If you wanted to roll your canvas with the artwork facing out, my professors in art school always recommended glassine paper over the piece to prevent anything from sticking or getting scratched 😊

Hi im also an artist that use large canvas and paint it directly on the wall unstretched, when i first started, the canvas usually get some loose parts after stretched, so before i actually stretch it with the pliers, i spray some water on the back side, leave it for 5 hours or more, and then start stretching.

I randomly clicked your video to see what you were talking about, and love it. You are absolutely right... COST! And you're very lucky to get those free canvases, I envy that LOL! @missyelious beat me to it, I too absolutely love your energy and enthusiasm, and I wanted to say I LOVE YOU lol. I used to live in Auburn, WA till I moved to MT almost 20 years ago and I'd have love to meet you. I love your video and art! I'm a beginner as far as painting, both brush and airbrush acrylic, about 5 months in, I used to draw when I was a kid. Yesterday I cut some frame pieces from my job (I get free leftover wood) to make two frames, and was going to put them together at home, but your idea to just staple them on plywood is awesome, so I'm gonna do that instead. I have access to lots of sidings used on wood sheds. Murals, yep, I have 3 finished murals on my home walls and began another one to do later. On one of them, I made a picture frame and stapled it around the painting, which has a clear stencil sheet covering (to look like glass), so it actually looks like a picture hanging on the wall. Just an idea I thought of doing for a mural, I've yet to see anyone do that lol. Anyways, thanks for your video and sharing your love and your answers! Keep on painting, you're doing awesome!

Rolling on the outside is standard practice in museums (protect with brown paper). Also, the wider the tube, the less chances of cracking. Last, if you can suspend it (a bar through the tube) rather than have it on the floor or standing, you are golden.

I love making my own canvases (really wish I have a wood saw in my house to build more), so the canvas roll question was super helpful.
For my style of canvas art, rolling it up would be a bad idea since I have a "pop-uo" style, so I have to store them up with the canvas, and finding ways to move them about (they aren't huge thankfully) is the main challenge. I'm thinking about having them in their own shipping boxes 🤔
