Wonderful period piece. The Footage of the AC 1 Sentinel in action is priceless. One of the unsung technological feats of the war era, Sentinel was a home built tank whose design climbed several supposedly impossible technical obstacles. Too right!
Great Stuff!! Pig Iron Bob & Tom Brothel Keeper Blamey!! One Bren Carrier was sporting a Lewis Gun, The Sentinel had a rare Aussie claim to Fame with the FIRST fully cast turret also saw a rare Dorchester or two in there!
I think the man shaking hands at 03:01:32 may be Captain Gordon Fletcher, VX104094 who at that time was with C.M.A. Branch. He later (Sept 42) transferred to D.A.F.V.P.
Interesting footage. Is the armoured car appearing at 1:14, 1:27, 1:59 and elsewhere a variant of the Australian S1 Scout Car (of which there are two still in existance in Queensland) or is it a different vehicle entirely?
The Sentinel might not have been the best design around, and it may never have even seen service, but I'd say it was more than adequate for our needs. The late model mounting a 17 Pounder would've been just overkill against Japanese tanks.

1:10 Former PM Menzies at the start of WW2 but in opposition here and later after WW2 Menzies was PM from 1949-1965.
RGMenzies of 'The Brisbane Line'....
That first shot of a Sentinel looks suspiciously like it has a dummy turret.
Must have been for the AC2 with the 3.7 inch I would think

It's a Rover armoured car.

Major General Beavis! No sign of Brigader General Butthead.
