Haha!!!!!! I was totally wondering why or if one day it would be possibly for a travel trailer to carry a midbunk...... and it’s here! Haha! Like magic! Super cool! Thanks for the video!
I like the floor plan on this one. I just wish the bottom bunk was a fold out couch of some sort. I think that would allow for more use in that space when not sleeping. I also think a free standing table and chairs would be a better option in this model. Maybe include two extra chairs you could move to the back wall where that shelf is mounted. That or throw in two light weight recliners like I have seen in Toy Haulers.
On that note -- are the little text bits I drop at the bottom becoming too much? I feel like they're good info... but I worry I've gone too far with them in my last few videos.
Haylett RV - I think they’re fine as long as it’s not blocking the focus of the shot at the time. I’d always rather get more info than less. And I can always pause the video if it’s a lot at once. And I really like the inset pics of things like couches folded out into beds.
When you sent me the link of this type of RV, I wasn't "thrilled" with the layout, but the video makes everything seem better. For me the only things I would do if I could, is lose the back window, add three feet to have a small half bath and washer and dryer hook up. This is a RV that can house a lot of people with the couch, dinette and bunks, imagine up to eight people sharing on bath. It is not ideal.
Extended the RV is really not an option considering it's already 37ft. There are other private bunk models in travel trailers with a 1/2 bath off a rear bunkhouse however. Though, in doing so you're robbing Peter to Pay Paul by reducing the size of the kitchen slide accordingly.
Good job with these layouts! I'd like to see a narrow set of middle bunks on the new Winnebago fifth wheels. Chaparral pretty much got it right. I just love Coachmen for the Azdel also. Well done guys!
I totally enjoy viewing/shopping with you because you cover all the little and big details which helps deciding which home I'm going to finance. This is it. This is the type of layout I love. Have a question. Can you get a washer dryer set up in here? If not, do you have another home that has that?
Though this is a larger model it is the entirely wrong segment of the business for washer/dryer prep. There is currently no brand at all building a model like this in a similar category with W/D prep. Some brands like Highland Range's ultralite/light series offer a combo W/D prep in SOME models, but they don't build anything like this at all. Only things like destination trailers would offer a similar layout AND W/D prep currently. I also highly recommend against modifying an RV to add a washer/dryer as the resale on them is awful afterwards.
Absolutely love this layout, size and easy tow ability for most pick ups. Not a huge fan of having to buy a super duty truck purely to tow an RV when 95% of the time a HD truck is overkill. Extended camping trips 3 weeks+ definitely revealed that a washer/dryer would be EXTREMELY convenient. My question is how does installing the hookup option hurt resale? I've checked out the Highland Ridge Light bunkhouse and their hookup you lose the entire master hanging closet leaving only the two tiny side closets
Again, this RV is not set up for a washer/dryer. The Highland 275RLS you mentioned gives you the choice between expanded bedroom storage or normal closets + washer/dryer. Trying to put a washer/dryer in an RV this size is a case of a square peg in a round hole. It's never going to feel 100% ideal or comfortable. The smaller the RV the greater you feel the sacrifice of space required for a W/D.
@@aztreyful Are you saying that a half ton pickup can pull this? We're first time buyers and I'm not 100% sure what my truck can pull. Just curious. Thanks
@@joshuashelton6387 Not all 1/2 tons, but the properly equipped half ton with an HD Anti-sway/leveling hitch. Longer wheelbase (such as a longer bed) would be ideal to help manage sway. Basically, rather than a half-ton it would be what I call a "2/3 Ton" pickup lol
I feel the need to comment here. First, let me say how happy I am that a couple manufacturers are offering mid bunk TTs. For the past couple years, every time I watch a video on a mid bunk 5th wheel I find myself yelling at my computer screen, "Why won't SOMEONE make a mid bunk TT??". Unfortunately, both have really missed the mark here. Lets face it, the great part of the mid bunk fifth wheels is that they have a bunk room AND a great living area. On both this Coachmen and the Passport (based on the one, very short video I can find on the Passport 33MB) there is no more room in the living area than any of the rear bunkhouse trailers (and less bunkroom). There needs to be more seating in the living area here. At least the Coachmen was smart enough to include some closet space in the bunk room. C'mon Passport .... you put the kids closet space out in the hallway? So my kids have to go back and forth from the bedroom to the hallway to get dressed??? I don't want to come off as all negative here, but hopefully the manufacturers make some changes. I'd love to see a company like Open Range design a mid bunk TT... hopefully others jump into this market. Until someone comes up with more living area, I don't see any point to these mid bunk TTs (unfortunately).
