I hear what you're saying, but that's life anywhere. Do Californians leave Cali because of earthquakes? God is always in control.
LIVED IN FLORIDA SINCE 1968 THIS IS THE FIRST STORM I'M RUNNING FROM. TAMPA BAY HERE
Grew up int the Florida Keys. We used to have Hurricane parties. It was tons of fun. This is a nightmare. What is going on? Something unusual.

Damn. Stay Safe.
I’m here in Tampa. We will be there for each other. We know the government ain’t coming to save us.
Feds? Definitely not. But State government is definitely more on the ball. Passed a whole convoy of electrical/bucket trucks on the road the other day, headed to get ready for the aftermath.
Correction the federal government aint coming for yall. The local and state will be if need be. I am in Jacksonville, our government is top tier. I use to work for the Sheriff’s office here in Jacksonville. We always send ppl to help other cities in Florida and near by states. Yall stay safe

I'm a Floridian Born and Raised. We now live in Central Florida. We have been blessed to not have any major damage. Yes, this is the norm. Everywhere you live its a norn there. So the only thing we can do is Pray, Prepare & Pray. Praying for everyone in the hurricanes path. 🙏
God h8 Floriduh
Lived in Marathon Key, Fl. my teenage years, nothing like island living. Was living in Homestead, Fl and I survived Andrew. Not going to lie it was the scariest thing I have ever been through. No power for almost a year, but it was a beautiful thing to see neighbors helping each other rebuild their homes. It was a sight to see all the men from the neighborhood all come together. You would see 7-8 guys on rooftops. Only costing materials.
That makes insurance companies nervous
People have short memory or something. I remember back in 2004-05 Florida got hit by 7 hurricanes (Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, Dennis, Katrina, Wilma) and two tropical storms in like 16 months. Yet even after that, people kept moving there in droves.
Not me by the 3 one I said I don't have the strength to board up again strange though Miami and Ft Lauderdale haven't been bad fir awhile Not complaining
I was in high school when that happened, I remember some of those names😮😮
You forgot to add Rita to your list. I used to live in Miami and 2005 hurricane season was crazy.
Why all Hurricane name after women’s names…meaning you need to run asap…lolz..

What these people are going to go through will be terrible, but it passes and they will get through it. I am in Stuart, FL and we had the same thing 20 years ago. We had a direct hit from Francis which stayed stationary for 24 hours. It chewed up my roof and I lost all the shingles and water was pouring in. All the interior ceilings collapsed while we were in the house with my three kids, the youngest was 1. They were all crammed into my closet. We were in the house 24 hours trapped while it fell around us. Then we couldn’t get out of the neighborhood for hours until we chainsawed through all the trees blocking us in. My wife’s parents lived 10 miles away and were fine so we went there. A week later Jean took the same trajectory and destroyed the rest of the house while we were at my in-laws. Their pool enclosure collapsed into the pool and I spent the next day pulling it out and chopping it up and getting it out of the pool. We were flooded in and couldn’t leave to the point there were fish swimming at the end of the driveway and in the flooded road. We had no power for 16 days. My sister in law and I took two bikes and put them in kayak s and we towed out of the neighborhood until we hit dry land and then rode the bikes the 10 miles to my house to see if it was still there. We eventually fixed it. FEMA and the government did nothing. Just had to fight with insurance and they dropped me the minute the house got fixed. It’s been 20 years and I haven’t had any damage since. It was surreal but it toughened me up. A lot of people in this country need some toughening up.
I’m here in Tampa stuck in traffic on interstate and haven’t moved in a hr people are scared crazy
Praying for everyone there, people outside of Florida care about y'all stay safe

