      So, did you drive it with the sway bar after you reinstalled it? Any issues, did you keep it that way or did it not work. I was talking with DJM tech service and they recommended to move the whole bracket about an inch forward and drill new holes.

    What degree of shims did you use?

    Pull the slapper bar out and it gives you about another inch of drop. I just recently lowered mine too. You’ll need new u bolts and new leaf spring center bolts also

    Did you have any issues with your rear sway bar links bolting up? I figure since the sway bar is bolted to the rear end and the rear end is now 4” higher (closer) to the frame it would make the sway bar links too long.

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem at all with sway bar what’s so ever. I would recommend getting smaller bump stops & possibly even shock extenders for your shocks if their not drop shocks

  • @phildepeal6845

    I have an 87 had the same sway bar problem but my skid plate was a different and I couldn't flip it because the mounts that held sway bar wouldn't fit simply slid plat forward an inch drill new holes I got plenty of clearance I still had to flip it to the top and flipped the link side-to-side but there's lots of spring clearance

    Nice truck man. I can not seem to get the bolt at 6:20 out. Hit it with a dead blow a bunch, won't budge. Any ideas?

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dumb question. But you did remove the nut from the stud right? If yes then the bolt shaft prob has a ton of rust build up keeping it from sliding out. I’d soak it with some penetrating fluid then heat it up with a torch to loosen some of the rust then take the hammer to it while it’s hot.

    • @TheLawyerMechanic
      @TheLawyerMechanic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JJBanuelos Yeah, got the spring retainer nut and the lower nut off. Hit it with the propane torch and some PB Blaster. I'll let if sit overnight. Thanks for the reply!

    • @TheLawyerMechanic
      @TheLawyerMechanic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For anyone who might run into this problem in the future. I ended up getting one side off by putting a 25in breaker bar on the bolt to get it spinning, than I was able to smack it out with a dead blow. The other side I had to use a big 1/2in drive impact for a few minutes because the breaker bar wouldn't do the trick. Once it's spinning it will come out.

    How much clearance do you have between the rear axle and frame. I did a rear axle flip kit from DJ M and now my frame sits on the axle

    • @JJBanuelos
      @JJBanuelos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had about 3in from axle to bump stops. Then I lowered the rear more by removing 2 leaf coils out which dropped it about another 1in. I removed bump stop & bracket & still have about 3-4inch between axle & frame.
