Thought I'd sneak in one wholesome anti-salt mines replay to end the year on a lovely note! Thanks everyone for watching Salt Mines and sending in your replays. We're giving Salt Mines a little break so we can all detox a little to start off 2023 before diving in again.
I was getting more and more anxious during that last game. It was so nice and friendly thatI was dreading the inevitable salt conversion. What a very nice way to end the year though!
Me too. it was too wholesome and I was very anxious in the depravity and madness of desperation. But NO, wholesome to the end. (PS - fun fact?? In Animal Farm, Napoleon was one of the Pigs ...)
The suspension in the last game was killing me. Was dreading that it would go nuclear any second and so relieved that what we got to see was just a nice, wholesome game in the end.
Jeebus. If 37 is beyond the life time of a gamer, I must be dust by now XD. I'm way older than 37 and still play games. Been playing them since their inception with Space Invaders lol. I saw the rise and fall of the 8, 16 and 32 bit era. We are now in the 64 bit era. Anyone wanna hear my life story?
Sounds like me. I had toshorten my first name in the late 70s because you could only fit 3 letters on the high score screen in Asteroids, and the 3 letter name just stuck.
Wasn't expecting to go from the Salt Mines straight to Wholesome Farms, but here we are and it's actually quite nice! Thanks for all the good times in 2022 Pig, looking forward to another year.
Just so you guys know, in France lots of people think it's illegal to call a pig "Napoleon". It kinda became a popular belief after George Orwell's animal farm but in fact, there's no law against it.
@@vincentlefur4490 Nope. Popular myth, but untrue. France used to have a law saying you couldn't insult its President, but (a) Napoleon wasn't president and certainly isn't president now, and (b) The ECHR told France it can't have this law, so the law was abolished in like 2013 and also (c) how is naming a Pig after somebody an insult?
Actually wait, Napoleon III was President for a while in the 18th century. So I guess if the law had existed then (it didn't) and if naming your pig was an insult, then in that period of the 18th century it would have been illegal.
Fleur de Lis is a classic medieval heraldry symbol, historically most famous for representing Joan of Ark's army. Napol might also stand for the city of Napoli
Was waiting the whole time for this nice chat to derail. I'm glad, it didn't. Usually I don't chat, cause I don't have the apm for it (ok, Artorias neither has it), but on Christmas Eve I came home drunk, entered the ladder, lost 300 MMR but had some really nice conversations. In the end the ladder is not as bad as it apperas some times.
That last game was one of the most wholesome StarCraft games I've ever seen! Also I've watched Oldman play some other games he's super chill and relaxed, had no idea he played StarCraft though
I like this one a lot. Reminds me of when I first started playing & folks recommended to me your bronze to GM vids to help me grow. There are some very salty ppl on the ladder, but many very wholesome ppl too.
Hi Strawbaby here, was siting here thinking I played well, guess I still got a lot more to learn about the game as is. Thank you for the cast, sorry I couldn't find a more interesting salt for you though. Was fun to meet you at Dreamhack though.
@PiG LOL Trust me you could never "forget" to feed your kids... they will let you know they are hungry ALLLL the time. If you end up not feeding them it would have to be a conscience decision :p
Gotta say the friendly banter between OldMan and AbyssWalker was refreshing... I'm almost nervous to see what happens considering this is the Salt Mines lol. We shall see.
Honestly since this whole series is about excuses, absolute props to AbyssWalker for not using the really easy excuse of "I typed too much, would've won against you easily otherwise" and simply went with the more realistic "ah fuck my APM can't support both of these". Love him.
If the last game was a regular ladder experience, I wouldn't mind going. It's bad enough IMO that my mind has to go on full overdrive to play well, then adding salt or cheese outta nowhere just makes me back out. 😂 But yeah, very surprising to see a wholesome game, even praising the opponent for the reaper micro.
Napolcochon is surely about the fact that it's forbidden by French law to name your pig "Napoleon" as it was degrading to compare the Emperor with a pig, but the law never was abroged
As a Dota2 player I know how much better it is to A move mele units and only right click when Im microing down low health units with ranged summons. And the way I reached the highest rank which is top 2% precentile is by literally never getting tilted, yesterday I won lane as Invoker, I could to pickoffs but I 80% of the time I couldnt nuke the enemies in late game team fights, I fully accept that we lost because of me not being good enough so I whent demo hero to practice my nuke combos.
Dude this was amazing. This was the best. A great wrap up of what we've seen this year and an amazingly wholesome game from Old man and 2 Tuff Tony. Beautiful.
Got here from Harstem, then to Uthermal, then you. Subscribed! Watching you all play has gotten me back into it, but not on the ladder because I suck haha
Thank you for the cool games you shared with us all through 2022, and thank you for all those to come in 2023!! Happy New Year to you and your wife, Pig!! Oh, funny fact: "cochon" in game 1 is actually french for "pig" lol!! Cheers mate!!
I was curious about the numbers on the ZvZ bane bust scenario. If my maths is right, (with no upgrades) it's only 4 banes to kill a spine, 10 to kill an evo, and a whole dozen to kill a queen
I don't think abyss walker was like "dammit old man, you made me talk too much", it was more a "ahh dammit, i talked too much, forgot my macro". A proper end to this years salt mines. Don't prioritise BM over macro, and don't prioritise GM over macro either.
Thought I'd sneak in one wholesome anti-salt mines replay to end the year on a lovely note! Thanks everyone for watching Salt Mines and sending in your replays. We're giving Salt Mines a little break so we can all detox a little to start off 2023 before diving in again.
That was a really pleasant surprise… I kept waiting for the turn on that one. Thanks for another year of entertainment PiG! ❤️
"people who are really really bad at videogames tend to be the angriest" my man are you mocking artosis right now?
Was a lovely end to the video. It's like a palate cleanser to let us realize how absurd the normal salty reactions are.
Yo PIG, can you find Old Man and do a special with him? I'd watch the shit outta that!
What would one call anti-salt? Pepper? Sugar?
I was getting more and more anxious during that last game. It was so nice and friendly thatI was dreading the inevitable salt conversion. What a very nice way to end the year though!

