I’ve played all of the borderlands games as they came out, and I don’t think they are as good as some people say. A step above bulletstorm or something but it kept going past the ps3 generation. But borderlands 3 was at least the first borderlands that it felt like I was playing a somewhat modern first person shooter for it’s time. Like fallout 3, borderlands 1 and 2 were years and years behind other games of their time that felt much better to shoot in. Don’t take me wrong, it’s still slow, janky and a little bad, but way way better than borderlands 2 in gunplay and moving around the world. Only good thing I’m saying the game has

Bl3 was the first game i ever pre-ordered. I got the super deluxe for 100 bucks back when it was first announced. The day it dropped i was more excited than any other game ive ever played, and... almost immediately disappointed. At release the game was an amazing shooter, but it didn't live up to my hype. What got me more than anything tho was the fact they went with the story progress from the tale tell game. I was lost throughout the whole story because the game never did a recap. For people new to the series that probably wouldn't matter, but as someone who was invested in bl2 and bl1 it somewhat ruined the experience. I could have played the tale tell, sure, but i think if an amazing movie came out, made a book to continue the story, then made the second movie a continuation of the book, some fans would be a little upset because not everyone wants to read a book to enjoy a movie.
There are a few creators still praising BL3 and producing new content even though the game has been out 5 years. I watch this channel and Spartan game zone because the videos include a lot of info you don't find on other channels. I don't want to watch some bloke doing 193 runs for a god roll Harold, that's so boring, I want to know which gun is gonna kill everything. I also want to know the science behind the game like damage rates, best artifacts, how damage is calculated, how a sheild can affect your build and all the other stuff like that. Don't get me started on modifiers, I stopped playing until mayhem 11 came in, the modifiers were so annoying as to make the game borderline unplayable.
i feel like i don’t care that much for the antagonists in this game BUT the gameplay and weapons are so awesome it really enjoy the game! BL1 will always be my favorite but BL3 is an awesome game! honestly i haven’t been disappointed once by a BL game
I deeply enjoy this games GAMEPLAY but not the story. That's something they can't just fix. Unfortunately the story is what makes up the initial experience of borderlands before you get to the fun end game. I am a simple mfker to please, and even wonderlands end game was fun for me, so I am happy to see 3 get the praise it deserves for the 2nd half of the experience. Pre should also get this same praise, but it doesn't unfortunately. Similar issues and even more so, was abandoned just like wonderlands. Happy that 3 never was abandoned.
Fl4k's Purple never got fixed. Promised P2P Networker return didn't happen and some items that went from hotfix to patch lost their hotfix. That was during DLC6. Also no source for DLC quest rewards for Crazy Earl Machine. They did a great job, but there are still few things that wouldn't hurt for final update
I came back to the game a couple of weeks ago. I originally played on Xbox One, but a Steam sale for the game made it $5 for the ultimate edition so why not. Love the game again so far. I get the fact that not everyone likes the Diablo 3 style of legendary items everywhere which I don't really mind much because of all the different combinations of them you can get now. HOWEVER, fuck you arms race, I just want my eternal flame class mod for moze lol
It was better in the earlier days of its life tbh. At one point all the vault hunters were balanced or overpowered. They all were usable. Not anymore. Now everyone is except amara. And for amara to be good you need a very specific build. She feels about as limited as gaige. They also went nerf happy before the games life ended. Either that or they allowed good weapons to get powercrept and didn’t buff them to compensate for higher mayhem levels. Leaving only like 20 or 25 good weapons. The only great thing about borderlands 3 was gameplay (which only gets you so far. Especially if that’s all you have) and the first 4 dlcs. Other than those 2 things, game was a hot steaming pile of shit. Well maybe that’s being too harsh. It was mid at best I would say overall. The main story, bugs, weapon nerfs, and character nerfs ruined the game for me. That and they only added 2 takedowns and 1 “raid” Edit: almost forgot about the maliwan takedown and the hemovorous fight. Honestly loved those. Too bad there wasn’t more of them. Would’ve considered the game to be good tbh if there was
Amara isn't usable in endgame without a specific build? Not really true unless your definition of "usable" is being able to one shot every boss which has always required a special build to achieve. Maybe she's worse than other characters (haven't maxed out any of them except Amara), but M11 isn't nearly as punishing as OP10, so it's not a big deal.
@@hashimiyazib are you that much of a sped that you don’t know what usable means in this context? If you have to mag dump a normal enemy multiple times in order to kill them cause the character in question is that weak then that’s not usable. And that’s how amara is with most of her builds with the exception of her melee build. And no one can say to me “hurr durr then your builds are bad” cause I copied builds from TH-camrs who apparently could destroy with those builds. But coincidentally when I use those exact builds I don’t get the same results. It’s very fascinating. So yes. She’s useless unless you use her melee build. She doesn’t kill shit near as fast otherwise. You could use a phasezerker build but it’s only good for mobbing and nothing else.
