Yashum deserves a giant cookie. This guy knows how to make a hack. The layout, the music, the tone, the mechanics. The part where you go to the top of the screen if you fall, taking a page from VVVVVV, moving from foreground the background, having the actual layout as a reflection underneath you. Nintendo, hire this guy. He's amazing XD
Mario World hacks have definitely spawned a lot of darker-themed games. This one is no exception but at least it's pretty good in terms of gameplay and mechanics.
everyone's talking about the Non-Euclidean World, but nobody mentions 9:29. I was confused as to why the emulator hud would show up during a TAS, but then I realized it's a story element of some sort lol
12:07 Cthulhu:WHAT!?! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE YOU ARE USING MY POWER AGAINST ME?! I WILL DESTROY NEVERTHELESS LOWLY PLUMBER! Mario: Well that Super Plumber to you!
That level with the slow-scrolling background that you could interact with was ingenious. I've never seen that before... Also, it used Tetris Attack music, so it instantly wins +4 Internets.
The only thing i didn't like was that it made Cthulhu into a boss at the end...and you could actually beat him. He's nearly immortal, so that kinda took me out of the great Lovecraftian atmosphere that the rest of the hack nailed so perfectly.

It is actually a Cthulhu Spawn as the Cthulhu itself appears briefly in the background and is giant
Apollo9898LPs You know who else is nearly immortal? Majin buu. Deadpool. Cell. Etc. all beatable things. Cthulhu is no exception. No mortal can beat him but he is by no means unbeatable. Any multiverse buster could beat him.
So, Mario can defeat an Old One, while a blue hedgehog who goes super saiyan can't even face a ghost counterpart with bleeding eyes. BTW, Sonic.exe is cowering in fear of Mario right now.
Kurisu Shiruba Sonic.exe isn't a ghost. Apparently the creator of the creepypasta made an origin story saying he's an entity who has no real form & takes the form of Sonic cause it likes the character
I can't ever get enough of this hack. It is so well put together and it's shown me elements I've never thought would be possible in this game. The music is surprisingly relevant. I don't think I've seen any hack better than this.
Man, the only thing Spooky here is how fast he blazed through this game. On the real though, Jordan Underneath brought me here and I absolutely LOVE this back, it's got some really good mechanics and a nice dark atmosphere. Love it! 😁👍
I don't remember much from this mod, so before I go any further in the video, I'd like to pose a question for you all. What happened to the Mushroom Kingdom under Cthulhu, Peach, Luigi, everyone, really.Infact, how did Bowser go about this, as his troops are clearly not in their best condition.
I don't know, but I have the feeling that he broke with his girlfriend, and since that hack was made for her... but I'm not sure, it's just the first thing that came to my mind (and a friend's mind too).
Does anyone know the music in the first segment? All but it seem to be listed here thehiddentower.weebly.com/blog/the-call-of-super-mario-cthulhu-world
*watches video* Oh hey stage 3 is pretty nifty with that fake game over screen. Hm but stage 4 has multiple background layers you can interact with.. that's even cooler. And then comes stage 5 o_o Wow this hack is one of the best I've ever seen :O
***** can this be played without tas? Like by hand? I don't mean TECHNICALLY possible, I mean can I throw this rom on a cart and play through it like any other game without having to master those weird wall jumps.
***** I got this put on a SNES cartridge. The only problem is the retron 5 doesn't recognize it so I can't use save states in order to play each level individually. I know others have figured out how to play roms on their retrons so I bet it's possible to load this rom on an sd card to make the system recognize the cartridge. Then I can beat the game once, save to the cartridge, and replay the levels any time I want without having to start from scratch.
***** Let me try to explain it a little bit better. I have Call of Cthulhu on an snes cart. It only plays on the snes which is totally fine with me. My only problem is that if you die one time, you start back at the beginning of the game. I want to cheat until I beat it ONCE. I can save to the cartridge that I beat it and go back and play each level that I choose instead of being forced to start over on the first level. You see what I'm saying?
The use of foreground and background elements as platforms in the 'Non-Euclidian' stage was BRILLIANT.
Yeah, that would of been really hard to do in 3d. Even when you understand how it works its still fucks with your mind.

Oh wow this is a really well made hack.
Lmsln yeah,it's an actual game
the best hack IMO, short but effective
Mario World hacks have definitely spawned a lot of darker-themed games. This one is no exception but at least it's pretty good in terms of gameplay and mechanics.
Sonic Hurricane not like some stupid creepy pasta game
@@CheeseDudInTheOven especially those
Nice background trick, putting it's perspective differently.
That cave story music.
Mmmmmm.
Best SMW Hack sountracks i ever heard :'3
The tracks in this come from ithers games i think .
Some of them are from the Snes Game Terranigma
Isn't the title screen music from Final Fantasy IV? Golbez's Theme?
Anthony Humphrey yes
That gameover bit totally got me
Only Mario could kick lovecraftian horror in the balls.
Most of the music in this mod makes me want to call it "Cthulhuvania."
stop undertale shitposting
You're not making sense. How is Undertale relevant to this conversation?
+MARIO WORLD
It's not Megalovania he's talking about. He's talkin' 'bout Castlevania.
I think.
P.S. I like replying to dead comments.