@@ShadowKstr oh damn haven't read it since school, forgot about that
That final game was fantastic
It really was - I was worried it would turn salty - was so nice to see it just be nice clean fun.
@@MattSlaughter Won't turn salty. No-one is gonna smack talk a friend of 2 tuff tony.
So wholesome.
The suspension in the last game was killing me. Was dreading that it would go nuclear any second and so relieved that what we got to see was just a nice, wholesome game in the end.
haha glad when Dot surprises me by including these wholesome replays once in a while
6:07 MoHa going for the bold strategy of not putting workers in any of his bases so the oracles can't kill them, outstanding.
NEXT level preparation lol
The last one for the year was wholesome.
Also, i am 44, and still playing (and sucking in diamond 1) the game :)
Happy New Year!
I'm 37 and stuck in diamond 3. Aging gamers unite :P
+1 !
41 and D3 :)
44 d3 and I got my 12 year old twin boys to play sc2 with me :)
54 (almost 55) and hanging out in Silver 1/Gold 3 🤣. Level 1000 in Co-op though 😉
37, about to finish the season a G3

That genuine friendly energy in that last game was a perfect way to wrap the year up :] cheers !
Wasn't expecting to go from the Salt Mines straight to Wholesome Farms, but here we are and it's actually quite nice! Thanks for all the good times in 2022 Pig, looking forward to another year.
I was terrified what would happen in the last game 😶
The final game was so wholesome
“Old woman!”
“Man”
“Man, sorry. What knight lives in that castle over there?”
“I’m 37”
“What?”
“I’m 37, I am not old.”
Oh I love that the series ended like this this year
Dot sneaking in a secret episode of Wholesome mines for the holidays
"Fleur de Lis" is a national symbol for the french. So that player was probably a very proud frenchman.
Proud of being french 🤢🤢🤢🤢
I know that it does not really matter now but it is pronounced Fleur de (Lee) the "s" is generally not pronounced in French.
Or a Saints fan
Or a frenchman from Quebec :)
@@DarthTigger Oh I know, but french is a really hard language to teach, and I say that as a french canadian. :p
'You just can't fuck with Tony" wise words Old Man, wise words indeed.
That last game was just wholesome. I was on tenterhooks, hoping the lovely convo wouldn't devolve. Got really nervous when OldMan dropped an f-bomb.
Just so you guys know, in France lots of people think it's illegal to call a pig "Napoleon". It kinda became a popular belief after George Orwell's animal farm but in fact, there's no law against it.

I missed where someone asked
wish we have anther series called Wholesome Mine (the naming doesnt make sense but somthing along that line lol)
Fleur de Lis is a classic medieval heraldry symbol, historically most famous for representing Joan of Ark's army. Napol might also stand for the city of Napoli
There is something about a person being so angry that they mistype even the most basic of words. Brings a smile to my face.
Wow, such a lovely surprise. I love when I have positive interactions like this.
I'm french and the protoss name made me laugh and the fact Pig understand it is great i love him
It's good to know the Fable of the Ping Pong Grampa holds true in both hemispheres.

eyy absolutely mate, we tend to remember the negative interactions but there's actually so many wholesome ones like this :D
Napol really missing the opportunity to clap back with "gert good"
Last game: no salt, heaping does of sugar!
That last game was one of the most wholesome StarCraft games I've ever seen! Also I've watched Oldman play some other games he's super chill and relaxed, had no idea he played StarCraft though

37 in gamer years is actually 93
So how old is 50?

