Hungarian Folk Tales: The Witch

The poor man’s three sons wanted to get married but their father allowed marrying only that boy who obtains the most beautiful flower, shawl and girl. The two older brothers had an easy job because they already had a beloved in the village but the youngest boy had to turn to an old hag for help. Nevertheless he managed to bring home the most beautiful flower and shawl and the hag changed into a pretty princess. They celebrated the wedding and the two other brothers could get married as well thanks to their younger brother.

The Hungarian Folktales stem from original folktale collections, every episode has its special authentic ornamentation. The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.
