Hotel? We all know James, Hop, and Luke have been sleeping in those cages behind him.
Reviewing a new gun in the immigrant holding area is crazy work

These product reps don't seem to know much about the products they're presenting. This is across the board, not just S&W.
Like it’s your literal job to know your product and talk about it. Why is this so common at these shows? These reps gotta do better, it’s so painful to watch people not know what they’re selling
Its like this every year, with nine out of ten videos. I love S&W, especially M&Ps, but I hoped that they would do better.
What was really disappointing to me was that he clearly couldn’t even speak to how it may or may not apply to USPSA, IDPA, etc. Competition is the main reason heavy weight pistols are important in the marketplace.
DEI hires
It’s because they hire ppl with degrees who try to sound smart not ppl who genuinely love their company/ products. the enthusiasm is never there it’s just a paycheck to them

😂 LMAAOOOO😂😂
The comp looks like an afterthought.
EXATLY what I said!
Because that comp was never designed for guns with sloped muzzles, lmao. It only looks correct on something with a flat nose.
It wasn't made for the gun, it's just a Strike Industries comp anyone can put on a threaded barrel.
It looks like absolute shit lmao
@@tneper for that much $ they should have done better
“We’ve got this high-end Performance Center race gun; should we design a comp that seamlessly matches its lines?”
“Just slap a Strike Industries on it.”
Seriously lame.
Based
That thing looks terrible. Great call, this is the only explanation.
"should we appeal to the people who care about form over function because a race gun isn't a fashion show?"
"or she we try to make the gun look "pretty" for the morons who can't conceive of changing a muzzle device?"
@ What if I told you a good looking comp could be just as effective? That wouldn’t be form over function, it’d be form and function. Kind of like those curvy slide serrations that line up with the serrations on the frame. You know, the frame serrations that serve no function aside from aesthetics.

@@triviszla1536 ah thanks!
1700$ is absolutely insane. No way does it perform 3x better than a standard M&P, and the comp sends it straight to Open in every major shooting sport.
Yeah there's a used M&P 2.0 at my local FFL right now for $389 with the original box, night sights, and three mags. For 99% of purposes, that's a much better buy, in my mind...
I'm guessing this is for IDPA Carry Optics, so cost not out of line.
It's about how much to manufacture, set up machines, r&d....not about being 3x better. Maybe took 3x more to make and invest in.
I spent $1250 total for a standard 2.0 that I then put an apex trigger in, ported the barrel, and put an agency arms comp on. So $1700 MSRP (they’ll hit the street for about $1500) is pretty good.
Cutting steel is more expensive and yes the sales volume is way lower.
Thanks. I'd get Steel PDP
PDP's are some of the best factory guns you can buy.
Or the Rival-S.
100%, This looks like something Walther put together from the parts bin of 12 different models.
If you need something that can be made in just about any caliber you want, S&W is a pretty good option.
Someone needs to mail a USPSA rulebook to Smith & Wesson, since they appear to have no idea what competitors can actually use
Everyone asking for a 5 inch steel frame for CO:
S&W: here’s one thats only legal in open and was designed with TEMU (strike industries)
Also he said the weight in pounds (for some reason) but I believe it’s 36oz for anyone keeping score
The threaded barrel comp is truly where they went wrong. Totally destroyed the market for anybody in california And its just stupid. Everyone wanted the 5 inch comped slide instead of detachable threaded one. And the blue colors are very childish. nobody wants a cheesy pearly cartoony color ruining their serious gun.
Yep, they really dropped the ball. Hopefully they do better with the 5” model, but it’s not gonna fix the lighter weight unless they have another frame which I doubt
Nailed it, lmao
44 ounces is what I read yesterday.
36.96oz on S&W's website, maybe it's 44 when loaded idk
Who does S&W have working in the design department making choices on aesthetics- Flavor Flav? “People want a steel frame M&P? That’s cool, but what if when we make it, we make everything as garish as possible? Yeah, that’ll be fantastic.”