When PiG finishes the year with a sugar fluff game as part of the salt mine series. Well done!

Wholesome end to the year!
Love the salt mine I never want to leave

Nice final game, can't wait for the new season of the insult/salt mines
Nice last game to end this year. 👌
I love the salt, but that last exchange was awesome. Pig u the man. Ur commentary is top.:)
Got here from Harstem, then to Uthermal, then you. Subscribed! Watching you all play has gotten me back into it, but not on the ladder because I suck haha
a viewer of good taste I see
NOICE, the year ends with some Sugar Mines! Approved!
Belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, everybody! Stay safe and keep rockin'!
I guess Napolcochon must be a tribute from Orwell's Animal Farm
TIL how old I actually am, didn't expect to get sad watching a starcraft video :D
My favorite was the last game. His units had lore.
Thank you for the cool games you shared with us all through 2022, and thank you for all those to come in 2023!! Happy New Year to you and your wife, Pig!!
Oh, funny fact: "cochon" in game 1 is actually french for "pig" lol!! Cheers mate!!
Can we have more of those Old Man games?
Complete opposite of salt mine content
can't believe he google'd fleur de lis, and just came back with "it's a Lilly", and not the iconic bit of heraldry, especially for France.
google translated! LOL I did a proper google after and realised it's the french symbol all over my Frank knights and buildings in AOE lol
Anyone find OldMan's channel? I would happily watch more of that chap
I was curious about the numbers on the ZvZ bane bust scenario. If my maths is right, (with no upgrades) it's only 4 banes to kill a spine, 10 to kill an evo, and a whole dozen to kill a queen
I think thats right, insane difference between the bonus to buildings vs the damage to non light units
When in doubt, attack your own hatchery.
The best series on TH-cam. Happy holidays PiG!
ohh the last game 🥺
I knew by Napolcochon's name only that he wasn't gonna be the rager.
Old man at 37... I'm 50 (people my age were in the vanguard of video gaming, so it shouldn't be a shock that a lot of us still play videogames)
If your opponent tells you to get cancer while you're messing with them the proper response is to say "I AM cancer" and run DTs into their base.
Happy New Year PiG! Looking forward to more great content this year, plus if I travel to Australia this year, you still owe me a tinnie 😁
Hahaha love pig faces in the videos previews
That last one wasn't salt, just wholesomeness.
I'm over 40 and still trying to get better at SC2 😂
I don't think abyss walker was like "dammit old man, you made me talk too much", it was more a "ahh dammit, i talked too much, forgot my macro".
A proper end to this years salt mines. Don't prioritise BM over macro, and don't prioritise GM over macro either.
What a great last replay!
Pig I love this show thanks for a great year of salt!
These are always good for a giggle
Ultra-manner is actually the supreme BM
Great last game!
Old man in the last game is the 7ncle iroh of sc2
37 is above the life expectency of gamers? Maybe ill put the cheetos down and touch some grass...
Avilo's playing SC2 again, so we should get enough salt mines content
I'm 37. I'm not _OLD_.
Well, I can't just call you "Man".
You could call me Dennis
Happy Holidays!
Too tuff Toni is my new hero
If you type "Oldman starcraft 2" in youtube, you get Artosis, Winter, and Lowko hahaha
I'm dead
the last game was sweet...and kinda misses the point of salt mines. YOU GOTTA BE SALTY!!!!!
HOLY MARCO
I MET THIS OldMan IN MATCH 2V2
i was his allies and he played as zerg
Uses a broodwar techniques (not using queen or roach)
Great season. Guten Rutsch!
i made tuna noodle casserole, thought id tell yall
Damn... I'm 40... how old does that make me in gamer years?
Who had the best insult in this series?
Can we have more of 2 tuff tony lore please?
The last game does not qualify to be any salt mine :)
A "fleur de lis" is the royale france emblem. What with all those french names today?
The anti-salt mines
Ofcourse you're not ready for kids, you dont have them. If you are somewhat intelligent and you have love in your heart, you're ready.
I’m finding depressing that a 37 year old is described as geriatric.
The oldman game was a Sugar Mine and not Salt Mine
@22:40 Probe prison
Yup
Mad cause bad
Never fails
what does "IGN" stand for with regard to sending in a replay?
in game name
Old ? I’m 41 and still play StarCraft .
On description it mentions to add your IGN is that a specific abbreviation for SC2?
IGN = in game name
yay, I am the first loser. aka 2nd.
And being 38yrs old - I am supposedly already rotting slowly :D ?
Oldman is 37? Please, that's still young. :)
He'll see the message if he watches this vid!
maybe a "holesome" chat moments ?
Napoleon the pig is from Animal Farm right?