I think everyone's feedback is great & thank you for sharing it, but I do feel this is a case where seeing it in person may make all the difference. I've walked both. The Passport has more room in the living area, and I presume the short video you've spotted on the Passport is likely the video I actually captured from the prototype. And that's the point - it was a video of a prototype. A lot of changes are taking place. We have some coming in now. Perhaps seeing the final product or walking thru one personally will make a difference for you. I see things like that happen with frequency.
Hi Liz! Thx for watching Unfortunately this model is no longer in production. Closest thing out there now from what I can see is something like this one th-cam.com/video/7hIYIQJ9Nz0/w-d-xo.html
This camper is AWESOME! We are looking for a travel trailer for full time living. 2 boys, my husband and I. My husband would be working full time from the trailer and needs an office...I'm looking at trailer specifically with the separate bunk room that we can add a desk to...maybe affix the monitor to the wall and have a drop down desk for the laptop, keyboard and mouse? Is there room where the tv hookup is in the bunk room for that do you think? Is there a different model that you would suggest over this one to meet our families needs? Thanks so much, awesome video!!
Small and mid-bunk don't play well together. By the time you allow space for a bunk area, bedroom, and living area they just don't come any smaller really. MFGs have attempted to make smaller versions here and there. All were met with dismal failure due to the painful lack of living/storage space.
Just curious. Why don’t other manufacturers use Azdel? Coachmens aren’t drastically more expensive than other, similar units. So I wouldn’t think that cost would be prohibitive if it’s so much better.
Azdel is roughly 7x more expensive vs. common wood sheet paneling. That adds up *quickly* when you start considering the number of RVs built each year. The other major challenge is supply -- there just isn't that much Azdel to go around especially now that the auto industry is starting to gobble the stuff up.
Haylett RV - So my next question is: What is Coachmen cutting corners on to keep costs down then? Or are other manufacturers just gouging customers? Here’s why I ask that. You have similar models from other brands like Keystone and Highland Ridge that are similar size and they are all within a couple thousand dollars. Some of that is due to different extras or amenities so the difference in cost can’t be all due to Azdel. Even if it were, that doesn’t seem to add up to 7x more money. Please understand, I’m not trying to be a jerk here. I’m truly trying to understand this. And BTW, your link to the price for this vid takes you to the 5th wheel mid-bunks.
* You don't realize how little it takes to affect price points. RV Designers get excited literally over *two dollars.* And your phrasing indicates you don't understand the "7x additional cost" refers to only the lauan panels below the fiberglass skin -- not the entire RV. Perhaps that change of perspective will help. * Link in the description just zips to all mid bunks. It's specific enough to be a short list. You don't look that closely ;)
Haylett RV - Went I hit the link it only shows 5th wheel midbunks and not this model so I was assuming that it was just 5th wheels. That’s what I get for assuming...😁 I get that the 7x only refers to the difference in Azdel vs standard wall insulation. What I’m trying to say is that seems like it should either make more of a difference in price (meaning Coachmen should be a lot more expensive than the competitors which they aren’t) or it should be worth it for the competition to use it (limited supply not withstanding). For example, if it costs $2,000 for the insulation for a “standard” unit then it would be $14,000 for Azdel. That should be a $12,000 difference in price. Or maybe it’s relatively minor cost to insulate (so a small overall difference in cost ie. $100 to $700) so it’s a minor cost per unit (and yes I get that minor per unit can mean millions to the manufacturers when total production is figured). And I figured at the very least a manufacturer like Highland Ridge would be all over using Azdel if it was significantly better since they seem to be willing to go outside the box and want their units so well insulated. Of course, they already kick butt with cold weather insulation so I guess the old “if it ain’t broke...” comes into play. Hard to fault them for being one of the best insulated rigs already. Anyway, I feel like I am beating a dead horse doing this online. I really do appreciate your responsiveness to these online questions and I love your videos. Keep up the great work!!
Coachmen uses Azdel as an offset in a sense. The Azdel allows them to generally use a lighter duty frame compared to other trailers of the same size. The main focus is weight savings, though they likely have a lesser cost along the way. Things like that can help offset SOME of the cost of Azdel, but again not EVERY mfg can jump into the bandwagon at once. Highland spends their money very differently. Double stainless sink, deeper slide out (on main slides), exclusive carpetless system, industry-first whisper A/C in an ultralite, more investment into an insulation package, etc. Every brand spends their money in different ways.
