10th World Water Forum Kickoff Meeting

President of the World Water Council Loïc Fauchon said during his opening speech,
“The 2nd SCM serves as part of the “Water Deal” which calls for constant hydro
diplomacy to convince opinion leaders and political leaders that “Water is politics”
and that it is time for accelerations.”
“Water Deal” implies a new relationship with water and a new relationship between
humankind and water which first and foremost justifies the saying “stop ignoring
water”. Moreover, he mentioned priorities in addressing the global water crisis
including the new balance between water for humans and for nature, water for
agriculture and irrigation to ensure food production, and the integrated water
resources management to secure a sustainable development.
“We, as humans, need to translate into facts that water, food, energy, health and
education are the five fingers of the same hand. The hand of sharing and peaceful
development.” said Loïc.