Facts . All man made
“Y’all know my family don’t listen to meeeee” 😂😂😂 idk but after everything I been through with HELLene that cracked me up for some reason.
It's not just Florida, what about Tornadoes, Thunderstorms.
You can’t create a tornado. I’m getting tired of people who think that they are creating tornadoes or other disasters.
@@femaleKCRoyalsFanCreating weather is crazy to me.
I don't understand why architects haven't designed buildings to withstand hurricanes in that area. It CAN be done, it just take human effort.
The building in Miami are now able to withstand the hurricane itself. The codes were changed after Hurricane Andrew destroyed Homestead.
Now flooding is the bigger issue there when it comes to property damage.
The thing that is often not mentioned is that Hurricanes also spawn Tornadoes and those you can't really fortify whole communities for.
Helene is stated to have spawned 10 tornadoes in SC alone.
As stated on a storm information site:
"Individual storm clouds within hurricanes may spawn tornadoes as a hurricane makes landfall, with tornado production continuing, in some instances, for several days after landfall. Tornadoes are most likely to occur in a particular quadrant of a hurricane. Some research suggests that the preferred quadrant is the right-front quadrant relative to a hurricane’s direction of propagation, but other research suggests that the northeast quadrant is preferred for tornado production regardless of the hurricane’s propagation direction. Regardless, tornadoes typically form in the part of a hurricane where the vertical wind shear is largest. If a hurricane interacts with a front or it ingests air that is unstable, tornado production will become more favorable in those regions of the hurricane. Tornadoes typically form in the spiral rainbands of a hurricane, but tornadoes have also been observed in the eyewall. Some hurricanes may produce no tornadoes, while others develop several. In general, tornadoes associated with hurricanes are relatively weak and short lived, especially in comparison to those that occur over the Great Plains of the United States. Nonetheless, the effects of tornadoes, added to the effects of hurricane-force winds, can produce substantial damage."
what makes you think they haven't? now ALL of the buildings are not built to withstand hurricane force wind but either way that wont do anything for flooding and storm surge.
I don't know. Katrina moved a casino in Gulfport, MS to the other side of the road.
@@kbis2coldit’s the water not the winds. You cannot stop the force from the water when these hurricanes send 30 foot tidal surges.
because how else would people scam insurance companies
I'm praying for everyone safely.
The beautiful beaches are not worth the possibility of destruction and losing everything. I will just be going to vacation down there a few weeks a year.
I have no desire to live in florida anymore.
I feel the exact same way. Just tired at this point
Same, but I can't afford to move. It's messed. I wanted to leave last year.
I live in St Petersburg and are evacuating to Orlando. She’s absolutely right!
I lived in ST Pete for a year, went through just a tropical depression I'm so glad I came back north!!! Couldn't do this be all the time
Prayers for all my friends and colleagues there
All the homes in Florida are mostly ranch homes. In a 2 floor home, at least valuable items can be stored on the second floor to avoid floods due to hurricanes.
Everyone should evacuate NOW! The way they are talking about that storm is crazy
This is soo sad!😢
My mother was sweating the storm on Saturday when we first learned about Milton. But now she's much more relaxed. We did stock up on some supplies and bought a propane camping stove. I've lived through the Big 4 of 2004 Hurricanes that hit Florida that year, with Charley being the worst, arguably. God is in control. We are ready.
Super sad, these people are really going through it.
In the Florida State Guard assisting in the area. A lot of these people already lost everything from Helene, Milton is projected to be a Cat 5, the fact it’s hitting here directly is insane
I live a FL and these storms ain't no JOKE! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Don't forget to vote!! This mess needs to stop. Our lives Depends on it!
Vote what? I’m curious who you think voting for will stop this, bc as usual people like to be delusional. These Rich corporations, the Repubs, Trump, and everyone denying climate change and preventing steps to help curb climate change are the issue. I’m so tired of ppl always trying to blame everyone else instead of looking in the mirror.
Last night I had a dream about Hurricane Milton. In my dream the hurricane started hooking North as it approached Florida's gulf coast. It then started hugging the gulf coast of Florida and headed straight North hitting the cities of North Florida very hard (Tallahassee and other cities).
I don't know if this will happen but when I woke up from this dream I felt very shaken. I told my mom about this dream and asked her to warn our relatives in North Florida to also prepare for this possible outcome. Right now no one is expecting this hurricane to hook North but if it does no one in North Florida is expecting this scenario and they haven't been preparing for this hurricane.
If you live in North Florida you need to be watching this hurricane closely and possibly leave Florida as well. If this hurricane does hook North and you live in North Florida you need to leave quickly. If you can't leave then find a concrete commercial building (or concrete hotel) to take shelter in. You need to go to the second or third floor of the building (not the top floor where the wind could peel away the roof of the building). Take your emergency supplies with you to this commercial building (water, food, flashlights, radio, etc). Take this monster very seriously!
I am in Jacksonville, been back here since 09. Love it here, key is dont live in flood zones and near the river or beach. I am 30 min weat of the beach and 16 min from the river. Haven't flooded in my area only no power and treea falling. Dont listen to all the hurricane talk frol ppl who hasn't lived here.
Bingo Anton. I said that about the voting when the storm was heading our way in Georgia and I heard it was going all the way up to North Carolina and I told my older adult children this is so we cannot vote. Everybody thought I was crazy but I think it’s showing clear now what’s going on. My one daughter lives and move to South Carolina, which is a big red state and they were also affected with Helene. And now here comes this big big five categories storm heading towards Florida all the way across. DeSantis, you got them mad and they’re coming for you.
Really!!😂😂😂you can’t be that stupid
Maybe the red states pissed off God 🤷🏾
We DO have DeSantis so that's a real plus. And we practice every year do everyone knows what to do. We are really weary. This is number 4 in 13 months
Thank you I have been saying this the government control this weather you cannot tell me that this is intentional. She wants to win that bad. And why is it happening in the red states
@@Wickwatcher Or maybe they made the government mad 🤷🏻♀️
I couldn't imagine what they are going through. I hope my sister is ok. St Augustine fl.
I hope the people are leaving, I live further north of Florida where people don’t talk about much, Pensacola Fl, counting blessing.
I’m in Florida ain’t leaving you just have to prepare be safe people.
Floridian’s are super resilient humans. Literally we prepare for disasters every year whether they come or not and pivot in regard to those disasters within hours depending on what’s happening. All day long my ring doorbell app community messages have been going off with people offering to help put up shutters, give away extra gas cans etc. to prepare for Milton because that’s who Floridian’s are. If there’s a zombie apocalypse, we’re more ready than the rest of y’all for sure!
I thought about the voting thing as well. Told some friends and family about it here in NC and of course.. they called me a conspiracy theorist smh. I wasn’t as badly affected but I can only imagine being in that situation. Voting would be the last thing on my mind. I wonder if the hurricane hit a blue state how fast they would be to not only send help but set up mobile voting centers for them. This is sad.
Well the Gov of the red states should set that up since they control the voting venues
Well just remember to ask yourself. If I was stuck on a mountain surrounded by water with nothing who would come and get me ...MAGAs or "progressives " ( so called)
I’ve lived in Florida since my folks moved us here in 1972, when I was only 8 yrs, and have seen and been through many hurricanes throughout the years. This one though is highly unusual, I can’t ever remember one starting in the west Gulf of Mexico and heading east to Florida’s west coast, it’s unheard of.
It looks like it could be catastrophic for the bay area and anywhere within 100 miles south or north of that depending exactly where Milton comes ashore. The highways out of the area are backing up already and moving very slowly, a standstill in spots. My wife is currently northbound on US19 as the bridges are a traffic nightmare leading from St Pete to Tampa and the storm is still 2 days out. After Helene everyone is taking this storm seriously, as even if it should weaken, there is still a high probability of serious flood and wind damage.
As a claims adjuster seeing this first hand is one of the saddest storms I've seen since hurricane Harvey
this is what i don't understand.. I live in the Port Arthur, TX are where it flood's, tropical storms, and hurricanes hit that area every single year some years the storms would go to other area's but it's still in that area, I understand these people concerns and complaints but the people that live in that area you have to keep in the back of your head, that you live in a hurricane area, so you have to be ready to pack up and leave at a drop of a dime, my question is, why would you move down there??
Lived in Jacksonville. Moved to Washington state best decision i made

