Such a beautiful and talented actress. So difficult to do close up shots as an actor when you have to lip sync a song with so many modulations and to be rhythmically precise. Her lipsyncing was spot on. Seldom we see close up shots these days where the camera is focussed for 10 secs during a song. Shame she didn't get much legit work.

It is bittersweet to listen to this song today. The rustic soundscape, that sarangi interlude, that sunset-sari visual, the effortlessness in Gracy Singh’s acting, the flow of the narrative even in a song - We liked all of this when it first came out, but also took it for granted back then. We probably appreciate it a lot more now, because nothing like it exists in Bollywood anymore. The last vestiges are guarded by people like Gowariker, Rahman, Bhansali, Bhardwaj, Gulzar, and only a few others. We evolved as a society but lost a part of our identity. Our art evolved to become more “world-class,” but maybe the world needed to evolve to understand our art in the first place, rather than the other way round.
