It's 135 kilometres from Nanaimo on a completely paved road now going the Hwy 18 route, so it's doable, but I know what you mean. I'm always hesitant about asking you and Randy to make the trip because it's usually so hit or miss at Renfrew and once you're there it's not like you can drive 10 minutes to another fishing spot if it's dead there. This year was remarkably good, however, and the fish are generally big. It's about 170 kilometres for me to get from Sooke to Qualicum Beach, but the driving time is only about 20 minutes longer than it would be for you to get to Port Renfrew and I didn't make any day trips up to Nile Creek or my favourite spring beach this year. Instead, I stayed overnight a few times for pink fishing and three nights for springs in early September. I just don't have the jam to spend five or six hours fishing and five or six hours driving any more. This getting old sucks, but it's better than the alternative! Ha! We'll have to work something out next year Gil. Take care.
Long drive for us but we must try your favourite beach one day

Keep your eye on the 10T bill!
Will do!
How did you make out down at the Spit this season? I didn't get anything worth keeping.
Hi there. What fish jig are you using? Thanks
What's ur main line then ur leader
My main line is 10-pound test braid. I use either Sufix 832 or Power Pro. I use a four- to five-foot Sufix flourocarbon 15-pound test leader.

In this particular video it is a 2 1/2-inch holographic green Buzz Bomb.