@@grimreaper63151 Many older builds are based on mechanics that were patched/nerfed, so you have to be careful about that. Also, Phaseslam is useless at M11 to your credit. I have had plenty of success personally using Astral Projection skills to do big damage which synergizes really well with Remnant. Obviously Ties That Bind is effective as well, and Phaseflare can work too (with a melee build, to be fair...). You should be going for anointments that synergize with your build (+250% dmg for 10 seconds after using Phasecast is a good one for example). You can get a Crit and/or Hail with a good anointment to start out strong and farm eridium (Slaughtershaft gives 500 from the boss at any difficulty) to get rerolls for later weapons. This is a pain in the ass since the rerolls cost too much, but it's very easy in terms of difficulty. Having lifesteal from something is a godsend whether that be melee or elemental damage lifesteal from Amara's skill trees or something else. Melee Amara w/ Face-Puncher is the easiest type of build to understand, and it's definitely the most OP for bosses once you get all the right items, but it's not your only option. Yes, your options for Amara are increasingly limited as you increase the difficulty, but that's just how games work. You can't just put skill points into random things and expect to shred raid bosses. One big caveat I will point out is that DLCs help a lot with build variety. If you're on PC and don't have all the DLC, you can easily pirate it on to your legitimate copy of the base game to have access to some good items. This is a real criticism which is unfortunately ignored by the more vocal obsessive players who act like buying every DLC is the default option. Locking a whole skill tree behind a paywall is ridiculous. If you are genuinely using the exact same builds that other people get away with on the same version of the game, maybe you are just bad. If that's the case, there is no shame in turning the difficulty down from M10/11. It's your game to play how you want.
@ConstantCanadian oh okay that's where I got confused thanks love the video btw it's great seeing how much this game has grown and changed since release
while the end game is more bearable it still doesn't fix how god awful the story is. as im watching this bl3 crashes AGAIN! i mean it is alot less then launch but f randy. you forgot to mention how it was unplayable for 8 months on console.
i picked up the game 2 months ago, now im grinding endgame content. its very very fun. My only problem with it (im a gearbox newb, so im allowed to say this) are the droprates. Ik that bl3 has been one of the more generous games in the series but HOLY SHIT some of the dropchances, if u want something specific, are actually disheartening, being the perfectionist i am. :) Anyways thx for the Video, was a good watch. As constructive criticism id like to add that it would feel better if the screen in between the talking sections are be shorter, or left out entirely, it kinda disrupted the flow for me. Cheers
@@ConstantCanadian that. my stochastics skills are shit, so i asked GPT yeserday for the odds to farm a godroll IB victory rush. Dunno if it was correct since GPT tends do be equally shit in maths, BUT it was well over a lifetime xDD
I use a shlooter and the science machine upgrade for increasing drop rates and I find it becomes slightly easier to get that god roll weapon. I used this method farming for a re-volter with 3 x absorb and ass and got after 5 or 6 runs. I used the shlooter farming the twins, for a monarch I believe, farming for a ghast call and a Harold, it makes life a lot easier but still took over 30 runs to get a decent Harold.
Great video, but 90% of borderlands user don’t care about most of the things here. They don’t create a billion weapons so you chase done 1 with the perfect roll. That’s why issues about farming, rerolling, dedicated drops. I think that’s what many morphed it into. It became to different games to two groups. One open world, side quests story driving group, that takes the Randomness of weapon finding and the other is the more hardcore, specific builds player that spends hours finding a weapon. Both are great but too often the hardcore tries to define borderlands as something it’s only half as. If I took the time to make 1 million guns shields coms. Etc…. I wouldn’t want you all using the same 5 or 10…
I highly disagree, people that don't care about those things are casual gamers that will put 30 to 40 hours into the game to finish the story in normal mode (which is basically the tutorial of the game) and then never touch the game again. But those who stick with the game, chase achievements, and want to tackle the endgame content, they have to care about those things, and they're the ones putting hundreds of hours into the game. So the kind of players that define the player base are the ones who actually play the game.
@@Gash_Kobeth People who put the most time into the game caring about certain things doesn't mean they define the player base. Most players will probably just do normal mode with one character as you said, but there are still plenty of people out there who progress all the way to the endgame (especially in BL3 where you can skip to M11 pretty much right away if you understand how the skills work). Among that group of players, I doubt many of them are so offended that they can't easily get a godroll on their Plasma Coil or whatever. Personally, I think BL3 goes a little overboard with the part combinations to inflate the number of guns, but you can still get perfectly usable if not overpowered endgame gear without perfect parts or even good ones. It's just that the obsessive players who want everything to be perfectly matched to their playstyle are vastly overrepresented on the internet complaining all the time.