I bet most of the people affected will not prepare after this is over.
I go backpacking, you don't need much to be prepared.
Me and my family did the best preparation we could for this one we moved out of Florida thank God no more Florida
And you're right Anton we did move to the Midwest Oklahoma would I rather have a tornado then a hurricane
And ASHVILLE NC's govt released the water from damn and the flooding was their fault, not the actual hurricane. Just saying.

Family lived in Naples,Fl (on the beach) since 1965 & they had 1 hit in their area of Naples Gulf Shore Blvd & Naples Bay in '85-'86& south towards Dowtown & then south to Marco Island........... They died in their late-90s during Covid (but not from Covid) & were in a 24/7 medical-treatment hospice place near Jungle Larry's (now called Caribbean Gardens).
*Hurricane Ian ('22) was direct hit where they lived in Naples on the Gulf & the hospice where they were at end, 57 yrs there.*
The severity of hurricane damage in Florida depends not only on the category of the storm but also in which cities you live in. Example while Miami may go through a Category 4 hurricane it’s not even raining in Gainesville. It’s about location.
I been in Florida since 1997 and I have never dealt with a direct hit. The hurricane does not hit the same area every year. Tampa has been spared for over 100 years. When it is your time for the hurricane to hit your area it is your time.
I have lived in Central America and did not like the earthquakes on a regular and the aftershocks. Don't like the winters in the North either.
*THE* only season I like is summer and spring so Florida is where I will stay.

Yes ,they are hoping people get distracted and not vote .People need to vote no matter what for trump ,then all of these different messes can get taken care of. People have to stay focused on the prize .
Facts 💯
Coastlines are always going to be having a chance but folks in the Mntns of NC and TN. Are not usually in the path
The same way you feel about Michigan is the same way I feel about Florida.
I feel bad for FL. I always wondered the same, why live there with so many possibilities of hurricanes. I live in Louisiana. We get them too, prob seecond as much to FL. But, at the end of the day, its up to what you can bear or want to deal with. Up north, cold, brutal winters. Loose power, you freeze to death poasibly. Icy roads, etc. Mid west, tornadoes and twisters that destroy whatever in its path. West coast, mud slides, earthquakes, wild fires, down south, hurricanes, tropical storms, burning heat, high humidity. So when its 90 it feels like 115. I mean, pick your poison. All of them you have to deal with some bs. But which one can you deal with in order to live the life you want.
Very well said .
I dont really get the appeal of living in FL. Its too dang hot 🥵 plus the hurricanes... Nahh
I do not see how you still in Detroit. Soon as I turn 18 I got the heck out of Michigan I'm from Flint / Saginaw.
Nov 23 I moved to Houston from Dallas for my husband. This was my first hurricane ever and it was not a joke. They did not prepare us for the hurricane at all. After the hurricane my complex we all came outside there were people that has been living in Houston for over 20 years and said that they were never underprepared like this We just did not know so we were blindsided. This is sad I really wish I can take at least the children in😢😢😢😢

There shouldn’t be a second claim. The insurance adjusters should wait until after this and then just do one.
I thought of moving to Florida also. One major drawback in my thinking is that it is a peninsula and in a hurricane etc there are very few roads to drive out of
