Girl, I currently am having a breakdown for not understanding chemistry as my 3rd quarter. I want to say thank you so so so much because I’m now determined to organize myself. You are an absolute angel. 💕 thank you
Actually thank you so much for this. I was a corpsman in the Navy for six years and then left so I could pursue medicine at a higher level. Was rocking straights A’s until I hit gen chem when I transferred to my private school, failed hardcore. Was pretty discouraged and almost gave up just because of that, but I’m confident I can come back with a better approach and succeed. I almost let one bad experience with gen chem deviate me from my path!
I know I’m 4yrs late to this video, but thank you so much for this! I just started Gen Chem I in my first semester at a university transferring from community college, and compared to community college this is like drinking from a fire hose. So much so fast and up until now I never needed to worry too much about good note taking and study tactics cuz my associate was technical focused. I’m definitely not gonna be able to get away with that now. SO MUCH ANXIETY!! Heading over to your other videos!
Drinking from a fire hose is a very common phrase in the medical community. One step at a time.... try to ask yourself, “what is one thing I can accomplish for sure today?” Instead of thinking of gazillion things that need to be done. I have to remind myself of this often too - but dont let fear stop you from even starting.
Excellent point regarding printing out online materials. I think the reason this is the way to go is because you can engage an additional "sense" (tactile) while learning, which will create stronger memories. At the end of a quarter, one can drop all that into recycling, so there's no guilt needed about printing a lot of pages.
In history class I would draw out little clip arts about what we were studying. And I applied it to all of my classes. I ended up raising my GPA up one point up. This method of color coding helps you kind of memorize and really grasp what you learned. So what your doing isn't really weird just really effective and different from how others learn
I have a habit of making a huge list of what I need to do, being satisfied and excited to be productive, and then inevitably becoming too overwhelmed even by the thought and end up getting nothing done. Going to college this fall and I’m a little afraid since I know myself very well. I’m always up for a challenge but whether or not I accomplish it is very questionable.
Wow, thank you for this! A prep course on how to properly study and pass college classes should be mandatory IMO. I’m gonna implement some of this and see if it works. Btw, do you save your notes after you’re done with the course?
Same. My professor sucks! I’ve learned some concepts by reading the text on my own (eg Rate laws/expressions) and could definitely have explained it better. No one understood wtf he was talking about until maybe the 5th example. Now that i know it, i realize its really an easy concept to explain
Why? Whats hard? I'm taking it right now I'm about halfway through and nothing too bad but I hope it doesn't just get way difficult out of nowhere haha
I’m currently taking principles of chemistry and that still seems just as hard as general chem. I’m trying to perhaps get an A myself for a dental program I’m interested in.
I've been lost for a year in college and deciding to transfer colleges to “restart”. I always wanted to do nursing but fear science because of my bad experience in hs. I'm planning to just face it and hope for the best. Is there any more advice because I am really anxious
You need to start stretching girl. Especially your back. And work on your core. Studying is hard on the body. Trust me I know as a fellow STEM student.
Hello, I am a high school senior student. I have my SAT in 2 months, my APs in 4 months, CLEP in 5 months, board exams in 4 months and one subject test in 4 months. ( i gave one subject test and got 800, and 1400 in SAT but will give again.) My board is an indian board (CBSE). i was wondering, should i give AS and A level in 3 subjects in june? I am pretty sure I already know a lot of syllabus as it overlaps from other tests but I am still unsure and very confused. Do tell please....
I’m a freshman in high school and am looking to dual enroll in general college chem... but I’ve heard it one of the hardest and I haven’t taken normal chem (I’m in bio this year) what’s your input?
Is there a reason you have to enroll in a college course so early? What are the benefits of that? Genuinely asking bc back in my days, freshmen werent introduced to any college classes. I personally think it’s best to just take chemistry at the level of HS freshman, esp if you have never been exposed to it. It’s worthwhile to create a solid foundation so you can build upon it with AP chem, college chem 1&2 etc. Sometimes it’s about learning how to study for certain subjects throughout the process too- But this is just my opinion!
Could you suggest me several websites to learn about general chemistry ? Free, have exercises for training and answers are what i'm looking for, but still can't find it. Thank you
Gen chem is such a hard class but it is really rewarding when you begin understanding the concepts! :)
for sure!!
MED foryou taking chem right now do you have any notes you can share??
it really is satisfying when you finally understand the concept

I’ll be taking general chem 1, calculus 1, calculus physics 1, and a history course in the fall. Pray for me.
take calculus before taking calculus physics
RIP🙏
@@britneyferndx763 sounds common sense ? Lol I didn’t think Calc 1 or 2 was hard but definitely necessary before Calc physics lol
Getting the casket ready now lol jk
WHY DID U TAKE CHEMISTRY ITS THE WORST CLASS

This is my exact situation! I just finished high school two days ago and I’m feeling a little nervous at the moment. Just know you aren’t alone
This was very helpful! Thanks for making this video
I'm glad! Thank you for watching!
I got an A in Chem3A December 2020... 4.0 so far for nursing pre reqs & still... 😐

I used to save all my notes... But now only ones that I think may help me! Usually well organized summary sheets to refer back to :)
I'm struggling in Gen Chem 2. I think I may have to retake it.

Thank you for this!!! Does a lot of Chem 1 spill over into Chem 2?
They usually have the exact same text book lol. So definitely