Really like this layout. But the hitch weight is throwing me off. Under 8klbs dry, but a hitch weight of 1,100lbs? Is that 1/2 ton towable? What other mid bunk models are out there to compare? I’ve only seen the passport and this one. Your videos are a great help!
There really aren't many. Due to the length of this rig you're going to likely need a larger vehicle than the weight would imply. Such a vehicle will likely have a higher payload rating. Plus, weight distribution kits will transfer roughly 30% of your tongue weight back to the axles of the trailer to assist with load leveling. As always, every trailer/truck/hitch combo needs to be evaluated individually.
The table-thing tacked onto the back wall looks like a, "...let's just put something there for the sake of something being there" kind-of--thing. Otherwise, I do like the trailer. (I'm a table and chairs kind of guy, not a booth dude, but whatever.) What I would really like to see, someday, is a way to have a rear entry in a travel trailer with a floorplan that is otherwise a lot like this. I do enjoy your videos! Keep them coming!
Thx for the clarification. THIS would certainly be the model to do it, but historically the few brands that have attempted anything like this have met *disastrous* results. I don't disagree about the rear wall table/shelf, but at the same time there's not much you can do there. This thing is already 37ft. They couldnt push back the rear wall to add anything. Perhaps some decorative wall panel would've looked better, but wouldn't have added any additional function.
I agree on the back wall. I think a set of simple, light weight recliners like you see in toy haulers would be a good idea back there. Then move that little shelf down a bit. Another option would be to have a free standing table and chairs that included two extra chair you could move over to that little shelf on the back wall.
That's not really an option as there'd be no where to put them when the slide is closed. Even small euro recliners would be sketchy. This is an easy thing to tackle aftermarket with some smaller chairs.
There is not. Additional seating would require either lengthening the coach to at least the 40ft mark or stealing severely from the kitchen. It's possible, but it would be a floorplan with serious problems if built.
Haylett RV thanks for the quick reply! We have a cottage on Coldwater Lake, I’ll stop by this summer. We have two adults, a tween boy and maybe a friend couple, sounds like 1/2 ton and trailer (limited seating) vs full ton and fifth wheel that we need to think about.
Of course. A car with an LT trim package would carry a low price than a similar car with an LX trim package. The question isn't if it's less expensive -- rather the question is are you okay with the loss of features required to reduce the price? None of it is essential stuff, but typically in these larger models folks have higher expectations.
Mid Bunks can be a lot of things, but short isn't one of them. By the time you have a living room slide, bunk room slide, bathroom, and bedroom she just has to be pretty long by default. Cougar recent condensed down the concept a bit as seen here bit.ly/2ONvQB0 That is just about as "small" as a mid bunk can get.
I love this floor plan except for one item that I would change...the closet in the mid bunk area should have sliding doors. It appears you cannot open the far closet door at all. Otherwise I love this layout and decor.
Very cool floorplan!! Basically a fifth wheel and a travel trailer merging.. good stuff.. will be curious to see the pricing.. Also curious what the bunk wt ratings are? Thanks for all the great info Josh!
Not a bad price at all!! Hoping to get into a bunkhouse sometime soon.. currently have an '11 Rockwood 2604.. Have a 3 and 5 yr old.. need to upgrade.. just have to convince the CFO of the household.. :-).
Great to hear. If we were to do business with your dealership, how would we go about handling warranty issues? Can we get repairs done at any maintenance facility? We are first time RV buyers and are pretty much clueless about the whole process
Yeah any licensed facility can assist you even if they're not a dealer of your product. Some places may require you to do some of the footwork of getting a pre-authorization from the manufacturer however. It can vary from place to place.
Off the top of my head roughly 4ft x 5ft. Any of the fellas would be happy to get you a hard measurement however. We deliver BTW so no worries if you're not local. We have RVs staring at the Pacific Ocean -- distance is no big deal for us!
You mentioned and moved past the TCL Roku TV without mentioning the best part. The TV has Roku built into it. That means all your streaming services are built in. Things like Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, Pandora, HBO, and more. If you have wifi at the campground you have your services (If that's important to you). This could mean no need to pack all those DVDs and Blue Ray. More storage for other things. www.roku.com/roku-tv
Haylett RV you do a great job. It just came to mind while watching. Keep up the good work. Hope to buy from you once we grow out of our Rockwood Premier 2716G. You might have to deliver to MA though.