Seriously, just make a duty-style gun. A plain old 4.5” or 5” gun with a threaded barrel and optic cut. Let people dress it up however they want. I’m one of the folks who want a steel frame M&P, but I don’t want one that makes me look like a cyberpunk pimp.
Man, a steel framed S&W is a big deal. Maybe they could add a double action trigger and an external swinging hammer ignition system, with a slide mounted decocker. Call it the 5906 or something. That would be cool.
😏
The great 3rd generation pistols!!!!
Nice one 😆.
Definitely buying one of these as soon as a normal looking Steel frame 5" model drops. Would love a steel shield plus also.
Isn’t the CSX an all steel gun the size of the shield plus?

“I wish I had more questions”
Dave was sweatin already 🤣 Good job Dave!
Guy: Hi!! I’m here to tell you about the new m&p HD.
JR: What does HD stand for?
Guy:🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷
Right? I would’ve thought Heavy Duty but what do I know.
"Yeah, so this is the first of its kind; it's our fifth iteration..."
It appears there are very few people in the industry that actually compete.
@ 0.38 JR - "what does HD stand for?"
SW - 🤷🏻
Me - 🤯🤣🤣
"What is different about this? Against than everything out there?"
Proceeds to explain the trigger shoe is aluminum. 😅😮
Exactly. It’s basically a “2.0 trigger but made of aluminum so it’s more durable.” You know, to help eliminate all those times your polymer trigger just snaps right in half. 🤦🏻♂️ Gimmick gun.
@nmbr1robb lol. I love the 2.0 but I think he missed the mark on answering that question.
I'll keep to a cz75 ❤
Would be great if SW sent someone that knew anything about the weapon
The last spec series was $999. $1700 is too rich for my blood, but it seems neat. I'm sure it's for somebody.
It’ll end up probably $1200. Still too much for that IMO.
@@deebee3174 $1200 is still too much. Maybe $1200 and they throw in everything else you need in a nice kit....I dunno...maybe.
Dave's like a cop that takes his job too seriously..
Thank you! would love to see you do a comparison with other Smith & Weeson M&P 2.0 models so we can learn the subtle differences between them. competition, metal Carry Comp, etc.
t
Has this released yet or not? Sites say sold out but I didn’t see it go live.
I have the Metal spec series green and it's the best gun I've ever owned! I'm going to buy another one just like it, and this one! I've always been a Springfield fan boy, but my metal and my Shield Performance Center 4" puts all of them to shame!!!
Oh I have questions...
1. will it be offered in a standard version.
2. Is the aluminum trigger shoe compatible with the 2.0 metal aluminum version.
3. Will it be (eventually) offered in other calibers like 45acp 🤞🙏.
Hopefully they come out with one without a comp and magwell for a bit cheaper. I’d like a steel M&P
You could get last years or the year before. Both metal options with the threaded barrel.
@@timotheifyThose are aluminum alloy. People want STEEL because the weight helps the balance of the gun and soaks up recoil. It's generally been proven that aluminum frames can hurt MORE than polymer because the weight difference is negligible and polymer frames flex under recoil, which reduces the impact on the users hand. Aluminum frames don't flex as much, transferring more energy to the hand. Aluminum frames also don't last as long as steel does. It's the worst of all worlds
HD=hideously done
are the core plates still plastic or are they metal too? Can I get metal plates and trigger for a stock 2.0?
I’m taking an HD No. 2 while watching this,
Lmaoooo exqctly 😂
That is the curviest flat faced trigger I have ever seen...Will be interesting to see what these go for street price.
“Flat Face trigger” means the face of the trigger where the pad of your finger rests is flat.
It does not mean that the trigger shoe is a straight trigger shoe.
@@peternorth1721 Er, what? No part of this trigger is flat. It's a constant curve.
@@skepticalbadger definitely not a constant curve. The bottom 60ish% is pretty straight if look at the closeups.
Pass at that price point
Everyone looking at this for USPSA is wondering how much they can sell the “upgraded” barrel, magwell and comp for in order to then buy an APEX trigger and APEX barrel.