@@hashimiyazib While it's true that parts are less important in BL3, it doesn't mean that dedicated farming is not important because if you want the gear necessary for your build, you need a reliable source to obtain it in the first place. It's the reason I didn't buy Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, because there's no dedicated farming and getting hold of any specific gear is a nightmare, let alone one with perfect parts. The chase for rare loot and god roll farming is also a big part of what players do in endgame, that's the reason the community wants pearls back so much (even though I don't personally really care for pearls except if there is an actual reason for their existence beyond simply having a higher rarity than legendary), but the point is there's not any reason to play the endgame if you can't farm for specific gear, nobody wants to grind 100 levels of chaos chambers just for the sake of it, and even if they do, what then ?
Well most of them were new content and balancing patches. It also shows the amount of work and effort they put into making sure the game was the best it could possibly be.
Yup! I quit BL3 in 2019 after beating the game but came back in 2024 (after buying the ultimate edition) and have been unbelievably addicted to it for months. I wish the content creators that still shit on it would go back and try the game again, they talk about BL3 as if it was the same game. I still have some gripes with the game but it’s in a much better place. My biggest issues are bugs / crashes and the sheer amount of trash legendaries. That’s about it.
A lot of creators just love to crap all over Borderlands 3 for not being Borderlands 2 with better graphics. Like you said, the game's still got issues, but it is simply not the same as it was 5 years ago
No, I fully say with the gameplay it was the best Boarderlands game we ever had.. The gameplay was great, the design of the game, the pacing, and the story was horrible and i wont act like its not. Over all it is a lackluster game... Gameplay makes part of the whole. You like the game that fine.. but the game isnt great. The design was gotten better with each update but the pacing and the story couldnt be.... Postive positive hurts games if not more constant negativity.. You have to be honest. 3 was the beginning on the Franchise whining.. The new tales was terrible from what came from before, TinyTinnas got abandoned quick because it wasnt good, and theres not one of you brain dead enough to take up for the movie... The Franchise is in a bad place and it looks like the future hinges on 4.... Give legit NEGATIVE AND POSTIVE feedback.. What they did good and what they did bad.... Otherwise 4 gonna be a failure.. Coddling Devs dont help... Everything they touch isnt gold and they do lose perspective.... So get them back to relativity respectfully

Only good thing I’m saying the game has
Loved BL1
Obsessed with BL2
Played BL3 on launch for a few months but then lost interest anyway fast forward to like 2 months ago 😂
Picked it up again cause it was on special with all the dlc and man I’m having a blast and I can’t stop playing
P.S no comment on pre sequel
@@IsaacPritchard-t6z it really is crazy how far the game has come over the last 5 years
Bl3 was the first game i ever pre-ordered.
I just started playing 3 over the summer and i love it. Some of the characters are annoying but the gameplay is so good
There are a few creators still praising BL3 and producing new content even though the game has been out 5 years.
BL1 will always be my favorite but BL3 is an awesome game! honestly i haven’t been disappointed once by a BL game
do you have a lootlemon link for the amara build you used in the video
@@nyarlatosep ill be dropping the build video next week
@@ConstantCanadian thank you!
On the bright side, tps got dedicated drops prior to 2k Australia shutting down
Fl4k's Purple never got fixed. Promised P2P Networker return didn't happen and some items that went from hotfix to patch lost their hotfix. That was during DLC6. Also no source for DLC quest rewards for Crazy Earl Machine.
They did a great job, but there are still few things that wouldn't hurt for final update
I'm still holding out hope for a new update before BL4 launches
BL3 also still suffers from a memory leak issue when you save and quit too many times.
@@kvetoslavzeleny1764 rebalands fixes all that with the exception of p2p
That and they only added 2 takedowns and 1 “raid”
Edit: almost forgot about the maliwan takedown and the hemovorous fight. Honestly loved those. Too bad there wasn’t more of them. Would’ve considered the game to be good tbh if there was
BL3 was horrible on launch, especially in terms of performance.
@ I’m talking specifically guns. And maybe a month or 2 after launch in the case of the vault hunters
I didnt even know boosting to 72 was a thing lmao

borderlands 3 factorial
i picked up the game 2 months ago, now im grinding endgame content. its very very fun. My only problem with it (im a gearbox newb, so im allowed to say this) are the droprates. Ik that bl3 has been one of the more generous games in the series but HOLY SHIT some of the dropchances, if u want something specific, are actually disheartening, being the perfectionist i am. :)
Anyways thx for the Video, was a good watch. As constructive criticism id like to add that it would feel better if the screen in between the talking sections are be shorter, or left out entirely, it kinda disrupted the flow for me.
Cheers
That's the part everyone ALWAYS leaves out when talking drop rates. Legendaries drop a lot, but specific odds for 1 drop are insane
I just started BL3 and I am super happy about this video to learn where the game came from :-)
Not sure if 100 patches makes the game good. If anything, It shows this game had no business being sold to us when it did.
Best gameplay but the story and writing is the worst
Highly recommend the UCP for all the BL games and the set of mods Joltz used on his newest FL4K Reborn make the game that much better.
@frederickdawson2253 not sure what part of this video you consider coddling the devs, though I have been vocal about the positives AND the negatives of this game.
