I have been watching many of his presentations and am fairly impressed with the organization and presentation of the data. Very well done. Easy to absorb and comprehend.

Excellent video. I just ran into this 1.5 weeks ago when trying to share a 175 Meg video with a QR code for several people. It would stop playing at times and I could not tell if it was actually downloaded to their phones. This gave me some good tips on security and sharing even though I am not fond of using Google drive and such. Great video! Thanks

Great video! I was trying to solve this exact issue with slow quickconnect uploads. When I found that my 3 google workspace accounts pool together in 15Tb online storage, I decided to back up my entire NAS to the cloud, solving any slow uploads and sharing issues while also having an off-site backup.

THANK YOU!!!!!!! A couple of months ago, I needed to download a PowerPoint file for a presentation I was about to do. The file was a few gigs and it was going to take almost an hour. I had to talk my wife through uploading it to Dropbox. Was able to get it downloaded 10 minutes before my presentation.
I just configured the port-forwarding on my router and it took 3 minutes!! My upload speeds weren't fast but they weren't that bad, either. Just had fiber installed last week and now I have 2 gigs upload. I never would have figured this out.

This video is awesome. However, I'm using Synology Drive Client and I can barely access files from the NAS. The speed is excruciatingly slow. What can I do? Any tips and tricks? Change in settings? The internet speed is quite good so definitely not the issue.

Never know about port fw before. This is greatly help me since I'm studying aboard right now and my 4k video never successfully upload. I remote back to set up my network and its work great for my synology photo. It's slow but 200x faster that usual.

Really great video. been following you since purchasing my DS920+ and have most of your suggestions in the video applied. Any chance of a tutorial on setting up a webpage on the nas. I followed a few. However, they all stop at actually creating the page. I'd like to do one for my friends' videos.

Thanks for another great video! Regarding your point on dual NAS setups, I bought a Synology RT6600ax a while back and In trying to connect it, I could not replace my ISP’s crappy router. It had no option to set it up in bridge mode. I eventually set up a DMZ on the ISP router and got things to work. Can I assume there is no bottleneck doing this? I don’t get dual NAT problems like I did trying unsuccessfully to bridge them. I Assume there are no security risks either. Thoughts on this approach regarding speed issues?

another great video, do you have another video that walks us through how to set up a synology and using a owned domain name to skip the quick connect all together (if that's the fastest way to connect)? I'd be very interested in seeing what the best practice and steps are when setting up using my own domain name for accessing Drive, Photos, Surveillance station eliminating quick connect.

So im mostly using drive app and is very slow. I just moved to new apt. but didnt know that every apt. has limited speed to 500/100. Basicly when i try to download 100MB video clip on my iphone , that takes like 10min minimum and that is nooot okay. So what should i use instead of synology drive when im away from home network. If the upload speed is 100Mb/s that is basicly 12MB per second and 100MB footage should be downloaded in 10-15Sec, or?

I like your videos. They are very complet M. Rex. I would like to know what you think about creating an intro that presents the differents "chapters" of your videos and maybe a visual support for your differents videos and explanations? I think it could help people with more and more attention span problem like myself. I am fairly teksavvy and I have a hard time getting my focus on your video as everything is static in the frame and I have to focus only on your words. Just a suggestion here. You go so deep in your videos it's awsome! It just can get so complex to follow. I find Crosstalk solutions and Tom Lawrence's videos much easier on my brain for not throwing so much information all at once and taking time to explain each thing they talk about instead of rushing into talking about every possibility briefly. It just gets heavy to follow in my own opinion. I don't know what you think about it :)

My problem is, I have 2 Synology's. DS1817 connects via L2TP back to my unifi network at home and then I use snapshot replication from my DS1821+ to DS1817+ and it doesn't go any faster than 1MB in both directions even though I have 1gb on both ends. I know I can use s2s but the 2nd nas isn't at my house and it's behind a network I don't mange. ALL SERVICES are slow but if i connect from the same network as the DS1817+ and vpn from a windows box or something, it goes 150. Not sure what's happening here and why all services on the DS1817 is so slow. All it does it snapshot replication lol

Does it make a big difference to use 5400rpm vs 7200rpm HDDs? Especially for those NAS coming with 2x 2.5gbe ports that can be linked aggregated to 5gbe. Love your videos!

I have what's called "Dual-Stack Lite", so I'm behind a CGNAT for IPv4, but I have a proper public IPv6. So I'm basically renting a small vserver with a public IPv4 from a hoster company for 3€ a month to run 6tunnel, which accepts incoming IPv4 connections and tunnels them through an IPv6 connection to my home systems. It's not pretty but it works and is fast enough. I do have a traffic quota of 80TB per month, but that's more than enough for my needs

For me it's trying to get more then 3-4 fps yes it's really really slow on my Synology NAS iv tried caching with 2TB 970 Pro and 64GB of ram doesn't help even use a super custom windows 10 OS windows AME.
The delay is sometimes 2-3 mins for right clicking something inside the VM.

    • @SpaceRexWill
      @SpaceRexWill  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

For VM’s you need RAM especially windows!

@@SpaceRexWill yeah dedicated 32GB to just that. I was going to ask how people do the core/thread allocation as I have the DS1621+ Synology rep didn't really give a clear answer to what a good setting should be I'd set 6 Threads 3 cores as it seems backwards.
Thank you for this though these lil tweaks makes it almost full speed when I remote into the network 🙏just need to fix the core assignment as I only use 1 VM.