For the price I’m still leaning towards the Canik Rival S but I want 40s&w or 10mm, I’ll be waiting patiently, tired of the no love for larger caliber pistols attitude these days by companies, at least S&W released that all metal 40 last year and it’s a beauty
It looks great except for the “add-on looking” comp that just threads on. Wish they did theirs like Shadow Systems or an integral comp. Plus I still hate the dumb 1/2 circle cut on top of the barrel hood.
Strike Industries Mass Driver compensator is attached via the threaded end of the recoil spring guide rod, not a threaded barrel. It should be relatively easy to remove if desired for competition where compensators are not necessary.
@ are you saying S&W put a Strike Ind. comp on their gun? 😲
That price is insane!
Any chance of just getting the frame?
S&W with the dommy mommy backdrop. Interesting marketing strategy
Nice!
Does steel cost as much as gold these days?
Blunt questions for manufacturers: why is the slide catch different from the polymer M&P 2.0s (i.e., no silly extra parts that make it difficult to use)?
I don’t know but I hate how smith just changes the slide catch and safety from gun to gun year to year. I have bought 2 holsters already for my 5 inch safety model and neither of them fit. About to give up and sell the thing.
Will the trigger be as good as Walthers ? Don't like the look of the compensator. Does is still come with plastic plates?
Mags are also over 141 1/4 and the comp makes it an open class gun . Definitely interesting.
The comp looks like you just screwed on any generic comp.
yep!
th how many pound is the triger
When will it be offered in 10mm
Yet another gun that proves S&W doesnt understand competitive shooting divisions. This should never have had a comp or magwell from the factory.
HD is heavy duty, haven't you guys ever bought a truck😅
Does it come in 10mm?
For real that will sell like hot cakes since all the new 10mm from other companies are exploding now from the polymer frame
@SFGiantsfan9797 exactly I want it to shoot Hot hand loads reliably
Wish smith kept the fishscale serrations a la OG M&P, E-series, etc. So much cooler.
1:20 just like my ex
HD, Heavy Duty? Looks good.
So they can’t make the front end/comp looks a bit more “integrated” and “design as part of the” gun?
Hahahahahahaha. Oh my god! He almost couldn’t say the price he was so embarrassed. Holy hell. They are absolutely smoking some heavy duty ganja at S&W. . 😂
Dad advice for the future will be telling your kids to never buy a firearm that comes with a challenge coin.
Another 9mm pistol, how exciting!
No matter how much we bring awareness every shotshow, diversification of calibers is like dei in the new administration. They think we want a thousand guns that shoot the same bullet.
what do you want ? 120mm ?
@notchipotle Your bad attempt at a joke is just like the mediocrity in the firearms industry.
@@MassiveVictoriesI mean they are going to go with what the market wants. More people shoot and want 9mm. There is a recent surge in 10mm but nobody is going to use 10mm in competition which is what this is for.
@lbwar15 The market isn't monolithic. Nor is it smart. The market is more like a flock of goats eating the grass you provide. Do you think the industry cares about the market? They want to do whatever is easiest. I'd love to see someone be creative, and it works as well. I'm sure that day is coming.
Would rather hear from someone that was apart of the development and actually knows more than a few bullet points.
that price for another m&p is crazy
So i bought a base model m&p 2.0 about two years ago when they were doing the $75 rebate. It was like $375 so with the rebate it was around $300. I bought a apex threaded gunsmith fit barrel and apex trigger. Installed a legion precision 2 port comp, dpm recoil reduction system, and holosun 507 comp rds. All in im under a grand.
I also have the metal carry comp. The carry comp can't even come close to that $300 modified base model m&p 2.0 and they cost about the same amount of money. Do yourself a favor and buy a base model m&p and upgrade it yourself and save a lot of money and end up with a better gun.
high density is perfect because the blue makes it look like osmium, the densest natural and stable element.
Did he just say Strike Industries?
Can they make a steel frame 10mm since that’s what 10mm handles better with
Wild price for a M&P
Trying to buy this gun anyone know where I can get it please
KYGUNCO
I have a m&p2.0 competitor.. not sure why this is worth $600 more.
