idaho Springs. I’m adding it to my “Places to see” list
I’m guessing .30 in gold ❤ I was off by 5.07 🥴

👍
I went there a few years back and they had run out of paydirt. Sad day. Haven't been back to Colorado since unfortunately
Hey Shane! My wife and I are watching your 50 states of Treasure hunting and we can’t find our home state. Ohio! Did u forget to visit the heart of America? There’s treasure everywhere here. Our sidewalks are made of gold!
I have not made it to Ohio yet but it is definitely on my list
Cool I'm from Ohio too look forward to seeing a video
Looks pretty "manufactured" fun beginner stuff probably
Klesh. I just ordered a bag of paydirt crumbs. I would hate to open a bag with a bunch of extra gold in it. 😂
Which do you prefer for gemstone bags......... polished or un-polished in their natural state?
Definitely rough and unpolished
We smash around 5 tiny pickers in a hydraulic press, toss it in some dirt and sell it you. Grew up right next door. Was teaching people to pan as an employee there at 14 years old.
Could the flat flakes be from them crushing up the ore maybe I k ow you said it looked like play sand but just a thought
I said it may flat be from a stamp mill or a hammer
I like the look of that black/tan rock. Doubt it's valuable, but it does look neat.
I'd say they flatten it out so it looks bigger to tourists
That black "gemstone" with the crystals in it looks like snowflake obsidian
Possible that's all crushed ore. Though free mill gold is usually jagged. Those flat pieces are pretty suspect lol.
Did I see Kevin's book in there?
What is a good beginner sluice, cost to function
I like dream mats and VDR Vortex mats
What analyzer do you use for gold purity and other metal content?
At home I use an acid test. If I am looking for exact numbers I borrow an XRF spectrometer from the jewelry store
Is it a hardrick mine?, if so its either ball mill ir stamp mill gold, im supprised you didnt investigate more.
Would have been nice to have heard how much gold that mine produced when in operation. Seems like you would have mentioned that.
Not sure, but a quick google search would certainly answer that question
Where does your love for Norwegian Black Metal stem from? I see your 1349 shirt. Beautiful area at that mine!
I'm a fan of all types of music but extreme music is definitely the most interesting because it keeps my attention the most. Almost Everything else puts me to sleep

That looks like gold shot hammered flat, and it might even be an alloy. I'd check the purity.
Did she say what movie is shooting there? And how long have you used the same $ store strainer?
Same kitchen strainer as always, been trusty for years! Yeah they did say but can't remember the name
Flat gold. Could be from a stamp mill which pounds the ore. Other possibility is that from the lode, this gold was smashed flat by rocks to that shape as it is relatively soft.
Did I see a christmas tree lol
It's flat because it came out of a stamp mill . It's not placer . It's hard rock. That's my guess anyway
Klesh, can chalk rivers contain gold?
sure especially if the geology upstream has a history of gold mining
@@Klesh there's next to no information on anything in this particular area. Most areas here it goes soft soil, thick sticky clay, rich orange sand/silt, mixed gravels then more clay.... I'm struggling to gain much information
@@CapraObscura i'd say your best bet is to check the legality of Prospecting in that area and then go try some test pans
Honestly, it kind of looks like flattened gold shot.
I'm not certain, but I think you missed a flake!

I think you should do a tour of the Phoenix Gold mine up there... I heard a first grader found a gold nugget a while back 😁
These videos are getting boring bring back bucket 🪣 ones not a fan of extended videos seen them before
This is neither, it's just a new GPAH episode
👍
