There are darker, heavier, and eviler sounding doom bands, but in my opinion Patrick Walker succeeds them all in writing some of the most sorrowful, soul-crushing music with downright haunting lyrics. Although I like "Watching from a Distance" most, I do hope 40 Watt Sun continues on for longer than Warning lasted.
I'm not crazy about the distortion here -- a little too fuzzy for me -- but the overall effect is doom. It's personal, introspective, heavy, meaningful, long, and it just works. Thanks for posting.
How to pose for a doom picture: Look listlessly at a downward angle, hold an depressingly empty beer cup, and order funeral flowers on your iPhone respectively.
+bout certainly not, the band deserves more opportunities and though i'm sure its not their intentions to make a lot of money of their albums, they really deserve to

Why isnt this on Spotify? The best record the band has done.
And what about buying the album and really being helpful to them?
@@RAFAELBOSA where? it's not on bandcamp nor their website
It was on Spotify but they took it off idk why. Masterpiece

Not sure how I got here from Clutch but I'm loving it.
OMG... i discovered this song just today...Is amazing.
I think if the universe made a sound it would sound just like this.
One of my favorite songs... so heavy... so delicate... just perfect.
i love this band
Love this band.

Cool take on doom metal. Very introspective

574 likes??? That's it?? This band is grossly underrated.
super
Same.
Definitly this band does not have a visibility that they deserve
maybe it's better this way?

sharpvon l i like listening to low key stuff
+bout ok? Pretty stupid if you ask me

Very similar to Warning, cept for the fuzz. Both great doom
Willian Dias if I am not wrong, the lead vocalist for Warning is also the one for 40 Watt Sun
Green Spleen Submarine, You are correct. Patrick Walker is the singer and guitarist for both bands
@@garrettgodc At least Garrett has been listening to the two bands. Very similar and heart wrenching.
@@dallasgrant5123 both are soul-crushing in all the right ways
la raja
I find The river having a similar vibe.
Haha :) Well Agalloch has awesome Lyrics and music too...But i Still prefer to WoY, in music and Lyrics; David Gold was a living god.
Agalloch being one of my favs
When it comes to Lyrics Woods of Ypres has no Contest.
WOY is another kind of music, I mean this band is slower than WOY. They remind me to Jesu, antimatter...
I'm tempted to agree just based on your profile, but I think Agalloch surpasses Woods in lyrics and music. Still, they do write some good lyrics.

how? i enjoy WoY but they're so much more boring lyric-wise.
