    LYRICS:
It is a dance we do in silence, far below this morning sun
You in your life, me in mine, we have begun
Here we stand and without speaking draw the water from the well
And stare beyond the plains to where the mountains lie so still
But it's a long way that I have come
Across the sand, to find this peace among your people in the sun
Where the families work the land as they have always done
Oh, it's so far, the other way my country's gone
Across my home has grown the shadow of a cruel and senseless hand
Though in some strong hearts the love and truth remain
And it has taken me this distance and a woman's smile to learn
That my heart remains among them and to them I must return
But it's a long way that I have come
Across the sand, to find you here, among these people in the sun
Where your children will be born
You'll watch them as they run
Oh, it's so far, the other way my life has gone
If you look for me, Maria
You will find me in the shade
Wide awake or in a dream
    It's hard to tell
If you come to me, Maria
I will show you what I've made
It's a picture for our lady of the well

I’ve been to see and hear Jackson - all over the country. I’ll be in Tacoma later this month to see JB and JT. I grew up and grew old with JB as my soundtrack. He and I are only a month apart in age. I’ve said many times in my later years that I so hope that Jackson outlives me because a world without Jackson Browne…we’ll that ain’t no kind of world for me.

As a 52 year old that was literally raised on his music I am dreading the day it comes. I have been blessed to see him many times, and mostly with my mom who is why I grew up with him. He’s always been my favorite and nothing could ever change that. I think I am introspective in part because of his music. I was that 5 or 6 yr old trying to figure out what Fountain of Sorrow was all about.

"For Everyman" holds a special place for me! I listened to it so much when it came out, played guitar along with it ... I think I probably knew how long each pause was between songs. Truly special.

Jackson has been a Favorite of mine my entire life darn near. Every music I ever recorded for myself had to have Jackson included in between all anything I recorded especially when I was driving cross country .. I Love how his words just grab ahold of you and take you there. To actually be at one of his shows you don't want to leave wanting him to come back and play just One More 🤗

I was a sophomore in 1973-74. Everyone knew about the Eagles.
Mr. Wiseman dug up a record player and supplied us with fill-in-the-blank photocopies of lyrics. "For a Dancer". I learned how to pay attention to meaning. I learned insight. I learned that I could tell a story with the pieces people already have. I get a little better at it every day.
I remember him as slight and moderate, built for longevity. Barring misfortune, Scott Wiseman adapted to common core, completed his career and now enjoys a retirement of contemplation and broad vistas.

What town?? I found one, up the coast from Manzanillo. There's a place that's just about to be destroyed by tourists, Barra Navidad. We went there before the storm and saw a Fantasy Island looking resort across the bay to the south. So next time down we stayed there to see what was up. The resort is Grand Isla Navidad, and it's out on a peninsula cut off from non-guests. There's a lot of that shit going on all along that coast, exclusive luxury resorts that you don't even know about if your net worth is less than a billion. Grand Isla is a wanna be, close but no billion. Anyway the resort subsumed a small villiage that now basically serves the resort, but remains intact. The most 19th century Mexican villiage I've seen in all my travels in Mexico. And I saw Tulum before it was Tulum. Very cool, and very protected oddly *because* of the Mexican lust for tourism. They all go to Grand Isla. I'm not going to name the town, cause I live there now.

What a masterful guitarist. I don't remember the last time I heard such a sweet tone, to boot.

I like the song a lot although I find the key changes make it hard to sing easily. Well done if you've mastered it... and JB certainly nails it here. Expensive sounding guitars too😄

@@robertnewell9238 Hi Robert. Did you mean that the chord changes make it hard to sing? There aren’t any key changes in “Our Lady of the Well”, so I’m a bit confused. Cheers, Max 😁👍

My elder brother had this album when it first came out and had me listen with him. I was 12 and can still picture it perfectly, with the LP spinning, holding the jacket and checking out the photos and reading every word. Loved this song from the first listening. -- This is a brilliant rendition of a timeless piece! Thanks for sharing it!

Absolutely beautiful. Cool to know that Linda Ronstadt is somewhere in that story. Had a crush on her back in the 70s and been mesmerized by and loving this song since the 70s. The whole Melody of this song and the way it flows into Colors of the Sun and then into Sing my Songs to me and For Everyman on that original album is one of the best records ever made. Still listen to it from start to finish at least once a year.

There are actually five songs between Colors and Sing My Songs, but i'd agree that the album-and its flow in general-are spectacular indeed.

Actually Our Lady of the Well and Colors of the Sun and Sing My Songs to me and For Everyman are sequential to one another on side A and the latter on side B, which is whaat I was referring to. Excuse me if my description was difficult to understand.

@@EHzNow What I love the most is the way Take It Easy flows into Our Lady of the Well. I really love that. I haven't been able to hear them as 2 separate songs since the first time I listened to that album. When I only hear one of them it feels like something's missing. 😊

This is why I’ve always enjoyed his solo acoustic shows and the two live volumes. I asked him about five years if he was going to release more of those and he said he was thinking about it. I’d be a buyer! Actually I wish he’d re-record some of his albums solo acoustic with some new interpretations on the songs.
