That black NER engine looks fantastic, very smooth clean lines and the gold on the splashes realy caught my eye.

Amazing! Look at all those little trains and engines! This day must have kept the switchmen busy, no doubt.

This looks like a lot of fun! You're lucky to have something like this near you. I wish there was something like this nearby in the US.

Great video sir , just wanted to say the clip of the replica steam locomotive number 819 is really neat as I live here in the US Arkansas to be exact and here in my state we have a real steam locomotive that is from the former cotton belt railroad number 819 as well and it still runs on the rails after being restored sometime back in the 1980s I enjoy watching your videos thank you and have a great day

Very nice... It would be nice to have more live steam events here in the state's. Most are in the mid-west, west and southern area. Nice 10 hour drive if you want to ride on private built trains. Haven't been to one since I was stationed at Minwith Hill AB UK.

I did find it very relaxing and that car does look interesting. The first engine you show after you stopped talking looks like a Diesel powered type? is it?

    • @keithappleton
      @keithappleton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

I am not sure, it may be battery powered . . .

Good Morning Keith, Great Video. As you know I am on the western side of the pond and have a Winson Lyn Project that I am working on. I noticed two different LYN running at point 2.00 and 3.54. Would you happen to know the owners and if so can I send you an email to forward to them? I have the chassis up on air but have many questions.

Hi Charles, I can't help you with this one, but an Email to Phil at Blackgates Engineering may be useful as Phil is a member of the Wakefield club and probably knows who the owners are.

Mr. Appleton, at steam rallies like this where you might not be sure of the water supply. Does any one install strainer or filters to keep particles out of their water tanks? The closest steam rally is over 600 miles from where I live so I've never been able to attend one.

Mains tap water is fine - most particles (if any) are not really an issue with steam engines . . .

Was the Stanley Steamed Powered Car dangerous as far as having a boiler failure when not keeping enough water in the Boiler?
Love your videos. Any beginner, novice or well informed person in all aspects of Model Steam would benefit greatly by watching many of your videos.

    • @keithappleton

Not really as it is a Flash Steam type boiler without a large reservoir of boiling water in it . . .

I didn’t know that and I appreciate you answering my question. I do know that a High pressure Steam boiler explosion can be extremely destructive and quite dangerous, from reading about Steam Locomotive Boiler Explosions.

The thing that bothers me about this video, the only thing that does, is that there is a huge generational gap missing between the young and the old. No doubt too busy at home playing on a computer or some kind of handheld device.
If things don't start to turn around, these kinds of days could be 'a thing of the past' one day. :(

No coal smoke?!, emission regulations? Or fire safety? Whatever fuel was allowed the exhaust was invisible.
