This is from Kate's recital at Chopin and his Europe Festival in August this year (2021). This nocturne is so underrated and Kate's performance is so special that I wanted to post this video of her playing just this piece, to spread more awareness. Hope you enjoy it!
You might also enjoy listening to Benno Moiseiwitch playing this one an its sister in E major. His perforamance of the Fourth Ballade is also just a wonder to listen to.
I was craving to listen to this piece, and wasn't happy with Rubestain, but omg, I just love her performance...such a beautiful interpretation of Chopin
She has an outstandingly beautiful touch and there's hardly any phrases I could imagine to be played more compelling. Her recording of the Op. 58 Sonata is my absolute favorite to this day 🙂

Happy birthday Kate !!! may 23 (2024) we love you so much. !!! we will want Kate to play a lot of Chopin music from now on . I'm looking forward to it .
I perceive this as more passionate and less thoughtful. It also works in such a slow tempo. It may also depend on the mood of the moment, it would be interesting whether it would be different on another day. On the other hand, there are a lot of modulations in it (in fact going through all 24 keys!) and it needs some time to digest them all, so definitely there is something to be learned from this interpretation. At the same time, it is also a kind of mini-barcarole, and so maybe a tiny little bit more flowing motion would be even nicer (?).
Sorry, there was a reply to your question but I accidentally deleted it! My apologies! I believe it said that she recently performed 2 concerts in Singapore and will perform in Yokohama soon.
Toutes ces attitudes et mimiques sont insupportables. Cela devient gênant. Mieux vaut couper l'image. Pour le son Rubinstein reste insurpassable à mon avis.

I agree with you.
Thank you. I did. I speaks to my soul.
My god this is beautiful, I have never heard a better performance of this nocturne. Slower than most, but much nicer.

I like nearly all of Chopin's nocturnes, also this one, at least when so amazingly performed as here by young master Kate Liu 🙂
So special, this nocturne , not my favourite, but now I listen to it , so beautifull. Thanks Kate.
a little girl.s voice..
She is so much higher than any of prize winners of last Chopin competition!
So true...
she should have won ....chopin competition
So true! The wrong Liu walked away with the first prize.
No, she's as great as Bruce. They just have quite opposite playstyles. Learn how to enjoy both! It's worth it.
So sublime and dreamlike

Omg yes. I sort of agree with all you have said, especially wrt the character and tempo.
👍❤️❤️❤️👍
profound
Wonder how is she doing now?

Każdy nokturn F.Chopina jest genialny!Ta interpretacja raczej bardziej wyraża osobowość K.Liu,niż F.Chopina.Jest to moje osobiste zdanie.

Legato fingering in the first section is really hard for small hands. She plays it with much fluidity and expression.

I guess you don’t understand what is ENJOY.Actually it is a wonderful performance.