Maybe I'm the only one thinking this, but these videos have become a little more frustrating with the way they're labeled. Haylett has gone to these GIANT model numbers on the thumbnail and it completely covers what the trailer looks like. You could always get a visual on it and know "too big" or "that might work," but now you can't even see it. There's a huge model number, which means nothing to us viewers, covering the camper and you have to start the video to even get a glimpse of it. This viewer wouldn't mind if y'all stopped doing that. :-)
Truly appreciate the feedback. I've felt the same myself, but our views have increased since doing this. I'll keep an ear out for more feedback. Whipping up a quick template is on my list of things to do... but dangit if that list doesn't just keep growing every day.
Haylett RV - I respectfully disagree. If I’m looking for a review and/or video of a specific model this makes it easier to find. And I usually am either looking for a specific model (so this helps) or I’m just randomly watching videos to see the latest and greatest (so this doesn’t matter one way or the other). I think you should keep it IMHO...
Holy cow guys. Is this actually a place on the internet where adults can have a conversation in which they do not necessarily agree on something WITHOUT it turning into some Friday Night Facebook Fight? LOL Hats off to both of you. Thx for the feedback. Going to try to find some sort of happy medium... *someday*
Haylett RV - You are giving a great service for potential buyers and while I’m not currently ready to buy the very least I can do is offer my opinion to help you out. And it’s just that. My opinion as is the other viewer’s. And neither one is necessarily correct. In fact, you are the one to judge based on how the videos help out your dealership.
I can see and understand both sides of this. The title of the video has the model which should be simple enough to use for those looking for something specific. I'm that crazy guy that watches ALL video's you post. Yes, even the video's on used models.

I like it, is this floorplan available in a non-liberty model that would have a smaller price tag?
Of course. A car with an LT trim package would carry a low price than a similar car with an LX trim package. The question isn't if it's less expensive -- rather the question is are you okay with the loss of features required to reduce the price? None of it is essential stuff, but typically in these larger models folks have higher expectations.
why does this have to be so long? This is literally the perfect setup
Mid Bunks can be a lot of things, but short isn't one of them. By the time you have a living room slide, bunk room slide, bathroom, and bedroom she just has to be pretty long by default. Cougar recent condensed down the concept a bit as seen here bit.ly/2ONvQB0
That is just about as "small" as a mid bunk can get.
I love this floor plan except for one item that I would change...the closet in the mid bunk area should have sliding doors. It appears you cannot open the far closet door at all. Otherwise I love this layout and decor.
The closet is very easily accessible, but that is a really solid idea we'll certainly pass along!
Very cool floorplan!! Basically a fifth wheel and a travel trailer merging.. good stuff.. will be curious to see the pricing.. Also curious what the bunk wt ratings are? Thanks for all the great info Josh!
Just updated pricing. btw -- had the listings live before the manager was done in the office!
Not a bad price at all!! Hoping to get into a bunkhouse sometime soon.. currently have an '11 Rockwood 2604.. Have a 3 and 5 yr old.. need to upgrade.. just have to convince the CFO of the household.. :-).
CFO lol :)
Totally with you on that one!
Can you deliver to SC? I have not been able to find a dealer with this within 500 miles of me!
We certainly can. This is a regular part of what we do daily. Simply give our guys a call and they can get you a shipping estimate quickly and easily!
Great video. Nice an open floor plan
A party couch would be better in the living room in my opinion. At least the option for one instead of the couch/dinette.
What are the dimensions of the middle bunks? Thanks.

Good info of course, but had more to cover inside the RV. Thx for the add-on here!
If only most parks didn't such garbage interwebs ;)
Haylett RV you do a great job. It just came to mind while watching. Keep up the good work. Hope to buy from you once we grow out of our Rockwood Premier 2716G. You might have to deliver to MA though.
Haylett Home Delivery -- At your service!
❤❤❤😁 Savage...love it
How much is it please
You can compare the features & pricing of this and a similar model from Keystone's Passport series here: bit.ly/2koESnn
LOL
Hats off to both of you.
OHHH AHHHHH OOOOOHHHHHH AHHHHHH LOL I know I'm a pain just ask my hubby lmao!
Thats a lot of talking
