Thank you for covering this. I inherited a small herd of miniature horses from an elderly ailing relative, mostly black and white paints. The stallion was a really nice blue roan paint--a true blue roan with no muling. Anyway, I had later purchased a b/w paint mare that partial blue eyes, and someone suggested I have my stud tested just in case, because her markings suggested she might be part overo, making her a possible carrier. I had both her and my stallion (since the breeder that he came from had some overos in his herd) and luckily neither was positive. Sadly though, there are some unethical breeders who are willing to take the chance of having a lethal white foal, in their quest for the wildest markings. So, buyer beware! Thank you doctor.