everyone's talking about the Non-Euclidean World, but nobody mentions 9:29. I was confused as to why the emulator hud would show up during a TAS, but then I realized it's a story element of some sort lol
By far the most amazing and creative romhack I've ever seen, great work!
this is a really well made and great romhack
12:07
Cthulhu:WHAT!?!
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE
YOU ARE USING MY POWER
AGAINST ME?!
I WILL DESTROY NEVERTHELESS LOWLY PLUMBER!
Mario: Well that Super Plumber to you!
Me (from the fourth wall): Well Mario is not a normal plumber anyway...
True that
Yep it is
That level with the slow-scrolling background that you could interact with was ingenious. I've never seen that before...
Also, it used Tetris Attack music, so it instantly wins +4 Internets.
still one of my favorite rom hacks and playthroughs til today! I think i've watched this like 10 times already...
I like how Mario still has his hat when he ducks
I like how in the ending, you see that the game was a dream, (likely) caused by Mario reading The Call of Cthulhu...
There are no words for how amazing this hack is.
Cthulhu itself mentioned that it's only in a "crippled form" not nearly as powerful as the real deal.
Apollo9898LPs
You know who else is nearly immortal?
Majin buu. Deadpool. Cell. Etc. all beatable things. Cthulhu is no exception. No mortal can beat him but he is by no means unbeatable. Any multiverse buster could beat him.