Amatuer Competition shooters furiously typing in their credit card numbers
Will standard M&P M2.0 17-round magazines fit this pistol or is it like the M&P M2.0 Competitor that requires its own magazine due to the mag well?
Mag well on the Competitor is removable
@@jonathoncapaul2854 Excellent. I thought it was glued on but looks like it's held in place with a set screw.
Should have done a herrington comp
Kind of feel bad for that s&w rep. "Whats better?"
Well almost nothing except its finally steel like everyone wanted years ago
Be cool if they made this in other calibers that the steel frame would make sense for (40 S&W, 45acp)
Would be nice around $1200.
Is this gun worth it? Might ask for it as a gift. And will be my one and only handgun.
Would like to see a metal frame version of the 10mm, preferaably w/o the comp.
Hilariously bad. Hmm, here is a super version of our existing metal frame gun. Lets slap a strike Industries part on it. 1700!
Why nobody talking about the 3.6 model 😢
Only Yankee 😊
the gun is will be in Open for uspsa as it sits.
This thing looks like part of the set design from the movie Alien.
Take that cringe compensator off and drop the price a bit and it would be a pretty kool buy
I’m a diehard Smith & Wesson guy. I started competing with them and I still do. But this gun is an absolute joke. Dumb AF! This is not going to fit in the IDPA box with that stupid compensator on the end. Because it has a compensator it won’t work in USPSA Limited Optics either. It would work an open division, but no one in the right mind would dare do that. All they needed to do was put that steel frame on the 4.25 metal carry comp gun and it would’ve been an absolute winner in ID PA CO division. Or put the same steel grip on the already existing 5 inch competitor model and it would work in several divisions in USPSA including limited optics. I’m not bashing here, I’m a frustrated owner of many, many many of their guns that I’ve had to modify for many years to compete with at a high-level. I’m so disappointed in them right now. And don’t even get me started on the price point. It’s not even close to reality.
Someone at Smith & Wesson needs to get fired over this.
They should have made it 10mm where the steel would really help with recoil
10mm doesnt sell.

@@SFGiantsfan9797 stop being hipster with firearms. 10mm is a niche round. Nobody buys that shit.

"I actually dont know" 😂 ill just buy 3 more PSA products
I would say the HD stands for Hot Damn. Sadly this will be unavailable in IL.
Not something i would buy but i think its a step in the right direction. Now if they would lose that comp, magwell, and go a bit more basic on the bells and whistles and offering that same steel frame at a lower price point, that would be nice for production and carry optics divisions
The rep really didn't know what the HD meant in the name of this gun?
I literally bought a Glock to build it like this, why wouldn’t I just buy this?
$1700 is diabolical.
HD - High Density 😂 Heavy Duty 😅 Hot Damn 😂 Hands Down 😂 Hip Dinger 😂
Can someone at S&W please fit a decent Comp to these guns the faxon was good but it's supposed to be a performance center gun at least get someone to fit the comps to the slide so there is no giant Gap between!
I see the new future pistol for John wick 5
As most everyone else has been saying in this thread... This guy has absolutely zero clue what he is representing!!
We can blame hunter who shoots M&Ps for bullying smith 😂😂
They missed the mark with this one. This had potential to be a great compet pistol but they made it the same size as a standard M&P. Give it a 5.25 barrel with a full length dustcover and put a really good trigger in it and you have something that can compete against the Shadow 2
I'd be more interested in seeing the compact 4" & 3.6" models.
A steel frame, threaded barrel, and compensator-this is a dream for those who love performance and durability in a 9mm.
They just need to put out a DA/SA steel or aluminum frame gun
Was excited until I heard the price, $1700 is ridiculous. I don't know who is this targeted too. A novice competition shooter is not going to spend this much and a more experienced would rather pay $1700 for another more commonly used 9mm
Its for the local fudd to flex on his flat range buddies. No competition shooter is bringing this into open class. Lol.