Kurisu Shiruba Sonic.exe isn't a ghost. Apparently the creator of the creepypasta made an origin story saying he's an entity who has no real form & takes the form of Sonic cause it likes the character
Kurisu Shiruba to be fair there is a really good reimagined version of that game out now.
Noir Renard Yeah Sonic.exe Nightmare beginning right? That's a better version.
Mario defeated a SPAWN and not the true Cthulhu
Who's here because of SpaceHamster
Me
Reeper death Claw me too!
ya
I found out about the hack because of SpaceHamster, I'm just hear to watch "haha funny TAS go brrrr" and see Mario go Maximum Overdrive through it.
This TAS makes Cthulhu look like a joke, when it is a hard boss, especially if you take your time.
The whole hack kind of comes off as a joke, really. It's not an easy game.
it is srsly hard, i couldnt get past the first segment without save states
It's fair to say that he has probably practiced the game alot to find the best ways to speed run it.
Is that E.V.O the search for Eden I hear?! It really is an under rated game. This hack was beautifully done :)
3:37, I never noticed until now: Evil Architeture. C is missing.
wow never saw this, really nice TAS and what an amazing hack!
I can't ever get enough of this hack. It is so well put together and it's shown me elements I've never thought would be possible in this game. The music is surprisingly relevant. I don't think I've seen any hack better than this.
Forget The Curse of the Magic Wand, THIS is the tea sequel to The Big Boo’s Legion! 😉
That's an amazing hack, I should TAS more of those. Great video.
Absolutely fantastic hack, amazing work!
Thank you for uploading this!
Best rom hack ever, realy original and no more of that over saturated Kaizo bullshit.
Really well done and still fair difficulty, loved this one.
Man, the only thing Spooky here is how fast he blazed through this game. On the real though, Jordan Underneath brought me here and I absolutely LOVE this back, it's got some really good mechanics and a nice dark atmosphere. Love it! 😁👍
This was of the best things I've ever seen being a fan of both Super Mario and H.P Lovecraft!
Fighting of the Spirit for the final boss is a classy music choice.
I recognize the final boss theme from Panepon, as well as Ganon's theme and the Twilight from the Zelda series.
Nice, so nice hack, and serious TAS never spoils the hack.
IF Only Super Mario Maker ON Wii U Could Do ALL OF This Awesome LEVEL Editing❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
Nintendo doesn't even allow for glitch exploits in their levels, hence why Psycro is constantly being shutdown :(
Games And Movies Entertainment Yeah but this wasn't made by nintendo. and i don't think they pay attention to fangames.
WhiteBlueFlame they do
to fucking take them down
I like how Mario has H.P Lovecraft,so basically he is dreaming about the book he was reading
How does Mario's cap appear once he ducks?
It's a magic hat
It's funny how he ducks with his cap.
I noticed that to.
Seems like it’s only while small
I think he forgot to redraw the duck sprite
Ah I see. Speedrunner Mario wants to throw hands with Cthulhu.
Terranigma’s Underworld theme never gets old
2:47 those are some wierd ass mechanics...
It is a walljump
the part were it showed the ZNES interface at 9:25, was that you or was that the hack itself?
this is one hell of a well made hack. almost like another mario game entirely
This is the only one I actually have any interest in playing after watching. Cool stuff!
a true TAS never dies
question, what button is pressed when the fake zsnes interface appears?
_and no one answered_
I don't remember much from this mod, so before I go any further in the video, I'd like to pose a question for you all. What happened to the Mushroom Kingdom under Cthulhu, Peach, Luigi, everyone, really.Infact, how did Bowser go about this, as his troops are clearly not in their best condition.
this hack is freaking awesome, i want to try it. thanks for playing dude.
Creepiest SMW hack I've seen yet. Well done!
Best romhack boss fight i've ever seen!
the credits roll reminds me to Bejeweled 2 OST and Bejeweled 3 ZEN mode
for 9:35, if you use snes9x, will it still display that, or will it display just like what snes9x looks like
Did this game win hack of the year? (if that exists?) this game is amazing.
The title screen's music is Golbez's theme from FFIV.
I am wowed by the intricacy of this hack!! O.O Big respect to all those involved!
Wow just incredible!! very well done :D plus the game looks awesome specially the songs 🔥❤️😭👌🏾
Best thing I ever seen in my life. This is a whole new game
This is like a horror combination of super Mario world and super Mario bros 2. Because this is in a dream
I don't know, but I have the feeling that he broke with his girlfriend, and since that hack was made for her... but I'm not sure, it's just the first thing that came to my mind (and a friend's mind too).
Interesting background mechanics! Must have took a lot of work. All in all, excellent hack!
incredible I love the history of this hack very nice, excellent hack by played a excellent TASer result = Excellent TAS
This rom hack and Homestuck made me somewhat interested in Lovecraft
Awesome, I loved this hack, definitely one of the best :D
The creative ROM hack yet with a pretty much hard difficulty as well.
8:09 He goes down with a shell, comes back up without a shell. You can't explain that!
Elbobburrito he droped it
Where does that sound effect originate from at 0:14!?!? I can not place my finger on it.
6:59 In my version It doesn't exist!
Just dont take the coins from previos level (black and white) and the cat appears
What the shit. Really???
Yes, i did that and i could beat the game
NegaScottPilgrim so apparently I can't even beat the game, that sucks
2:45 with the layers: how cool is that!!
Lol, now this is a interesting name for a hack, I hope its as good as it sounds...
which version of the game do you need to apply the patch to?
With a USA 1.0 clean SMW rom
whoa how did you use that game over screen as level or whats that there to trick you that it was a game over screen?
It's merely ExGFX.
What version is this hack for? I've gotten the intro to load without sound using a USA 1.0 ROM but then it stays at black after selecting a file.
Wonder what's the music in the second level
And the third for that matter
Does anyone know the music in the first segment? All but it seem to be listed here thehiddentower.weebly.com/blog/the-call-of-super-mario-cthulhu-world
what song is played in the ending?
CALLING ALL SONIC FANS! IT'S TIME TO REVOLT AGAINST ROBOTNIK'S DELUSION THAT HIS NAME IS EGGMAN!
This can be played on a SNES?
Only if you manage to put it in a cartridge
Flash Cartridge
Love those textures.
Is there any way to download this beautiful music?
Only if you "extract" the assets of this Romhack or the ips file
1:50 good old Terranigma music.
What's the song that starts at 11:56?
The name's on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't find it!
Allegro That song's name is Fighting of the Spirits. It comes from the Tales of series.
Thank you very much!
Quick question...
What is the music that plays from 9:51 to 10:08?
It's from Cave Story. The name is "Seal Chamber".
This soundtrack is amazing... I wish I knew the name of the songs.
Title screen is "Golbez Clad in Dark" from ff4
Whoa,those backgrounds.
what is the credits song? i've been searching and searching to no avail....
It's a custom song called "The Worlds End: Epic Mix" by Jascha on SMW Central.
what is the name of the music at the credits? I always hear that music in smw hacks.
You can still find the hack pretty easily, if you know how.
Wish someone put this hack on a cart like someone did with the kaizo ones
Does anyone have a link for this ROM? 'Cause i don't know how to open a .ips file...
You need to use an ips patcher and apply the .ips file to an original smw rom file
Also hacked roms are illegal to download. This is why ips and bps patches are used
*watches video*
Oh hey stage 3 is pretty nifty with that fake game over screen. Hm but stage 4 has multiple background layers you can interact with.. that's even cooler. And then comes stage 5 o_o
Wow this hack is one of the best I've ever seen :O
I was prepared to laugh pretty hard if Cthulhu was actually beaten by three jumps on the head haha. Great hack though!
*Este video me hace recordar viejos tiempos*
I missed your videos !
Does anyone know how I can get this soundtrack?
what's the final boss music?
Are those purple wiggly things at 8:35 harmful, cause if they aren't then you could've Left+right zoomed across the whole part couldn't you?
Leon Lee The tentacles themselves aren't, but the walls they pull you into are.
Ok.
***** can this be played without tas? Like by hand? I don't mean TECHNICALLY possible, I mean can I throw this rom on a cart and play through it like any other game without having to master those weird wall jumps.

Anyone else upset that ducking little Mario has a hat?
okay, who deleted the big music related comments?
Didn't there used to be a list of the songs used for this hack?
There was, but apparently G+ deleted it somehow? Reposted it, anyway.
***** Good grief! The list is gone! *Again*...
***** Thank you, but you're still missing the music that plays in the fourth segment. IIRC, it was custom music written for smw.
Danfun360 That song is Twilight Park, which is a remix of some Twilight Princess music.
